  • I travel to Chengdu, in the spicy Sichuan Province, for the first time this week to see if I can discover the real shocking truth that the rest of the world does not want you to see. Enjoy this rare behind the wall look into China as I unveil what China is really like.
btw, still working on a bunch of stuff, top 10 top 5 etc based on all my old travels and experiences. Just hard to find the time to compile and record. But it's coming.

Trust me, you’re not that important to the authorities. If you’re not intending to commit a crime you have nothing to worry about. China is one of the safest country in the world and it’s citizens are happy that those cameras exist.

Residents will even complain that the camera is not enough or the maintenance is not timely, because the installation costs a lot of money, the only purpose of their installation is safety, as for monitoring the people, no one has the patience to watch the CCTV every day, the police work has been tired to death, who pay attention to you?! Some people in the West have been persecuted paranoia, always think they are very important, in fact, really no one pays attention to you.......

Fun Fact: London is the city with most cameras in the entire world. But nobody complained about that ;) BBC: The Chinese government is monitoring pedestrians and the Chinese people have no freedom.;) If you search GOOGLE, it’s not China that has the most surveillance cameras in the world, but Singapore and London.in Singapore they have tons and tons of security cameras as deterence for people to commiy crime because you cant get away with it. these cameras are there to keep you safe in the day and even at night, something most westerners do not have the luxury of...feeling safe on the streets.THe cameras are not there to monitor every single person, they are there to record everything in case there's an incident, then it can be reviewed. With the amount of people moving around it would be impossible to monitor individuals.CCTVs everywhere is a must for a secure and accountable society, Only criminals fear surveillance cameras.

I have visited China 4 times (mid 90s, 2002, 2006 and 2018) and God willing, if everything goes accordingly I would be in China again next month (keeping fingers crossed). I remembered street crimes were really bad in the 90s, pickpockets, scams on tourists, etc.... not to mention big scale corruptions in government officials in district /state levels from wealthy businessmen too. After 2000, things began to change with CCTVs managing petty street crimes and huge cleaned up in corruptions causing many multi millionaires fleeing China from corruption implications and many government officials were indicted - punishments were heavy and serious, today, China is one of the safest country (if not the safest). To me, I hope my country has as many cameras everywhere which deter crimes, like many said, if you did not have evil intentions, the cameras are there to keep you safe and criminals hate cameras because they make their work much harder. If you stay in China long enough, you'll know why China is hated by many of its western counterpart because China made them look really bad, even the US recently warned their own citizens not to visit Xinjiang because they cannot afford to let their own Americans to see the truth - there's no genocide and no human right violations. Anyway enjoy your China explorations, just make sure you have Google Translate Chinese language downloaded for offline use as very high percentage of Chinese people do not speak English.

Eric, you have such an Anglo Saxon view of China. When I enter the US, the immigration will take a photo of my face and also take a full finger and thumb prints (both hands). The US refers to all foreigners as Aliens. Also, if you go around US cities, you will probably see as many if not more CCTVs in the US. The difference is that US still experience a ton of crime daily but you don't see or hear that happening in China. Lastly, don't expect everyone to speak or understand English. You are in China and not many people in China speak English; try to use a translator to get around better. One last point about this video; the Chinese don't treat White people like God but they treat everyone equally, respectful and friendly to all colours.

Aftually Chinese were the first people to wear pants when European males were still wearing dresses and togas.
Pants were originally invented in China for horse riding, then the common people also started to wear pants too. Pants were evolved from the split skirt for horse riding, the skirt had slit in the front and back, so the rider can sit on the horse, later the skirt became pants by sewing up both sides as tubes.
Deniem jeans were originally created by some Chinese in California during the gold rush era. Many Chinese who had went to USA to pan gold but were unsuccessful so some started laundry sevices to the others there, then some Chinese turned used canvas sails into pants which became were very popular with the gold panners because of the pants' toughness.

If you still in Chengdu, you can take a High Speed Rail (HSR)to Zhenjiangguan Railway Station (镇江关)and take a bus to Jiuzhaigou (九寨沟)and Huanglong Scenic Area(黄龙景区)。Also take the HSR to Emei Mountain (峨嵋山)and Leshan Giant Buddha (乐山大佛). Simply don’t waste the opportunity. You can take an HSR to Chongqing, a mega City. I put the Chinese words to help you just in case you need help from the tourist bureau.

Starbuck Reserve isn't fake. Starbucks Reserve stores offer a variety of small-batch, rare, and exotic coffees that are not available at regular Starbucks stores. You can also found this type of store at NYC and at their head office city Seattle. I also like to point out that those reckless eBike drivers were mostly not construction workers but were deliver service guys. btw, 99% of Chinese do not speak or understand English, I found that using a translation App or even a machine would be quite convenient and helpful.

99% not understand English? I grew up in China in the 1970s and we all had to learn English in elementary school. When I came to the US, I took French for foreign language instead of Spanish or Italian so that I wouldn't be at a further disadvantage among the Spanish and Italian Americans since I was already behind in English. Inspite of those years of learning in school decades ago, I have forgotten most of the French I learned. So I would not attempt to speak in French if a French person tries to speak to me in French. The same goes for the 99% of Chinese, I guess.

You think there are homeless people in every country like the US! The man carrying a stick & bag on his shoulder is a worker or courier. You also think its the local people's duty to speak your language. When you do not understand what the other person is saying, pls don't fill in what you thoufht they were saying. If you intend to be a serious vlogger, pls do some homework before you visit the country. The Construction Bank has nothing to do with the construction work nearby. And, if you have no intention to commit any crime, why would you be so worried about the cameras? Only people with bad intention would worry about it.

if you're a law-abiding and friendly tourist, why would the authorities waste valuable resources in 'tracking' you instead of using them elsewhere? trust me, you have no value to them at all and they certainly have no interest in you if you're just an ordinary traveler. Those cameras are for public security just like anywhere else in the world. Security cameras don't automatically become surveillance just because they're installed on Chinese sreets. And you might be surprised to know that London has way more CCTV cameras than this city you're visiting, Chendu.
