Tim Witherspoon, one of the most underrated heavyweights of all time maybe one of the most underrated fighters of the 80’s altogether as well. He had everything that makes a great heavyweight; -a nifty jab that rivalled greats and is one of the best in heavyweight history. -defensive head slips and slip counters. -strong arm defence. -good cardio. -good foot pivots and quick response time, never wasting a second when he knows his opponent on the verge of going out. -a seriously underrated right handed power punch and power in both hands that put a whole division on notice as long as he was in the picture. -Most importantly he sustained a healthy ego and lifestyle, that seems to be the downfall for most big men when easy KO’s and easy money comes in to the picture. A lot of modern heavyweights may embody a few of those major things and lack in all of the others but Witherspoon was a well educated pugilist, Ring general and ATHLETE as much as he was a power punching machine. Regardless of where anybody ranks him, he’ll always be cut from the same cloth as heavyweight greats like Joe Louis, Floyd Patterson, Sonny Liston, Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes, Lennox Lewis, the list goes on.
I believe Tim would have beat both Tyson and Holyfield !! He was that good ! Shook Holmes, destroyed Bonecrusher in 1st bout, demolished Bruno...a true talent who was destroyed by King !! Tim's story goes to show you just how corrupt boxing is, how much of a snake King is...Witherspoon was superb !!
@@williewidener7170 Holyfield was beyond special...but i believe Tim woulda found a way. King ruined Tim no question. The Witherspoon that gave Holmes hell, the one that crushed bruno, would give both tyson and holyfield hell.
@@anz2441 I agree he would have given them lots of trouble in the ring. I also agree Don King screwed Tim over. I also believe Tim was robbed in both the Larry Holmes and Ray Mercer fight. He beat those guys convincingly.
Lets be honest , Tim was VERY lucky to have snatched two titles do to Ali being done do to parkinsons and Holmes stepping down . as we know now both his oponents in the champion matches didnt end up being anything special . both decent boxers dont get me wrong . so Larry gives up the title , tubs goes down and Tim gets it , then bonecrusher looses on points for a second one. and then Tyson comes into play and we all know how that went the next 5 years. so yes Tim was lucky to find a tiny gap inn between 3 monsters of boxing . boom , perfect timing :D
Yes He often did not train hard leading up to fights and let the regime slide a bit . He liked to smoke a bit of pot which does not make him a bad guy . However when he did train hard as was seen with the Bruno fight , he was focused and devastating . He was part slugger part boxer with a mean streak in the ring but outside the ring a nice fellow . He was the first fighter to stand up to Don king.
Thank you again for a video about me!!! Appreciate you very much!
Hey champ, may I ask something?
@@crazykocounters4741 of course
@Piri Reis thank you!! Appreciate you my friend!!!
@@crazykocounters4741 what is your question?
@Piri Reis make a video of you trying it and load it to RUclips. Then I will analyze it. Just let me know when it is loaded
He's a really nice guy too! Really cares about young fighters learning their craft and I've learned a lot from his tutorials!
Thank you and there are more to come!
Tim has a channel on RUclips teaching boxing techniques. Its pure class.

I love Tim but I disagree regarding Holyfield. Evander was a generational talent.

@@williewidener7170 He definitely beat both of them. King has robbed many a fighter. Ruined many promising careers

Really always thought he could have been a great one. Was still very good but was often just uninspired.

Tim beats all the over paid over rated HW’s today. Brilliant boxer and fighter.
