The T56 magnum is such a good upgrade for any car. I can’t believe how easy it seems to be to adapt them with the adapter plates available as well
I’m sure it will be able to handle all the power that the 4 rotor won’t be producing.

Life hack: The fuel gauge in your instrument panel has a fuel pump symbol. Next to the symbol is a triangle pointer and the side that the pointer is on (left or right of the fuel pump) indicates what side your fuel door is on.
I just rebuilt the T56 in my LS 240SX drift/street car so it’s neat to see the differences; watching you drive I can tell the magnum trans is more notchy/deliberate on shifting and has a shorter throw than the regular 6-speed👍
Kame Trick the “magnum” actually means it’s not a T56 at all it’s a TR6060

Hey, just a heads up for basically every car-- Your gas gauge usually has an arrow inside of it pointing to the side the gas door is on. If it doesn't have an arrow, it's the side the gas gauge is on.

It's amazing how much more drivable it is with the new turbo setup. If you and/or your viewers go back and look at the 'What it's like to drive a 3 rotor RX7' video (something like that) you'll be surprised how different it is. The old setup had the worst turbo lag imaginable.
I wonder how much power it would have had with all rotors running full song. Perhaps my 889 hp guess might have been closer. ;-)

Tbh the T56 isn’t a bad trans. It can support up to 500-600 HP. And with the right short shifter 👌🏽. The magnum is just a crazy beast and with the right shirt shifter is an entirely different beast!
This is why the T-56 is one of the most popular aftermarket and stock performance transmissions ever built, able to handle whatever amount of power you throw at it. The Magnum model shouldn't shear the synchronizers like a stock T-56, that's a common complaint.
I just want to see you walk that corvette...

Did you ever look into a MagnumXL? I'm using one for my LS swap in my BRZ. The shifter on the XL is further back than the T56 and lines up dead center to where the stock one used to be!

You can pick these transmissions up for $1500, and they come bolted to an aluminum-block LS motor, so if you need a swap...
T56 holds a lot more power than most other OEM transmissions. I would love to see a T56 and K-swapped Miata. Makes for a heavier trans but a lighter engine, which shifts the weight distribution more rear-ward to get that extra honda power down.

Does it feel more stable and tame because the gears are longer? I know v8 cars always have longer geared transmission's because they don't rev as high as roataries or 4 cylinders (and they have more low-end torque). Also do you have a problem falling out of the power band between gears since the transmission is geared longer?

So a T56 Magnum without bell housing is about 8k new here or I can get used TR6060s for about 3k with a bell housing that just needs the bottom two holes drilled out. Is it worth the price difference or are they essentially the same box?

The LS definitely isn't meant to go up around 8000+ rpm, so how's the t56 hold up at those kinds of rpms on the rotary?

i loved my t56/LS2 in my 06 gto. unfortunately totaled it, (dont drink and drive) never had a chance to get rid of that damn 1st to 4th thing so it was annoying driving it at low speeds. now im currently looking for a t56 to do my ls1 swap on my FD. (rotary peoples anger intensifies) i always liked the notchy shifts it feels so mechanical and direct and i never had a chance to install my gmm ripshifter so i still have it. hopefully it fits on a t56 fom the 99-02 pontiac-camaro that im looking for.

One HUGE downside of the Magnum is shifter location. The problem here is that the term ‘T56 Magnum’ suggests the transmission is a drop-in for the T56. But the shifter is about four inches forward compared to the standard T56. This forces anyone wanting to use this transmission forces T56 applications to cut an additional hole four inches forward and possibly have to deal with interference between the shifter and stereo and/or center console. Or use shifter extenders that may not fit under the car between the transmission and transmission tunnel.
Admittedly, you can now get the Magnum F, which is a true drop-in replacement. But it was a long time coming, which forced MANY people to buy the ill-fitting original. Of course, the Magnum F also costs more.

you know on the dashboard where you gas gage is located, there is a tiny arrow which points either left or right and this lets you know which side the fuel filler door is located

why are the peak HP numbers smaller now than before when you had the dodgy exhaust manifold and the restrictive turbine housing?
