Congrats Mike. All that sand on the fish will damage its slime coat which can cause infection and kill it. Best to keep them wet and off the sand if possible. Catch 'em up!
This is some cool fishing bro and you got it down but, I don't understand one thing. The fish is going to die or just about to anyway, and someone is worried the sand will infect the fish and kill it? With all due respect, am I missing something?
@@CarlosDasilva-z5k yeah I don’t get people. I don’t claim to be an expert on releasing surf striped bass. They are always going to get sand on them no matter what. It’s how you handle them respectfully, How quick you are, and always narrowing that window. In my eyes one of the most resilient species and yet considered invasive in some parts of the country. Here in Northern California we get them in all waterways our lakes, rivers, aqueduct, creeks, bays and certainly ocean. Over the last decade I have released all of my bigger class fish that’s just my view. Cheers…
@@mikestacklebox Thanks for the reply Fellow fishing bro. I am with you, just keep on swimming, right? Hope you'll catch many more. I just got me a Bris SIB 15.4 ft long for fishing. coming out soon. Keep an eye out for the man o'war on the tube bro. Have fun!!!

@@mikestacklebox Perhaps I'm going too heavy. I've got a generic 10 ft Surf rod (heavy and not a lot of flex), PENN Battle Reel, 50 lb Braid, and 10 ft 40 lb Flouro leader. As I said, I'm having trouble throwing a 1-2 oz lure very far, so usually add some weight.
@@josephmarciano4761 yeah definitely into something lighter set up you don’t fatigued as well. A rod rating in the 1oz range with a 3k sized reel. 20lb braid. Okuma makes decent entry level rods in forms of a “Salmon” rod.
So i go fishing once a year in rhode island l, and mas. But mostly im a freshwater fisherman in lakes in south carolina. Should i buy this anyways to use at my lake?
We’ll depending on your species possibly for rock fish aka your stripers via the surf. Our buddy the @linecook targets fluke in jersey.l as well. However there are other patterns besides the silver sardine and option’s as well.
That look like a new battlestar not like the old one, the old one has silver color to the body, this one has more blue on its body(kinda like the lucky craft version).
On this particular day was 10 ft Phenix Trifecta lite. 1/4oz.-3/4oz. Van Staal vr50 20lb power super slick 8v2. 30lb. Mono leader. 75lb Tactical anglers clip. That was also on the battlestar 115 silver sardine.
Ohhhhhhh this video is 🔥 bro you really got on em!!! 😊
Yessss we did team Battlestar all the way.
Mike that was awesome brotha!! Killin it on the surf with the Battlestar! You had the beach all to yourself. Just you and the surf. 👌

Sounds good Ryan best of luck. Pardon the late response. Studio is having issues.
How are you able to throw such a light lure so far? I need to add lead to get it up to 2+ oz to get that distance.
It’s all in my setup 1/4-3/4oz lure rating 10’0 length. 3k reel along with 20lb power bro super slick 8. Tell me about your set up?

Kool video Mike. Would you use that same technique and color choice at night, if not what would you do different?
I would definitely work it much slower. Battlestar and my self have discussions on a possible “Blurple”
whats the promo code bro

What rods your using
10’ Phenix Trifecta lite. Van staal vr50
Thanks Mike
You go straight braid to your battlestar
I usually use 30 pound mono top shot 2’ft connected by an Alberto knot. And a 50 pound tactical anglers clip.
22" for dinner? Round here they call them rats.
