I have always respected the Japanese people for being among the first to recognize the greatness of Queen. It is amazing how they understood this long before many in the West, and certainly in the USA (where I live).

Queen had their first big break in Japan before they became big elsewhere including their homeland. The members were surprised and thankful, and they never forgot that. They expressed their gratitude by making the song "Teo Toriatte (Let Us Cling Together)", sung partly in Japanese. I don't think the song is well known, but it's a little gem. What a beautiful gesture. I was still a young boy when I heard it on Japanese TV, and I thought, hmm, they speak Japanese!

you can tell that they're overwhelmed by the welcome they were given, something they would never have gotten even in their home country at this time. iirc brian said they even cried after arriving at the airport bc they couldn't believe how many people had come to see them and cared so much about them. one of my fave periods of queen history :3

Well, in Britain, tea is like a stereotype of sorts. You'd have to expect them liking it- and biscuits, too.
Roger was really the only one with a true rock star attitude. Brian was also an English gentleman.

Love how shy they all are on camera speaking to the people of Japan and then they go and perform and turn into completely different personalities!
That is what has struck me most about the band - being a relatively new obsession for me and looking through their back catalogue- they are all shy, reserved and considerate people. Freddie especially. On stage he has this raw uncontrolled sexual energy, too big for him circa 1974 when he appeared like a tiny doll, almost ethereal. The older and bigger he got physically the more he seemed to command and direct that energy. Off stage he looks so soft I just wanna hug him! It's all going on behind those beautiful dark eyes which you never really get to see because he is so shy.
Chocolate Chipmunk exactly. 😊U can see in some interviews with Freddie or in good photographs, those beautiful, intense, mesmerizing, deep, soulful eyes. All of that came out in his music. ❤️
@@mariegrimes8085 Yes 💖 Song writing and playing the piano are introverted pursuits, it's the presentation of the music that is oh so exposed, but Freddie mastered that art, shook it up and down, and smashed us with it! Makes you wonder what it did to the tender person inside. Freddie seems to grow into interviews as he becomes older and bolder (or he perfects the art of acting!), but those early photographs and clips undo me....he's always trying to hide. There is one clip (I've seen so many) where he actually looks into the camera for a whole 2 seconds and then covers his face with his hair. Utterly adorable 💖 and unexpected
Chocolate Chipmunk oh yes u can definitely see the transformation (or growth) in the interviews. It’s unfortunate that he grew to “hate” interviews because he was always so eloquent and it was so very interesting to hear directly from this musical genius.
@@mariegrimes8085 Agreed 😁 it's a travesty for us fans that there aren't more interviews available. I could listen to Freddie speak all week (and possibly have😂). I can understand his reluctance to interview though. They say the eyes are the windows to the soul, for a man trying to physically hide, you can only imagine the emotional intrusion. Besides, I heard the media were really quite ill mannered towards the band generally. The interviews we have are precious

この翌年にクイーンと出会いました。クイーンは兄の影響で、ビートルズとほぼ同時期にラジオで知ったのですが、その出会いはあまりにも衝撃的で、それからはクイーンの曲をカセットテープで聞きまくって、クイーン、クイーン、クイーンの毎日だったと思います。当時家にはステレオがなかったので、親に言って図書館にクイーンを聞きに行ってました。子供だったので、炎のロックンロールとかオウガバトルとかを歌詞カードと照らし合わせて覚えて、デタラメな英語で歌っていました。(^_^;)その延長線上で、中学生のとき歌のテストでウィーウィルロックユーを歌い、先生に凄く誉められたのです。(^_^)/~

Japan always had a knack for recognizing pure talent. People must have loved how Queen combined opera and rock and all the anthems that Queen made. It’s crazy to think that they got so big in Japan before they got so famous even in their own country.
To see all of them fooling around and trying to disturb the other's speeches makes it visible that they are not just bandmates, but friends too... love you guys, you all were some kind of handsome (especially Roger was), I'm happy I changed my music taste!!!💗💗💗

Wow!!! I cannot even imagine how overwhelmed they must have been visiting Japan and receiving such an incredible welcome. They were all so young and it was a huge deal to travel such a long distance in 1978. Plus the added culture shock. It makes me smile to see how happy they were and truly grateful and humbled by the reception they received!

I love this video. They all had an innocence, a naivete about them. And their parents did a wonderful job teaching them manners which is apparent at the tea and in their farewells.

今のタレントさんとは違って謙虚さが目立つ。
後々のインタビューでもミュージシャンではない、クリエイターでありアーティストと言ってたように、物作りをする人、という印象。
当時はファンじゃなかったのに、クイーンだけはほとんどの楽曲を知っている。
映画ボヘミアンラプソディーを観てあらためて凄いアーティストだったのだと思い知った。

I was 13 and remember clearly about the day they came. This tea ceremony thing on every magazine and so on. Girls who made a fuss were fascinated by their looks and the sound. I suppose if Roger was less handsome, they could have been recognized as rock stars earlier in other countries too.

Queen was/is the greatest group ever, to me they are still my favorite and they just could not have been anymore exciting than they were. I was amazed with them in the early 70's and still listen to them In fact I just finished puchasing 2 of their dvds and I have just about all of their albums. They really rock!
