This was my first IMAX experience -- I'd heard they were big and loud, but holy wow, I totally was blown away. To see my favorite band larger than life, it was incredible. The energy, the sound, the crowd, the lights -- I know the band wasn't thrilled to be doing the project, but damn, they pulled it off in true Queen fashion. Thank you to everyone who worked on this project and made it possible for us to experience Queen in such a larger than life, yet intimate way.
I was in the audience at the Forum that evening in 1981. I still have my ticket and I have wonderful memories of that show. I miss John and Freddie so much.
It's a truism, but Queen's music is immortal and timeless. They're just incomparably larger-than-life legends. PS Freddie, I love you always. You're forever in our hearts and greatly missed.
I bought the first release in VHS some 30 years ago and watching in IMAX was jaw dropping. Roger banged the hell out of those drums! Thanks for doing this.
I bought the VHS We Will Rock You for $20 from Tower Video in NYC. Went January 21, 2024 Sunday to both showings 6PM and 8:30 p.m. but only over 30 patrons for both possibly because of the NFL playoffs.
Oh, my God, Brian says it was not perfect. What is perfect if this is not? Somebody to Love from this concert is the greatest live rock performance ever.
Brian's guitar string broke during "Somebody to Love." Freddie put a little more time during the audience interaction moment to give Brian time to quickly make a fix. They were *always* subtly watching & communicating with each other.
All four were great songwriters too. Freddie was always the focus for the band. I hesitate greatly to call Freddie overrated but I think it's more a case of the others being underrated. People tend to focus too much on Freddie's stage presence.
I watched it in the IMAX in Amsterdam this Sunday. Even though I've already seen the show multiple times (on HD DVD! Remember that?), on the big screen so many more details stood out to me. I could really tell the physical intensity of Roger's drumming work, and just how tricky some of Brian's guitar parts are. The 12-string guitar on Love Of My Life looks genuinely *hard* to play and you could see Brian struggling to hit the right notes at the right time. As for Freddie, strange as it might sound with his larger-than-life persona on the massive screen, to me he felt more real and more human than ever before. It truly was, for lack of better words, as if you were on stage there with the band.
I've never played a 12-string guitar (similar to playing a 6-string one, with a fuller sound) but the acoustic version of Love Of My Life is actually quite easy to play.
It was a phenomenal performance. Watching Brian’s face as he focuses on the notes he’s playing, watching Roger keeping time on the drums, watching Freddie strut around & sing with such strength and watching Deakie dancing around having fun was just pure joy! The piece de resistance is seeing the band interact, entertain & play their hearts out on IMAX! It was a surreal, wonderful experience! Thank you!!!
Just saw the movie on IMAX. Great experience. I was born 9 months earlier. Never saw Freddie live; this was the closest. Even more than "Love of my life" live in recent years, with Freddie's video.
The show was superb. I don’t get out often, but I’m glad I made the decision to go see this. It was my first time experiencing IMAX and the show rocked my socks off! Queen Forever!!
I'm from the states, and I love Queen. I went to see Queen Rock Montreal all four days it was in the theaters. It was absolutely AMAZING! I hope more Queen concerts will be released in IMAX. Brian & Roger, thanks for doing this. This was the closest experience I've ever had to being to a Queen concert.
😍🤩You have company. I went all 4 days too. And I'm going Friday again. It's showing one more day in my area. I'll be giving Love of my life, Save Me, Dragon Attack, Another One Bites the Dust, Boh Rap, Now I'm Here, Tie Your Mother Down standing ovation. As I list them I realize all deserve standing O. Under Pressure yesss. I clapped and sang all the songs. Only Keep Yourself Alive I didn't know all the words to so I have before Friday. Hope you get to see it one more time too.🤗
I went all 4 days and will be going back again on Friday. As Roger said I hung on every word, every breath, every movement of Bri, Deaky, Freddie and Roger. I sang and clapped blissfully. Thank you guys💖💖💖💖
I thoroughly enjoyed the four's wonderful Montreal live performance. Finally, my lachrymal glands relaxed. Freddie, Brian, Roger and Deacon, thank you for the inspiration!
Saw it in IMAX at Glasgow. Breathtaking. Crystal clear and amazing audio. Wish they could do that with Wembley “86. Best We Will Rock You I’ve ever heard!!! 💛
Saw it on IMAX, Pittsburgh on Saturday & Sunday night. So glad I went twice. Queen, you are a phenomenal live band. You can bring it back to the theater any time you want and I will go watch it again. Rog, I was noticing how y'all were looking at each other and playing off each other and it was so exciting to watch the 4 of you riff and improvise on the fly. THANK YOU for bringing this to the big screen❣
Saw the movie this past Sunday, Jan 21st. Incredible in IMAX! I was lucky enough to see Queen with Freddie 5 times, including a show at the 3500 seat Tower Theatre in PA for the Night at the Opera tour. God Bless you!
Saw it past weekend in Riga IMAX. The experience is just otherworldly, so much energy and life on screen. Thank you for bringing that masterpiece of a performance to the big screen!
I'm from Trinidad and saw it last Friday. It was spectacular! So much amazing talent! I adore Freddie Mercury and miss him everyday. It was an absolute privilege to be able to see this IMAX and share the experience with friends and fans
I saw this tour in Toronto, Canada August 30, 1980, at the CNE... The moving light pods Queen had on that tour were crazy!!!!... The best light show I have ever seen to this day!!... The band Dakota opened the show
I was at that show too! I remember they had to use the CNE Grandstand stage and so they were unable to build and use the raised platforms on either side of the stage, which also meant the lighting was impacted because they had lights running underneath these platforms that were synched with the drum riser lights (as you can see in the Rock Montreal film). I remember they opened with Jailhouse Rock, which really surprised me. I also remember Brian talking to the audience and saying that this was the most unusual concert setup they ever had (it was certainly unique) and that they didn't normally do open air concerts...but if they were all going to be like this, they'd need to consider doing more. Little did they know! This was probably the best of the shows they did in Toronto....though the News of the World show with the "Crown" lighting rig was really, really good too. I saw every show they played in Toronto (7 in total), including both shows in 78 and in 82 at the Gardens.
This has been one of my favorite recorded live performances for years. I took my parents to see the IMAX presentation and it was GLORIOUS! I'm glad that this was as much a joy for Roger & Brian as it was for the fans that caught this IMAX release. Truly a snapshot of Queen in its prime before reaching another level of grandness captured on Live at Wembley. What is the quality of the master material available for Wembley? Would it be feasible to remaster Wembley to a higher level as well with today's technology? (Maybe not IMAX, but something greater than what we have & possibly a limited theatrical release?)
Unfortunately Wembley was shot on videotape, not on film, so the recording will always be limited to the PAL television format. These days it might be possible to use AI upscaling to get more out of the picture, but I doubt it'll ever look as real and tangible as Rock Montreal did on the big screen.
Probably wont work for Wembley. But we have Budapest, which was recently remastered in 4k/bluray and has such good quality as Montreal in terms of video for the time it was shot. Its a good candidate to be released on Imax in the future.
My 17 year old son and I saw it this past Sunday!! What an experience! The entire band was on fire😮 For people who aren’t musicians, to play at that level live without any aids (or cheating devices) is hard to comprehend. Great band and a great performance 🇨🇦🇨🇦
I have to say, this IMAX release really blew me away, the energy the loudness and the performance was absolutely amazing and love seeing my most favorite band of all time play and sing and everything!
Many thanks for sharing this magnificent video. A long time ago, four guys come together to make music. And now, they're all legends! Congratulations, it is a wonderful achievement.
Saw this in Philadelphia on the heels of a snowstorm. Was such a tremendous experience. Thank you, gentlemen, for all your hard work, and your perspectives 😁
I loved watching this in IMAX. I felt like I was young again, watching Queen live, I even went home with a sore throat, from all my singing. The part I didn’t like, was when the camera panned over the crowd. They didn’t know what to do, I loved it when Freddie them to move. I would love to see Wembley 86 in IMAX, I was there and we were rocking!
We encouraged our 9 year old Freddie Mercury fan at the cinema. He sang along loudly, to the amusement of the audience. The high notes of Bohemian Rapsodie would have made Roger Taylor green with envy.
What an incredible experience! I attended with my brothers reminiscing our high school and college years with this amazing band! As the youngest I was never able to see a live performance with Freddie Mercury so I am very grateful to see this performance near the top of his game! Everyone was so good…Brian and Roger rocked the house! Great to John as well on bass. Thank you to the band for creating such an amazing experience 42 years later! God bless
The IMAX experience is like no other. This blew me away!! Being so close to Freddie was serene. I hope there are more if these in the future. Wembley would be awesome!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Did a 50 mile round journey after a 10 hour early shift to see this at the Perth (Scotland) Imax on 19/01/24. I'd seen Queen in '86 on the Magic tour but my better half had never caught the band, so it was great to get as close as possible to as experiencing the band live on stage. Many thanks for the music, and hope to buy a the home release on Blu-ray.
nice commentary. I never saw them live (with Freddie), so I went to IMAX for this experience. Then I went back the next night, and the next. beautifully filmed and presented.
I saw it on thursday and loved it! It almost felt like you were there in Montreal 1981.. (I also agree with Brian when he said that they could be more experimental now. Their concerts with Adam are great but their setlists are always pretty much the same.)
I saw it in Wilmington, Delaware. It was amazing to see the band so up close, and the sound was amazing. What stood out for me was Roger behind the drums, to see him so hard at work, and so full of joy!
So beautiful how Roger and Brian speak so fondly of Freddie, and Brian's commentary, especially, of how mesmerizing it is to watch Freddie...."You want to see every breath he takes." Yep, that's exactly how Freddie's fans feel, too!! Freddie is an experience like no other, as even his bandmates recognize. Thank you for all the music, Queen. RIP, beautiful legend. 🌹❤
I grew up as a kid watching this on vas then when it was on dvd I watched it and as it got reworked and released on blu ray I had to have it and then seeing it in IMAX was like watching it for the first time all over again, you really feel like you are on stage with them and the sound hits like never before. Its amazing to see this in person and I hope its not the last to see it. I will happily pay to watch it over and over again in IMAX thank you Queen this single concert alone has changed my life in so many positive ways!
So sad when I learned that Indonesia wasn't on the list of participating country. Then two days ago I discovered that this incredible concert would play here in my country. I booked the ticket and watched the first show this afternoon. OMG! This is a must see! Will definitely watch at least more time. Thank you Queen, thank you IMAX, and thank you for all involve in restoring and enhancing this masterpiece.
Saw it, it was jaw dropping, and so fascinating after seeing Queen + Adam Lambert in October…Freddie lives…and yes, 4 people the universe thankfully put together to bring us all such joy. Thank you, Brian, Roger, John and Freddie…Queen forever!
Too see this “brothers from another mother” together, and enjoy their voices is a treasure we need value so much… Please your last dance with South America after Japan!
I like when Brian says we were good these four guys changed music especially live they're probably the best live band in music history Brian Roger John and of course Mr Mercury 👑
It was the BEST experience seeing this in IMAX. I had watched several times at home, but in theaters was unforgettable. Also, seeing Freddie life-size on screen with something I never thought I’d be able to do.
Definetly watching in Imax . Your my favorite band. I was 8 when I atarted listening To you . When Another in bites the dust came out. Love Freddie❤❤❤🎶🎵🎤🥁🌟🤩⭐
Dos legendarias y lindas reinas, Roger taylor y Brian May. QUEEN forever, FREDDIE MERCURY lives forever! ❤ 👑🌍⭐️🧚♂️💛
❤ My husband and I enjoyed the IMAX show immensely. We never saw them live. Thank you to Brian and Roger for keeping Queen alive but we do miss Freddie and John 🥰
I miss his input and thoughts. So Mr. deacon if you ever read these columns, we your fans would love to hear from you. I know you have retired but a thought now and then would be great
This was my first IMAX experience -- I'd heard they were big and loud, but holy wow, I totally was blown away. To see my favorite band larger than life, it was incredible. Amen to that! LOVED every second!
same same
I was in the audience at the Forum that evening in 1981. I still have my ticket and I have wonderful memories of that show. I miss John and Freddie so much.
Wow what a fantastic memory don't suppose you took any photos 🤞

@@ManChan-w5p even so the vhs sound was still good wasn’t it? I think it’s because of the band.
@@thereselee5969 that was something to see!
according to brian, the vhs one is the worst cut
Oh, my God, Brian says it was not perfect. What is perfect if this is not? Somebody to Love from this concert is the greatest live rock performance ever.
If anything, it's the little imperfections that make this feel so human, so real.
This really was perfection. No other word for it.
Indeed human
Brian's guitar string broke during "Somebody to Love." Freddie put a little more time during the audience interaction moment to give Brian time to quickly make a fix. They were *always* subtly watching & communicating with each other.
Of course that's just my opinion but 11/25's STL isn't even the best performance of the song in that year let alone the greatest ever
Brian AND Roger AND John ARE!!! as essential as Freddie. The 4 are magnificent TOGETHER ❤❤❤❤
All four were great songwriters too. Freddie was always the focus for the band. I hesitate greatly to call Freddie overrated but I think it's more a case of the others being underrated. People tend to focus too much on Freddie's stage presence.

👑IT'S INCREDIBLY CONCERT.. FULL OF ENERGY 🔥.WE IN POLAND LOVE QUEEN...ALWAYS AND FOREVER ♥️😘🇵🇱

Mi banda favorita 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I recently saw this at my local ciniworld it was incredible!!!!❤❤
Saw it, it was jaw dropping, and so fascinating after seeing Queen + Adam Lambert in October…Freddie lives…and yes, 4 people the universe thankfully put together to bring us all such joy. Thank you, Brian, Roger, John and Freddie…Queen forever!
Gracias!
I was lucky enough to see the film in San Antonio three times. Loved every moment. Love live Queen. 🎉👑💎😘❤🎹🥂🎸🌻🥁
Thank you for another great video.
Thank you for this amazing experience. My friend and I sang throughout. I was amazed that all your cords didn't get tangled. ❤❤❤❤
Really need this on Blu-Ray, what a masterpiece
Two legends - I'm glad that they are so strong and loyal and that's how the show goes on, reaching new generations...
It was the BEST experience seeing this in IMAX. I had watched several times at home, but in theaters was unforgettable. Also, seeing Freddie life-size on screen with something I never thought I’d be able to do.
Saw it in Madrid, Spain 🇪🇸 and totally incredible....wow what a Queen trip back n time! Thank you!❤
Definetly watching in Imax .
Your my favorite band.
I was 8 when I atarted listening
To you . When Another in bites the dust came out. Love Freddie❤❤❤🎶🎵🎤🥁🌟🤩⭐
Maravilhoso,saudades, lembranças dos tempo bons.
Dos legendarias y lindas reinas, Roger taylor y Brian May.
QUEEN forever, FREDDIE MERCURY lives forever! ❤
👑🌍⭐️🧚♂️💛
Would've loved to have been there ❤. But, just watching them play their finest...was good enough! QUEEN did ROCK!❤🎉❤
❤ My husband and I enjoyed the IMAX show immensely. We never saw them live. Thank you to Brian and Roger for keeping Queen alive but we do miss Freddie and John 🥰
as a bass player myself i still give a lot of credit to decey here.. he's so glueing it all together!
I love Queen especially Freddie he was brilliant up there with Elvis.
I miss his input and thoughts. So Mr. deacon if you ever read these columns, we your fans would love to hear from you. I know you have retired but a thought now and then would be great
