Thank you for watching and go collect some Blackberries before the end of the month.
Have a great week!
Watching the rain, the sun shining, the puddles with the dogs playing and walking along watching you picking the blackberries was so much fun. Love the wind chimes. Wow, so many thick blackberry bushes, the vinegar turned perfect and the blackberry jam looks delicious. I love Blackberries!
Thank you Lou, so glad you enjoyed it. Blackberries are so sweet this year and I think under rated. i love them too.
made loads of blackberry jam this year
Me too! The race is on now to harvest as much as possible before Samhain.
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden mixed in some apple and pear to some batches and a touch of cinnamon and a clove or two
just a wee update made a blackberry and elderberry with apple and pear chilli 🌶 jam splash of lemon juices and blackberrygarlicness burn but layered
Hi Terri! blackberries and blackcurrants, in addition to being rich in vitamin C, have high content of flavonoids, essential fatty acids, such as linoleic acid and phytosterols, which is why they have a high antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and also antibacterial power. Nature is full of health and well-being. Thanks for sharing this beautiful video! Cheers
Thanks Marcela, for all the nutritional information. Blessings to you!
Hello from Baltimore area Maryland USA. I so enjoy your video's. I'm from Cork originally and remember when my dad used to bring us all out the country road when we were young to pick blackberries. When we'd get home we'd help my mam make blackberry jam.
Lovely memories! It is the childhood memories that always prompts me to go out and collect them. From Baltimore as well?
Dear Terri-Danu,
Thank you do much for making this videos...with so much negativity out there pouring on us, watching you has brought me back to reality...to Living Life. ❤
Just yesterday I was picking up blackberries, excited like a child because living in the city I hadn't done it in years. And was thinking "what can I do with them now?"...and you post this today😊. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, not just for the good timing and for sharing your knowledge about what to do with blackberries, but specially for making my heart sing when I feel this connection.
Love, 🌸
Ana
Glad to hear you had fun picking your Blackberries and getting out into Nature. Synchronicity is wonderful isn't it?😅💚 Do everything you can to avoid all the negativity! xx
Such an abundance in the hedgerows…. Nature’s bounty I’ve been foraging blackberries, elderberries and windfall apples 🍏🙋♀️
The hedgerows are just amazing. Blackberries and Hawthorns here🌰
Mmm, looks really tasty 😋! And what a lovely place you and the doggies living in. Thanks for great videos, Love them 💞
Hugs and voffies from me and Nikki 🐾🐾🐕
It was all tasty! Thank you Bibbi and hugs to you too.xx
Just discovered your channel. Making this for Christmas gifts
Lovely hugs to you and your fur babies, that toast and tea looks delicious and now I must try it for myself. Blessings
Hugs to you Delores. Just heading for a piece of toast again!😅 Blessings and hugs to you.x
A simple, meaningful life in tune with each season's bounty. You caught a glimmer of sun after all the rain and made the most of it. I got food (and drink) envy, Terri!
Yes we were lucky with that little ray. Surprisingly tasty, the Blackberry vinegar, try it. xx
Love your channel Terri...so informative! I know you are friends with Colette...so sad to hear of Jack's passing. My thoughts are with her now💗
Likewise x
Thanks Susanna. Yes my thoughts are with her too. We will miss Jack.
Bonjour je regarde vos video avec grand plaisirs par votre presence et tous vos enseignement merci 💗🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞🐘🌻🌹🌞🌸🙏🌼🍄🍁🌺
Bonjour Marie, felicitations! Merci!
I always feel so chilled and relaxed watching you x 💕
Thank you Joyce, that's lovely x🙏
Thank you for the information on the bramble leaves 🍃. Use as tea 🫖 lovely. My goats love the blackberry leaves, they are the innate sense of what is good for them.
Pick them in spring time and dry them then for your tea. They're a bit past it now. Animals are great for teaching us things.💚
That sounds like a lovely vinegar. We have tons of blackberry & raspberry brambles. I can taste the salad vinaigrette just thinking about it.
Blackberry & sage tea is one of my favorites with a dash of honey…hot or cold just for sipping.
Mmmmm sounds great, especially for winter time. xx
Hi from Indiana. Infact I shared one of your videos with a freind & he's been a subscriber for months now, but he can't type (or spell even) so he doesn't post, but enjoys your videos immensely. He's on Hospice home care, housebound, & permanently on an Oxygen generator (late stage emphysema & COPD). Got your email. Be responding shortly. Not doing so hot lately. Cancer meds & my job, I'm all out of whack, but love this idea. Have to see if any of the farmer's markets still carrying, otherwise go to the store. Ta for now.
Looking forward to your email but in your own time. If you can't get Blackberries you can infuse any berries that have the same nutritional values - see the post above from Marcella. xxx
Looks yummy! And hello from the mitten state (Michigan) of the 🇺🇸 USA
Hello Penny and welcome!
Terry you are my morning meditation ,thank you💗
Thank you - I'm honoured xx🙏
Oh to have hedges of blackberries! A few wild ones around but not as prolific as yours.
WE re very lucky Kelly, there are lots of Blackberry hedges here.
The gift bottles are beautiful. My dad always said a shot of blackberry brandy is good for tummy troubles. 😉 Have a great week Terri, thank you for sharing💕🙏
Wow - that's a great idea as well. A brandy tincture must be delicious! Thank you! xx
Thank you Terri and your wonderful dogs for another great, informative, helpful , educational video! We need people like you in schools to educate our children about our beautiful nature and how she help us. That’s what they need. Not algebra, trigonometry, etc….
Such relaxing, enjoyable videos to watch. Thank you Terri!❤️
YEs I agree, the education system leaves a lot lacking in terms of life skills and the ability to question things. xx
Some stunning shots in today's video.I shall try the vinegar next year ...........this year I made Blackberry Gin !!🙃
Thanks Mary! That's a great idea. Might do that next.
Up at my family's camp there use to be a huge blackberry patch in the woods behind our camp but it was ruined because the person who owns the mountain tore it all down. I was so mad. I love hiking and looking for different wild berries we can forage and eat, turn into jams, and stuff like that. We found some here and there but we ate them before I could turn them into anything.
Don't worry Ashley, it takes more than one man to get rid of Blackberries. I am certain they'll be back😄💚
I'm consistently amazed how Terra turns neon green after the rain! 😍
I haven't heard of an oxymel before but it seems I've done everything but.☺️ Vinegar, jam, syrup and cobbler. Thank you for the reminder about using the leaves for tea also. 🙂
Blessings always! 💜
She loves the rain! Blessings to you too Trish.🙏
Delightful! 💫✨💫
Thanks!😄💚
Thank you. I love your videos
Glad you like them Robin. xx💚
Thank You . Beautiful video footage. The blackberry s never make it into the house ! What am I doing wrong ??? Lol . Have a fantastic day !!!!
Well tut tut Michael!! You must stop eating them all up😅 Have a wonderful week.
Yes Your right. Thank You for sharing . Love Y'all
We just finished harvesting our blackberries we always eat so many as we pick yum yum. I’m so envious of your rain here in Oregon in the USA we’ve been living in a drought we’re hoping for a snow winter. Enjoy your videos very much take care.
I know, and we would wish for a little less but it's what makes Ireland so green.😄
What lovely gifts you made!
Thank you! x
I love that you can make so much with just one plant! I have a single blackberry bush that last year produced such an abundant harvest which sadly... i failed to harvest and they all froze in a sudden storm.. but the next time they fruit i'll be sure to harvest them on time!
Educational video, you make it look so easy. It's a gray Sunday morning here in Missouri USA. Thank you for another very enjoyable video. Your pets are so cute!
Hi Judy. After a number of grey days we had sunny spells with rainbows today. Have a great week!
Hello Terry, we have just received rain the last 24 hours of which is the first in several months. I am so thankful for the down pour, as I have had to water weekly to keep many things alive. Also, here in south Arkansas, the humidity stays, it seems, forever and sucks the moisture right out. Although it is not completely gone yet, this recent rain helped to move it out somewhat. We have much dew berries on our land, but have never produced any berries, I believe because mostly in the shade. As they are a near relative to the domesticated blackberry, from what you shared today I will gather the leaves and process them to add to my tea stash. The landscape is so beautiful there, and as always, I enjoy and appreciate all you share. Have a great week. In Joy
You too Vivian - many blessings to you and your garden xx
Thanks so much ❤️🌷🙂
Hi D'Arcy - you're very welcome. xx
Thank you. Fantastic help Teri. Blessings.
you're welcome Lois. Beannachtaí
Thank you for this wonderful blackberry video. Where we are from they are very plentiful. As usual Terri, your presentations are comforting and lovingly informative.
Thank you Jeff, lovely to hear you find them so. xx🙏
Thanks for your video. Here in Italy we don t have mullen so high.
Your explanation is very clear Your dogs are very pleasant.

Lovely video. Reminds me of helping mom make blackberry jelly..... yummy
Your a tonic Terri! 🌀
Thanks Miranda!💞
Many thanks Dear Lady and all yours! What a beautiful gift your sharings are ❤️❤️❤️ Blue sky for a moment here as well. I was wondering if there was a way I could use the last of the berries now. Blessings to you and all of your and all of us 🙏🙏🙏
Blessings to you Jennifer. So glad you enjoyed the video. Hopefully we will see more blue skies next week. Lots of rainbows here today.
Looks delicious 👍
Very tasty!😄
I really enjoyed the cinematography of this one! Beautiful
Thank you very much! GreatDay!
Definitely missed a lot of juice and vinegar that are still in the berries. Need to squeeze all the goodness out that is in them after soaking. Have made this and other berry vinegars for many years. Take care and have a blessed day. ❤️🍀
You too. x
I enjoy your lovely informative videos. I planted a couple of everbearing red and black raspberries this year. I got enough red raspberries to make a topping for a cheesecake (my husband was happy) and a few black to nibble from the vine. Hopefully next year I'll get a better crop. I did make a basil lemon vinegar that was divine. I hope to get to the farmers market this week and get some fruit. I have a lot of tomatoes and basil still to process from my garden. Have a Blessed week 🍁🍂🌻
God Bless the work, as we say in Ireland. Your vinegar sounds tasty.
Amazing very inspirational thank you.
Thank you Stephen, glad you enjoyed it.
I wouldn’t make it to the vinegar or crumble with Blackberries …I wouldn’t be able to not eat them lol we have a wild bramble bush and also my Husband bought two plants from Asda we’ve had a few Blackberries this year 2023 Hampshire. I’ve eaten them ☝️😅
Thankyou Terri and Lol another beautiful video. 💜🌻☘️
Such a lovely video Terri, thank you for sharing your beautiful part of the world and all your wisdom, sending warm wishes from Canada
Warm wishes to you too Ellen. Have a great week.xx
It would be nice if this were taste a vision. Enjoyed the video. Thank you
One day maybe ...😅 Glad you liked it.
Very nice. Thanks for another vid :)

I'm glad you enjoyed it Dave - thanks for watching🌻
my books just came in the post--thank you for the little message inside each book--such a lovely touch!! have time off at the end of this month so i will be reading them both!!! thank you again!! :)
So glad they arrived safely - eventually! Glad you enjoyed reading them xx
So enjoyd again your beautiful video dear sister - thank you for share all recepts for blackberry ..love them very much too. In germany is this time unfortunately already over again..
Nearly all over here too - the heavy rain ruined a lot of them xx
Yes to lot rain will make this , right ..Hugs
My brother n law in county Cork said the blackberries and raspberries were really loaded this year! They are getting lots of rain too!
Yes there are lots of them here too because it has been such a year of growth. Sadly, they are just about finished now although I did get a small punnet today.
Blackberries are already gone in my area of the US but definitely want to infuse vinegar next year!
If the Blackberries are finished maybe there are other berries you can harvest. Anything can be infused in vinegar. Maybe there are some Elderberries or Sloes?
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Yes. I will look! Can't wait to try some!
Can't stop picking.... I'm like a woman obsessed! What vinegar did you use Terri?
Ha ha! I know the feeling. This time I used white vinegar because I wanted the colour to be bright as I was making gifts. Usually I use ACV for the extra medicinal qualities.
Hiya Terri most enjoyed watching and learning. Oh I do love blackberries in any form. Currently drinking a tisane with blackberry leaves. I might just try this, sorry I think I missed the quantities you used and is it white vinegar? The imagery of your videos are lovely I believe that’s your husband behind the camera? Well done if so. Oh Terri loved your pink booties! Lol I hope that all the rain caused you no damage? Take care stay safe blessings to you and yours Thankyou Ontario Canada 🐝
Hi Beverley, this time I used white malt vinegar to show off the lovely colour but I also use ACV. No damage from the rain just very soggy ground. Blessings to you and yours xx
Hi Terri it's the time of year for harvesting what we can. I've grown thornless blackberry at my allotment and I've had so many it's been a brilliant year for them. Can I ask what vinegar u use as I've a bowl full of blackberries picked fresh today and just waiting to be used. As always lovely video and it's great to see u looking so well .... despite the rain 🙏
It has been a great year here too, although they got off to a very late start. Still lots and lots to harvest yet. I used ordinary white vinegar this time because I wanted the colour to be bright as Iwas making gifts. For an oxymel I will use Apple Cider Vinegar.
Thanks so much Terri...your blackberry vinegar looked such a beautiful colour and I can't wait to try some. I'll be making some oxymel too. Thanks again 🙏
Beautiful! I was just saying to my children when out in the bush and looking at the wild blackberry brambles that I wonder if I can dye yarn and fibres with them. How perfect that they have so many uses and they are considered a pest in Australia too so we're allowed to cut harvest them from public areas. Thank you again.
It is hard to believe, isn't it, that something so beneficial is regarded in that way. ??
Hi Terri enjoyed your video on Blackberries. Just wondering where you got the bottles. Thanks from a past student Colette.
Hi Colette, how are you? They are Kilner bottles, I picked them up in Super Valu but they can be got in any supermarket, Dunnes for example. xxx
Hi Terri , I was wondering if you could share where you get your organic seeds from that is “trusted”. Also I was wondering if you thinking of doing a video on what fruit /veg/herbs would good to plan out your garden to be as self sufficient as possible while providing all the necessary nutrients for survival. Xxxx
Are you in Ireland? I buy my seeds from Irish Seed Savers. They grow plants specifically to harvest and sell the seeds. I am wary even of organic seed sellers as they buy seeds from companies owned by the baddies. As for fruit and veg, I couldn't really say because it would depend on your climate and location. I grow what grows well here and as time goes on I am not wasting time and space on things that are novelties, I just put in more Kale or more Carrots.
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden I live in West Yorkshire England so I’m finding it difficult to get seeds that I trust. Thanks xx
@@samanthataylor4163 Irish Seed Savers post out. The grow plants and then harvest the open pollinated seed.
May i ask what kind of vinegar do you use for the BlackBerry vinegar? Apple cider, white balsamic... Thanks so much. I remember making oxymel last year when you did the video. Time to make some more. Have a lovely week Terri.
Of course you may ask. Usually I use ACV for its medicinal qualities. This time I used white vinegar because I wanted to make gifts and I wanted it to be really bright in colour. Have a lovely week yourself. xx
Hi Terri, another lovely video! Quick question, how long do you keep the berries infused in the vinegar before you strain them, and is there a particular berry to liquid ratio? Many thanks and warmest regards from Toronto, Canada.
Leave them a couple of weeks when it is a soft berry. Just cover them with the vinegar and that's it.

-Can u use any fruit? raspberry blueberry cherry.
This might seem odd question...
-Can u use frozen fruits...

I would use any fresh berries, not frozen because of the water content. Danu is the Irish Mother God, she is the mother of Fairy Race, the Sidh, known as the Tuatha de Danaan. My address is Bunowen, Ballyconneely, clifden, Co. Galway, Eire. Thank you for your lovely comments.xx
Thk u wonderful sister.
If I were in ireland... I'd come and help u gather herbs fruit w our baskets
Then I'd bring some nice lemon verbena tea some marzipan I made maybe rye bread w pesto.

Sooo healing.

What a lovely video, thank you. Did you use ordinary white vinegar? Also, how long do you think your lovely blackberry vinegar will keep?
Thank you Anya. I usually use ACV but this time I used white vinegar as I was making gifts and I wanted the colour to be bright.
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden It would be extra delicious with apple cider vinegar wouldn't it!? But definitely brighter color with the white.
What vinegar do you use for this blackberry vinegar please Terri we have loads of blackberries this year
I just use white malt vinegar, distilled vinegar xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Thanks, ideal always have white vinegar in for making cleaning products. looking forward to making this, love anything blackberry.💖
At around 6:45 you say, "The vinegar is of course alkalizing and will have extracted lots of minerals from the brambles." I am confused. How is an acid (vinegar) alkalizing? I am also interested in how the vinegar extracts minerals, which sounds very interesting. Thank you for another great video!
Whilst vinegar is acidic, Apple Cider Vinegar, once it is inside us, becomes alkalysing - don't ask me how as chemistry is not a strong point. This is why ACV is such a help to people with arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. The vinegar is a solvent which is how it extracts the minerals. Different solvents work slightly differently to one another. xx
Terri - do you use apple cider vinegar or regular white vinegar? Thank you!
Hi Jen - Usually I would use ACV because of its medicinal qualities but this time I used white vinegar so that the colour would be bright as I was giving it as a gift.
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Thank you :)
I know where there are loads. I better hurry! Just one question Terri...is it true the blackberries are full of little bugs? Thanks💚 Oh, and what vinegar did you use?
Our Blackberries are not full of bugs. If something, anything is past it, starting to rot, there may be bugs. In Ireland we never pick them after Samhain (Halloween). This time I used white vinegar but usually I use ACV.
My dear I don’t know if you have any idea what would stop tremors in the hand but it would be so much appreciated I have tried all kinds of herbs from the Herb shop and none of them help a lot of wasted money. I know I have inherited it from my family mom and dad both had them and now my children are getting them so if you can help me in anyway I would be so much appreciative!!!!!
Dear Lillian, I wish I could. I cannot say beyond you may need a nervine of some kind but this would be a deep problem that would need a consultation. I suggest you consult with a herbalist near to you who can get deep into all your health picture, your family history, your diet and everything else that goes into making you who you are. xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden I have tried herbals list also I am trying your plantain this morning I am sipping it now I will let you know if it has any effect you may help many others with it Millions have the same problem I have checked that out
Hello Terry, how do I prepare the vinegar? Thanks. See you
You just pour it over the fruit or the herbs and that's it.
May I ask what type of vinegar you use please? Is it plain white or brown vinegars or apple cider vinegar?
This was the response she gave to someone who gave a similar question...
Apple Cider Vinegar for the oxymel and a good quality white wine or distilled vinegar. xx
I love it with apple cider vinegar because it gives it a sweeter taste.
@@LadyCoyKoithank you
Does it still have the taste of vinegar?
No, it tastes lovely and fruity.
Danu, how long does the blackberry vinegar last? Will it be good for a year?
Yes Lisa, it should stay good for a year. Vinegar lasts a long time and is used for preserving so I would say easily a year.
Thank you for this video! We have so many wild brambles here and im trying to discover more ways to use them❤
You are so welcome!
My daughter who is pregnant has been told taking elderberry or echinacea is not a good idea? There’s me singing the praises, of natural vitamins too! I’m dubious about saying anything more to her now. I made a batch elderly syrup too 🙁
Sadly there seems to be a growing trend of pushing fear around the use of herbs during pregnancy. Neither of those herbs are on a list to avoid. Obviously, anything that is ingested during pregnancy must be in small doses and for small periods of time and that must be especially in relation to drugs!
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden thank you 🙏 I shall pass on your thoughts, and the syrup.
do you cook the blackberries in vinegar? or put vinegar in the berries and let it sit?
Put the Blackberries in the jar and cover with vinegar. Leave to stand for a couple of weeks.
May I ask what kind of vinegar that you used please? I am from the states. Montana!
Apple Cider Vinegar for the oxymel and a good quality white wine or distilled vinegar. xx
What is the large bush by your gate called?
On the right hand side going out, there is an Alder tree, which is quite short due to the wind. On the left hand side as you go out, there is some Willow, a Spirea and something else I can't remember the name of.😄
I have blackberries without thorn can you still use the new leaves for tea?
If you have new leaves coming - yes, use them. The leaves here are too old now.
HOW did u pik a bowl n not get it on ur fingers😁
Don't know??? Expertise? Licked my fingers?
What kind of vinegar did you use?
I used white malt vinegar for this recipe for the colour. I also use ACV
Did you use white vinegar or apple cider vinegar?
Both. I used white vinegar this time for the colour, as the bottles will be gifts; I use ACV for medicine or oxymels.
