Thousands of dollars spent on private investigations in order to prove that someone is committing fraud against a n insurance company. If the person actually is committing such fraud, then fine! If the insurance company is trying to see how little they can pay to someone who ISN'T committing fraud, orl is doing everything possible to delay payments to someone who actually needs it, then it is the insurance company that is wasting the time and money so that they can be the ones who are committing the fraud against their customers.

If they got the wrong person, which we see happen, then they have no evidence against you.

Setting social media to private doesn't really help. It just causes them to subpoena Facebook or Twitter or anything else for your posts. Now here is the thing. I imagine that even if they find one with your name they need some photos of you on it so they can prove it is yours. I know there are people with really common names and I even have a relative who has a very common surname. What it is I will not tell but it is one of those ones that turns up everywhere. I probably have relatives with the other very common ones too and just don't know it.
What I am saying really is that even if they think they found your social media they would need to find photos of you or a close relative or family member to try to make the connection on that account with you. These investigators also work for a variety of people even the SSA to check up on someone to make sure they really are disabled. Just because one of those investigators is watching you it does not necessarily mean that they will get anything useful for a judge to terminate your benefits. If anything they may even get favorable evidence showing that your condition is actually worse. I imagine that is what most people hope for really or at the very least evidence that proves they are disabled.
