Had a Shadow phantom 750, FI tuner, Cobra Intake and pipes, 0-60 under 6 seconds, 55-60 mpg on 87 octane. Bike looked awesome, and never had a single problem. I miss it. Felt like a bad ass without spending a ton of money.

I dig your enthusiasm for the older Hondas. My brother used to own a 80s 550 Interceptor and we would take 200 mile road trips. Loved it. Super smooth and very fast. Even with 2 people.

On that note I'd have to say the smoothest most comfortable riding bike with huge fuel mileage range and nothing to prove is the KLR 250 (KD250D15) to be specific, but they're all the same other than the plastics. I highly recommend that bike, for anyone who wants to just get out and ride all day long getting 60-80mpg depending.

I’m actually new to bikes at 61 years of age and looking for guidance on license and training and purchasing a used bike.
I work for JA Cunningham Equpt and get up to our other location in your county and hopefully next time up there I could stop by and chat with y’all and see what you recommend for me to start.
I truly enjoy all of your shows.
    Thank you.

Go to a good motorcycle riding school.
It will teach you more than you can imagine. You will learn to recognize hazards before they become a hazard.
Then buy a smaller bike like a 350. Ride it for a year or more then move up to 650-750 range when your skill level allows and if/when you want to. Don’t go any larger & heavier unless you know what you are doing.
Trust no one on the road. Always maintain a safe cushion. Always wear right helmet and jacket ( and gloves and other gear). Learn how your bike works and learn to do basic maintenance such as oil changes.
      Good luck and stay safe.

The red white and blue RS is a very good looking motorcycle. I've owned many motorcycles, mostly Japanese makes and a few Harleys. The Honda 750 is all the bike anyone needs and they have a great sound from the pipes right from the factory, not too loud, not too quiet, just right. The 750 has plenty of power to have fun with and will cruise down the highway just fine. The Honda truly is all the bike anyone needs, and they will last forever, after all it is a Honda.

  • @stevemadison7895

Riding the 750 RS reminds me of my first bike, a 67 Honda S90. Nearly the same riding posture; alert, focused, businesslike, but more of everything you ride a motorcycle for. This is a good one.

After checking out quite a lot of your reviews I'm starting to think a Honda Shadow fits with low center of gravity, fairly low weight, choices on drive train, seat height, A Light Clutch, a bike that encourages a calm lay back and enjoy the journey without the adrenaline rush I have been known to seek far too often. Thank you so much for your reviews I wish you every success I think you have earned it.

Simplicity in a motorcycle is a good thing. Easy to fix, reliable, dependable. Look at the Japanese bikes from the 60s and 70s for instance. The Honda CB450, 550, 750 four cylinder bikes from the early 70s....they can sit in a barn for 20 years and can be running in just a few hours (unless the engine is totally blown or what have you). On the Classic Octane channel, he posted a video of a 1965 CB77 Super Hawk that had been sitting for 20 years. Checked the oil, checked spark, squirted some fuel into the spark plug openings (carbs were gunked up and stuck)...and the bike started up like it had been started every day.

Honda has made many innovative machines. Top of the heap is the GL1000 from about 1976. It completely blew away the thought on what a motorcycle was. The engineering was decades ahead and yes I own one. The first time I rode one in 1976 it made my new Super Sport 750 four seem archaic, and this was the motorcycle that stunned the world when it was introduced just a few years prior.

I just remember looking at the 80s well the 70s and 80s style and thinking how imperfect the designs were. Like there wasn't any flow to the curves or lack there of. But somehow. It makes sense today. Great job Honda.

Laid it down, insurance company totalled it. The insurance adjuster kept talking about how clean it was. It wasn't hurt that bad.

I agree, it is a really solid bike. I owned this (400cc ) back in 1991. It was known as Steed in Asia / Japan. The smallest version is 400cc. Honda used the same frame for the 400cc, 600cc and 750cc. Many parts remain the same over the last 30yrs. Simple clean , bullet proof! 💪✌️👍

My first brand new bike was a 1978 Honda 750. Sold new for $1,600. Last year for adjustable rocker arms. No hassles of using shims to adjust valves as with the later ones.. It was a great bike for riding around town but I did go on one thousand mile trip with it. Bought an Interstate after the 750.

Still slow, heavy and only able to hold its own against brit bikes of the era in flat track or roadracing because the AMA kept changing the rules to protect it. Everywhere else harleys 'racebike' never won shit. That kinda says it all really.

Do with customer base, rheir dealers will attempt to kill things they dont approve of with shitty attitude (Buell) they refuse to acknowledge issues, they take things their core Market wont buy (new innovative) and let the same boomer generation do the styling and bike design so. They dont make anything worthwhile.
Any genuinely cool design they trickle release so not to 'devalue' next years release which is why theres more aftermarket flattracker sportsters than real ones.
The company needs a full rebuild and i agree with you about the vrod in part the engineering was great.

    • @poppasunny
      @poppasunny 5 лет назад

@@jediknight1294 I mean it all stems with their customer base and image. So I agree with what you said I'm just saying they are what they are. The attitude associated from their dealers is what you see in their customer base. You want a Harley because it's a Harley is like wanting to be Marine you join to be a Marine. That bad boy, masculine, cool style is what mad Harley. Looking at all manufacturers in all honesty opinion I don't see anything "exciting" I'm not a fan of "brands" I respect styling, performance and the bike itself. Harley tried something new with the Vrod when it was released and it sold horribly because of its customer base. They are trying to expand their image and reach new demographics. A few issues stem from pasted customer experience like you noted, performance of their bikes and new customers. People bash their bikes because of past experience so they struggle to get new customers, include in the fact that their bikes have never been based on raw "performance" it makes it hard to bait new consumers. It's like buying a retro porsche and getting pissed because it can't outrun a turbo BMW. 🤷‍♂️ keep the bad boy image, focus mid level bikes in terms of price as to not devalue the brand and interact with first time buyers while acknowledging past mistakes. It gets old hearing people bash bikes that were horribly maintained, used outside of their intended purpose or never riden a bike. Ford was at one time known for shabby work but look at them today.... they were at one point the most valuable car manufacturer in the world followed by BMW.
