    Great insights! So in other words, it has changed heaps in the last couple of years.
    I first started travelling to China in 1998 until 2017; 4-5 times a year and still find it so amusing and how fast it changes for a country that size... Truly Amazing

    Amazing, that's exactly what i observed too 😂 that changes that happened in the past decade. one more thing is that EV cars in China skyrocketed too.

    When I visited in the early 2000s, people were smoking on buses, trains, hotel lobbies, restaurants, offices, schools, hospitals-literally everywhere. Their cigarettes were way too strong, and there was so much second-hand smoke that I was concerned, even though I was a smoker myself. Last time I visited, most people only lit up at designated smoking areas, and they started selling lighter cigarettes.

      Yep that’s a great one. The entire public space has changed drastically thanks to cigarette laws. Also, since I didn’t want to bring up trains in the video I didn’t mention that not just smoking on trains has changed, but sharing a table on a slow train with 6 other people while piles of sunflower seeds stack up a foot high has changed too. Now everyone sits on the fast train facing forward in their own chair and watching their phones the entire time :(

    Our Chinese people are intelligent, hardworking, kind, and brave. The political elites in the Western world who aspire to make China a banana republic will not realize their dreams. The Middle East, Persia, Iran, and Far East China are both extremely proud and stubborn civilizations. Even if they may be in an unfavorable position for a while, or even conquered by foreign races and religions, their inherent pride prevents them from being transformed into other ethnic groups. On the contrary, as long as they seize the opportunity, they will decisively establish their own national flag again and throw themselves into the long river of history with their unique posture. Jack Sullivan, the National Security Assistant to the President of the United States, personally stated that spending too much money over decades to turn China into a banana republic has completely failed.

    They are a developing nation and civilization. They tend to adopt what is good western or eastern culture and tend to adapt that well and quick. I think its a good thing.

    This is a wonderful list of less noticeable changes compared to hi-speed trains and cashless payments in China. Smaller changes are just as significant. You made a valuable contribution to anthropology. Perhaps you can come up with other changes that missed this cut.

    The impression of the urban management group is very bad. The vendors who set up stalls on the street hate the urban management the most. There are many videos of a group of urban management beating a small vendor. Some vendors will resist, but some will not. Whenever such an incident occurs, the public unanimously denounces the urban management. Although the urban management who beats people will be fired without exception, the city management is synonymous with brutal law enforcement and has become a brand. This situation has eased in recent years, and road occupation management and urban management are always at odds with each other.

    Is the gruesome stuff seen less because it’s actually safer or because of censorship or some combination of the two? I remember seeing those videos and it always broke my heart, so I hope it’s actually safer.

    • @Eric_Garrison
      @Eric_Garrison  4 месяца назад +1

      I’m not too sure. Probably combination of things. I have noticed more in recent years if something is potentially unsafe they’ll put up a sign or a little cone thing instead of just , for example, having an open manhole cover for anyone to fall into lol

    The content is interesting but I had to force myself to watch to the end as the narration is simply too fast. Either sounds like a speed train or you are trying to compress too much chatter in a short time frame. The video would be more enjoyable with slower narrative and clearer enunciation.
