It's almost like, first you draw the soul, then you draw the flesh. awesome.
Thank you my friend!
Cuong Nguyen I should be thanking you your work is inspiring and I've learned a lot just from watching.
what is this.... 'soul'?
Peter Gašperan this is a definition i found that may make the most sense. i’d recommend googling it if you want more info. “the emotional part of human nature; the seat of the feelings or sentiments”
@@AlexisTwoLastNames great that you replied, tho I feel thinking of such things is a waste of time, what difference does it make?
This has been the most therapeutic 13 minutes of this year.
It's funny taht as soon as you touched her eye with the pink colour she suddenly came alive, genius
I'm glad to see in-depth videos of your working progressions; thank you for sharing. I'll be interested to see your next video in the series.
Oh my god, crazy seeing it come to life.
Thanks for these videos. Your progress is amazing to watch.
Beautiful job. Life-like appearance comes from the thin translucent layering effect.
I believe Talent is the ability to make the difficult seem easy and you make this seem very easy. I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel.
I've never seen anyone paint like this, it's magical, lovely and meticulous. Thank you from Porto- Portugal

Read somewhere about Boris Vallejo and his Verdaccio technique. Lookin around and find your vid. Totally love your art work. Is there any books or ref about this technique so i can learn and apply on my miniature painting (acrylic)? Thank you
He is using oils
It is a sad painting= feel to cry with her = a lost soul like most of us
Beautiful job.
Please what colors do you use at 3:28? Is always White Titanium, Yellow Ocra, Ivory Black and Burt Umber? Thank you.
Some more beauties for greater joy.🤗😎🤗
I have visited your website, workshops, but couldnt find any material lists (
Liybov Chekhunova go to 5:20, there is a web address for the materials list.
is the Cadmium Red and Permanent Rose just being applied thinly, or drybrushed or glazed with a medium?
dagoelius with 3/4 turpentine and 1/4 linseed oil.
Nice video, if you want to do class and people's whaching your videos, you have to explain step by step how to do that technique, I am retired with 67 years, I now make techniques and understand what are you doing, I read all the coments and enyone can see, the majority of comments, that they don't understand and learned the technical. Thanks you
A ơi làm thêm 1 video chuyên sâu nữa đi A :)) đẹp quá
how are the paints so translucent when you apply them? Is it linseed oil?
Hello for the nose, lips and cheeks, what is the ratio of the paint you used? Did you use a thinner or added linseed oil to the paint? Thank you
Carlo Oliver Olayta 3/4 turpentine and 1/4 linseed oil. The higher the layer the more linseed oil is used. For the sap green and rose. Using a dry brush will wipe the entire pigment and leave a glazing effect with more turpentine as mentioned.
Do you thin the paint with solvents/thinners? Or do you (idk if possible) thin it with linseed oil? :d
i like it
wow so nice
Hello dear, your technique is amazing . My grandpa was an artist in Brazil, but he died when i was six. I'm learning how to use pastel and i want to understand why do you use green before the skin tones?
Its is an Italian technique called verdaccio. It gives a nice ending work.
Cuong can you please tell me what medium you are mixing with your paints in this video?
On his supply list on his website he has linseed oil listed
😍😍😍
Pardon my ignorance but what did you use to dilute/sheer the red colors (nose eyes lips cheeks)??? Wonderful painting!
Joaneva B dry brush to remove the entire pigment and leave a glazing effect as 3/4 turpentine and 1/4 linseed oil as medium. The higher the layer, the more linseed oil is used.
So the principal is that you paint the blue layer and then add a transparent saturation above? I never though that was possible with oil, I’ve only seen watercolor glaze like that. Amazing painting
looks amazing! Question, why do you use this technique? Because the underlayer is covered in new paint at the end?
At the end of the video, it's just like she is alive and ready to walks out of the frame
did you let the painting dry after you aplied the green/red glazes??
Oh do you always use green as based even in paintings?
Hi ,your Art is amazing, ypi are amazing Artist ,i watch and learn more .
Please sheir what brand of oil and brushes do you use ? It looks so soft and clear.
Thank you for sharing your paintings tu us 👏👏👍❤
I didn't see a materials list on the website.
me either
Hi you can find it here: www.icuong.com/studio-info
@@joseortiz5897 friends, did you find the "COLOR PALETTE" ?
@@joseortiz5897 Thank you!!
♥
I wonder is there a reason you added the first color layer on top of the original sketch and before adding the fleshy tones?
x yg This is called, traditional underpainting. It changes the whole painting compare to the modern ones.
thats beautiul ,also her nose is the same as mine lmao
Your work is absolute brilliance.!!!
Can this technique be used on canvas as well? I'm working on portraits on canvas
Amanda Trevizo it can be used on any surface really
Amanda Trevizo the technique has been around 500 years and used by many painters. Check verdaccio ie painting with green on Wikipedia or other informed sources. Yes of course canvas., infact any surface if it’s properly sealed and primed.
what colors you used for the first coat?gray or green? I mean before the green sap.Thanks. I have your pastel courses.do you currently have a tutorial videos on your site that teaches how to paint in oils for begginers?
Glazing Technique...

Cảm ơn A nhiều!!! kĩ thuật rất hay A ạ. mong cái video của bác :))
❤❤
Thank you for the dissection of your process. I have found portraiture quite taxing due to the ease of comparison to the subject. More tricks and layout is no doubt beneficial to the finished work.
Ohh man, you need to teach me your vocabulary. Such a professional and clear way of using the right words. Love it. Can you tell me more about it?
@@fudgiepie9554 Not sure what you mean, friend.
Hi, Cuong Nguyen! How are you?
Is there a Portuguese or Spanish version for all your ebooks?
Thank you!
what linen did you use? how did you hold the linen tight? what medium did you use

Super
Did you use medium fine detail for mixing colors and put them on a portrait?
What are you thinking the oil paints with when going over the dead layer?
which diluent was used to apply the layers? medium name...pleaass.
nice work cuong. what is the best advice you can give me as an artist?
Keep up drawing and painting my friend :) That's what I do!
Thank you bro. I Hope you get better everyday.
En el sitio www.icuong.com. No existen la lista de materiales . Creo que es importante conocerlos. En donde se puede consultar. Gracias
What happened after 8:12?
Agreed, too large a jump.
Hi ,i dont know if i will get answer but if i have some chance ... do you think this technic can work with acrylics ? That very similar to caravaggio but i find nothing about it with acrylics
what color for the second layer of background pleas
👍bien
Curious, what is your medium to paint ratio? It looks as thin as watercolors.
So the Skin layer is not a glaze?
I thought so first but when trying it myself, the green shines trough too much...
Miguel Lavariel it is a mixture of 3/4 turpentine and 1/4 linseed oil.
desearia saber pintar como tu amigo saludos
Sir did u paint the combination of perm. Red and cad. Red after sap green dried!!.I got confused at that moment.plz reply m painting using this method.
Samir Ghising it is wet. 3/4 turpentine and 1/4 linseed oil. Using a dry brush will make the paint more thinner as underpainting.
Sir, how much time take to dry a layer completely??
내가 하고 싶었던 그림이 이그림이에요. .
I can see you didnt gesso the linen. Did you just started to paint on it or did you put something so it doesn't suck in the oil paint?
Kris Vojna Use a primer. Gesso will do.
what kind of hair are your brushes?
