I'm about to do mine. Do you know if the new drain plug comes with the washer (seal) that can be separed from the plug? Thinking about only changing the seal. Thanks for your video!
Any time you buy a new plug for a Euro car, the seal is always afixed to it. Removing it will tear it up. However I don't see why one could not cut the seal off of the old plug, measure it and find some metric replacements and keep using the same plug. I did always think that replacing the plug each time was a bit silly. Now doing all of this and expecting it to NOT leak is a pipe dream. 😁
My last oil change cost me $62 at Napa. I used Liqui Moli oil and a Napa gold oil filter. I replace the oil drain plug as well but I already had a new one on hand. Most manufacturers will tell you 8000 to 10000 oil change interval these days. However I'd recommend every 5000. Just count by 5000 and you don't have to write it on a sticker plus it's easy on the engine.
I appreciate prompt reply to the question. My new job is taking me on the road so I thought a TDI would be good for long distance mileage. I am looking at a 2015 Golf TDI with 80k on the odometer. During your research of the wagon is the maintaince of these vehicles going to be challenging?
i love my sportwagen!
We've really enjoyed ours as well.😀
Me too !
My 2013 jetta 2.0 tdi had the oil filter set up like a vintage MB diesel.

What is the cost to replace the oil filters and the entire oil change? On the next service interval what is ecommended by VW to replace?
