Oh my goodness! Look at that beautiful new cement mixer!
All this wonderful kit that has appeared. Do you think he won the Lottery?!
Wish he’d be a bit kinder to them 😂
It's a sponsorship. He has said so.@@mrsc120
Hello, do you know how Dan provides the energy in terms of the machinery? Is it only the 2 solar panels that provide the electricity? Cheers.
Soon be ruined as he dos'nt look after his tools!!!!
For someone who started with one spade and one wheelbarrow you’ve come a long way Dan. And yes, I’m addicted too
Dying to see that park come alive now in spring
A new big Blue mixer ❤😂 that's all the motivation you needed Dan. Will be nice to see the wall up and that roof enclosed. It worries me that if a storm came through the open end, it could potentially lift the new roof off. Roll on dry sunny day and no storms. Xxx keeping everything crossed for you Dan. X
Me too
It's a shame that the climate is not like in the South of France, he could have planted a Mèze bougainvillea, a variety created in France ,flowers are light rose.
The big blue Honda mixer finally in use is it the same one you brought on site in the autumn while you were using the small one? At least with lime you can use bigger batches as going off time is longer for your limited workforce,so much erosion to make structurally safe.
Lol! A bigger cement mixer does not mean you can lift bigger buckets of cement. Take it easy... don't hurt yourself. ❤
Haha. As if he’ll listen. 😜😅
He has got bigger biceps…. dident you notice?
When I go out rock hounding, I find 2 buckets distributes the weight better and easier to carry.
Get a yoke. That way you can carry two buckets. But not one big bucket. Make them equal weight. I'm thinking of your muscles. You do not.
Want to Harnia!! Much love from Oklahoma.
It’s hernia time🎉🎉🎉🎉 oww
Can’t believe how much I’ve missed the wall rebuilding process.
You can go back in the videos and catch up if you'd like to.
You are doing completely the right job rebuilding and stabilising the walls in that area.
Complete your gable to the new attic and get ready for roofing the central high level corridor.
Totally the right progress. You have learned from diverting time to landscaping and are pushing the roof on the chateau.
Get it dry and see progress rocket.
Check out the warranty on previous which. It should not let you down like that. A one or two man build is light usage. It should last three years at least.
@@Chereese0808we're probably all caught up. I also enjoy the stone work rebuild. The pointing is so relaxing to watch.
Me too ..... was just thinking that while mesmerised watching Dan work on that wall ❤
The upside of the painfully slow winch is that it gives you time to recover after carrying the bucket from the cement mixer.
Amen. 😇
Exactly what I was thinking. You are not a metal machine! Pace yourself and give your body a chance to recharge a bit. We know how eager you are to plough into the rebuild BUT you shouldn’t drive yourself ruthlessly.
Relax a bit. Do a little more research or filming. Talk to us more. Those are aspects that draw your audience as much as the the actual progress on restoring the Chateau… fascinating as it is. Congratulations on all that you’ve accomplished. Don’t push yourself too hard. We want to see you succeed in reaching your goals and dreams. And for goodness sake, BE SAFE!
Why is the sight of a new navy blue cement mixer giving me so much joy? What's happening to me?!!🤩🤣
Hello, do you know how Dan provides the energy in terms of the machinery? Is it only the 2 solar panels that provide the electricity? Cheers.
Good to see that I am not the only one who felt happiness over seeing the new mixer. 🙂
@@DirkRevisited
Mostly gas powered or lithium batteries.
He might use solar generators for small projects.
He likely has a regular generator as well.
Cobalt blue with light blue shovel, Nice -you sure know how to to make an entrance 🩷
That made me laugh! So true!
I used to be excited watching a RUclipsr getting a new handbag…. What’s happened to me??? Now I’m thrilled by a new cement mixer 😮 Dan, you’ve turned my world upside down 🤣 Love your channel ❤
Ha ha ha, there’s a lot of people that are asking that question! I’m hooked on his can do attitude.
You have expanded you appreciation to the art of building.
The blue mixer… right?😊❤
Imagine the word HERMES on this cement mixer… 😂😂😂
I have never notice that small window before. Glad to see the weather break so you can continue with the walls
I think that's one of those translucent colored pyramids
This type of Danbuild is my favourite part of the build. Watching him put the strength back into the old chateau.
Same. And I'd be happy to watch it at normal speed too. People who don't like that can just whizz past it if they like.
My favorite too
Yes ! Since a year i can't wait to see Dan doing the same in the first and second floors ! This big lady house needs very strong feets !
I actually love just watching these walls get pointed. The aesthetic difference in the before and after is pretty dramatic. The section that was done in the basement was a real eye opener.
just a suggestion from a seasoned builder ( 40 years in the trade ) the first thing I would have don is build an exterior hoist to bring up all the materials you are caring up the believe me you will feel this in your body at some point otherwise love what your doing.
as a builder 40 yrs in the trade, tell me is this how you fix that kind of brick wall? I mean you can basically break it with hands and plastering some mortar over it hardly seems to improve anything. Will it not crumble later on ?
They Build differently in Europe than we do in the states …. HE IS CONSULTING WITH PROFESSIONALS ……. RESTORATION PROJECT
I keep thinking along those lines too…but wasn’t quite sure how he would have something strong and sturdy yet close enough to grab and far enough out from the wall to prevent accidents. Thank you for saying it exists. Cherry pickers being too expensive.
He should have got an electric mixer and put it just below the hoist inside on plywood and just dolly the mortar to the hoist, he could lift all the sand and cement on the digger up by the side of the steps and dolly them in!?!
I must confess, I am addicted... to you and your vlogs. Lets go Dan!
Hello, do you know how Dan provides the energy in terms of the machinery? Is it only the 2 solar panels that provide the electricity? Cheers.
@@DirkRevisited I was just wondering the same thing!
You ought to bronze old faithful and turn it into a fountain :)
Dan…. The condition of the wall supporting one of the main horizontal beams is shown at 4:00 in the vlog. The wood beam is sitting on a singular sloped stone and that sloped stone is sitting on a pile of rubble weathered over 40 years. Since this masonry wall will be holding a primary structural member, consider temporarily supporting the beam with a wood column and then rebuilding that portion of the wall to the right of the granite opening. This way you will assure that the roof beam has proper support and not just cosmetic repairs. Kudos on resuming this mind numbing, yet strenuous task….not as sexy as the roof…but equally important.
In another posting we got to see the stonework on the turret. Yikes! That looks very precarious. Seemed there’s not a rock connected to another - they’re just sitting there.
so wish you all would wear a mask when opening up bags of cement etc you are breathing in your deaths and we want you around for your family xxx
Plz ask Dan why can I not leave a message I am a patreon ty ty
Cement dust is very bad for the lungs Dan !!
My sentiment exactly, your lungs are your friends
That's lime, not cement. Still bad when inhaled, but at least you will feel it right away...
yeah I thought this too... get the whole thing done... move in... get diagnosed...expire.
Just don't know how you find this energy between working on a ruin and shooting and editing your youtube videos. I'm exhausted from just watching😂 it really must be a labour of love indeed.
How can something that is tedious, hard work for one person, fill another person with both excitement and calm. I love that you are again at the stage of rebuilding the walls. When you are again at the stage of placing more floors I will feel the same. This entire process is thrilling to watch. Thank you Dan.
Can hardly wait to see noggins 😊
So great to see you back on stonework. I don't know why, but I find watching you repoint and rebuild stone walls very relaxing.
Wow....a new cement mixer!! Nice to see more branches and roots coming off of the building Dan. Great to see the stone walls being rebuild now too!! I know that there is so much stone work to do, but taking your time and doing it right is the way to go.....well done Dan, you are doing an amazing job!!
Ooo! A fancy new cement mixer! 😂 Well, you've earned it!🎉
INCLUSIVE UMA COR LEGAL, AZUL BLUE....FURTADO SUL DO BRASIL, VIZINHO MILEI, "EL LCO CHAINSAW"
I miss ol’ faithful…Lil’ red 😂
New cement mixer, New pants & working on a new area of the chateau. Way to go Dan! 🇫🇷🏰⚜️❤️
Good to see you back Dan. I look forward to hearing more about your interview in Paris.
Look at that shiny blue cement mixer!!! Bet it will get a workout..
Hello, do you know how Dan provides the energy in terms of the machinery? Is it only the 2 solar panels that provide the electricity? Cheers.
@PimpYourTrash, during the winter he's been using a small generator in addition to the solar panels, because of the lack of sunlight.
To power the new tools however, neither of those would work as the current draw during startup would be quite high, and they would drain the batteries very quickly. I can see two scenarios going forward: getting reconnected to the power grid, or getting a serious battery bank dimentioned for the new load (if he wanted to contiue to stay off grid). However, I would hazard that option two will cost quite a lot more money that just getting grid power :)
I would highly advise putting a Winch on the outside so it’s easier to bring up lumber and and mortar, bricks etc. possibly from the central turret . So you are not lugging them all in on ladders first.
Edit: that way you can just back up your truck and unload from there.
New tractor? New cement mixer? Matching t-shirt? Awesomeness.
The dogs are carrying this series for me, so fun to see them grow up!! 😂
Have you seen both dogs in recent videos? I’ve only spotted one and was hoping the other pup is ok.
@@Txcreative exactly what I was thinking. I hope it's okay
They're so playful.
I adore the girls 🐕🐕 too.
@@Txcreative
The playful one.
Oh, I just wrote the same thing!! Does anyone know?@@Txcreative
Yurt on site is making sense after seeing all the late night shots. Plus you keep thief’s away by being onsite. Impressed by the effort and quality of work
Yeah putting a ton of expensive machinery into a room with no doors really turned the whole living on site into a requirement if it wasn't before.
Your " LABOR of LOVE" , lured all of us to be
" virtual participants" , if only... keep it going 😊.
Take care Dan. ❤
Pretty new cement mixer Daniel. Glad to see you tonight. Rest well lad K🇬🇧❤️❤️
A shinny new hoist to go with the shiny new cement mixer would complete the next chapter. Mount it over the front wall so you won’t have to carry things into the château to lift them. ❤
That old mixer has seen you through a lot of building from the old bread building to now the chateau. I watch other channels and they show laying brick by brick so don’t worry about boring us with it. Every brick is closer to you being a proper chateauian (??) whatever that instruction book was that Stephanie gave you when she left you with her chateau.
Chatelain (male) chatelaine - female 🙂
its chatelain in french.....
Dan my secret love. I’m happy to see all the new machinery. The new cement mixer is great even though it is temporary. Good job on rebuilding the wall. Until tomorrow. Love please, take care and stay safe. Love ya 🍺🕊🙏❤️🌞🌈😇👍🌹🇺🇸
And we are on our way again. Glad to see you ready for next steps.
Updates make my day
Gather 'round, all ye Dan-ites... to say a few words over the humble little cement mixer sitting sadly by the chateau.
Grateful for your service, you gave your all, little Buddy. 🥲 RIP 💔
The tub of the old mixer would make a lovely planter in some equally noble, out of the way spot in the woods. The boys could paint it and plant it full of something fun like berries.
Poor little guy.. they'll have to call in Time Team to find him under the dried concrete😆 welded to the spot, too. But you're right, maybe we haven't seen the last of him. @@SueLegg-lh6fj
I’ve rewatched for the umpteenth time as you get the cladding and membrane on during that awful weather. Brave men you and Nick. Mustn’t forget Cameron. Your dedicated team workers are sooo appreciated by us all.
Shiny new cement mixer you got there Dan
It’s nice to see that Dan is making enough money to get the equipment he needs to do the job right 👍
What a beautiful mixer!!!!!
Good to see you back after a couple days.
I thought you, the concrete mixer, and the winch were never going to wear out. They wore out before you did! Outstanding!
Please be careful taking the pail off the winch when you get it to the top! All it takes is a little miscalculation and the weight of the pail and contents will get you off balance.
One thing Dan, always always put some water in before you mix
Linda you are a kind person sharing your knowledge❤
Thank you Linda.
Cheers.
Johan from SA.
@@joecruiserHello fellow SA, Tx.
I put water in first but others don't, you can do it both ways
Seeing the top of the chateau fully closed off is such a weird sensation. For over a year now, every shot had an open window, or broken down walls, or no roof. I think its going to be so amazing to see this place fully restored. But more importantly, having this channel as a reference to where it came from. this will likely be the most detail documented restoration of a building like this on the internet. Love the progress!
Just as I saw the start of the video, yellow mixer, thought, pity he doesn’t have a bigger one … tractor sound and aaaaaaaaah oooooooh yessss
You have a new cement mixer. Not surprised the other one bit the dust. You are the man who glued a Chateau together
About time too, it’s tantamount to dereliction of duty 😂.
Seriously though, glad to have you back, take it steady and safely please Dan.
I admit it Dan, I'm happy to see you rebuilding walls with brick/stone/rock once again. There's just something so satisfying about the process. Knowing that one's own deliberate labor (and some mortar!) will build a wall back to structural permanence, or at least for a few centuries to come, there is just nothing quite like it.
I was looking away and was not ready for the sound of that first concrete pour 🤣
Some of the stones look so precarious! I would not know where to start. Go Dan! You have got this!
It's just like eating an elephant ...
You take one bite at a time.
Take good care of this new cement mixer!
Hello, do you know how Dan provides the energy in terms of the machinery? Is it only the 2 solar panels that provide the electricity? Cheers.
He also has a diesel generator
Yay Dan . Missed my daily fix x
Hello, do you know how Dan provides the energy in terms of the machinery? Is it only the 2 solar panels that provide the electricity? Cheers.
It was so warm, I put on my summer gardening clothes and pulled some weeds to get ready to plant!
Dan, what about doing a Q&A? I'm sure lots of people have questions they would like to ask about the renovation :)
No time!
Hello, do you know how Dan provides the energy in terms of the machinery? Is it only the 2 solar panels that provide the electricity? Cheers.
He probably answers some on his patreon members sight.
Not sure though, but most you tubers use it
He's got a diesel generator, you can hear it in some of the videos and he's mentioned it in the past that he uses that when there's not enough sun
@@DirkRevisitedYes, 2 panels (400W each, I think?) and a suitcase sized battery with a builtin inverter. Dan must be at about 45 degrees latitude so will have decent amount of light all year round so plenty power going in and most electrical machinery is only running for seconds or minutes at a time and the lighting is all LED.
Please, auction the old cement mixer off! You will be able to buy 10 new ones for what your crazy fans will be willing to pay for it. 😂
Never thought I would be the type to get excitement about a new cement mixer, but here we are…
Im so glad somebody has the resources to save this building!
Hi, I'm new here. Found this channel after learning Pethericks stole from churches.
Does Dan talk about how he's making sure the walls are structurally strong enough?
🙄 Go touch grass
@@katrinhalookca Aww, bless your heart.
Are you one of the Pethericks' cult members?@@katrinhalookca
Great to see you're still spreading the word about the Pethericks!
As for the walls, Dan is doing some repairs here and there, but I imagine only time will tell if the walls are still strong enough!
This might be the wrong thing to focus on but I have been watching Dan's channel since the beginning g and did you used to have two dogs? Just wondering because I don't think we have seen two in a long time. Is everything ok?
I can't remember which videos, but there have been a couple of videos in the last couple of weeks where you can see both dogs.
Even when both dogs appear in a vlog, people still ask why there's only one dog 😆
Dan I don't think you can call it a ruin anymore, it's a work in progress.😁
I think you have been missed! 🤩
It really does seem like a very long time since i watched you repointing. You have a heart like a lion Dan. Great to watch your progress😊
Woo Hoo! Look at the beautiful new mixer! Plus a new hoist. Yes!
Just a thought. If you set up a wood ramp on the stone banister, you could set a guided wheeled cart and pull the those heavy buckets up and save your back.
My back hurts watching you haul that bucket, ouch.
Always exciting to see more roots and trees come down off the wall! Soon there won’t be anymore! What a day that will be!!!
New materials, new horizons! Strength! Regards, Stephen.
Wow new mixer and a new winch…. Progress starting again 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
It really is satisfying to see the walls before and then after you have pointed them and brushed them clean...almost therapeutic as a viewer!!!
oh my.. Dan you are getting spoiled with a new and shiny Cement Mixer....!
So good to see a beautiful shiny cement mixer again. ❤
You work so hard mate, it’s absolutely amazing- great work
Now that you have a cement mixer all you need is a Tele handler to lift it up to where you need it
We are all excited to see your new mixer. I too am glad you are back at work.stay safe.
I love this kind of meticulous work. Just filling in the joints in a relaxed manner.😊❤
hope the steady stretch of work continues…but based on past events…something exciting will surely come up!❤

My wife (who used to just roll her eyes when she when I played this VLOG) has caught interest in the progress, and now asks "has that renovations guy posted yet?" Mind you, she still says "No" when I comments about the idea of starting a new project... I'm apparently supposed to finish the restoration of our house first... she's probably right, dang it.

Thank you for the video!
Always so great to see that a new video has landed!
Outstanding pointing work as usual. Great to see you back building.
Watching this makes me want to ask Dan what part of this rebuild he enjoys the most. He takes great care with the stonework, so I’m wondering if that’s the part he enjoys the most. So great to see the new phase of the build ramping up!
The roof building was extremely demanding, so it’s good to have a change of activity. Waiting to enjoy the new reconstructive phase.
I’d complain about that winch Dan , you’d hardly used it !!!
😂😂😅
Given it would carry a lot more weight than it did, and it lasted months, not years, that's a good shout.
that portable winch has been the greatest invention for the diy builders
you continue to amaze me. you have learned so much and come so far since i first started watching you at the very beginning of your channel. you're probably getting bored with hearing how wonderful you are, just please stay as humble as you are, 🎖
i just love watching you videos. makes me wanna do those things Myself
It is a labour of love, Dan which is why we love it so much! More power to you ❤
Dan you should try and secure that roofing liner down better on that edge the wind is going to eventually rip it off, maybe some temporary battens.
It’s great seeing you with all the new equipment etc …. You’ve worked hard for it!
A new concrete mixer!! So shiny. Don't worry, it'll look like the old one in a couple of weeks with Dan cleaning it out the next day with a mallet. Oh, Dan.
Dan,
It’s truly coming along.
I’ve been sitting back and watching.

I love the humour you bring in your videos 😊
It maybe time consuming, but repointing is the foundation to great homes. This will be amazing home again . Thank you for sharing
I can't wait for the spring blossoms as well...and I know what you mean on a labor of love, I'm painting my house all by myself, my daughter thinks I'm crazy, but I love doing it and I love this lil' 80 yo bungalow...wish I had your youth and stamina...but not bad for a 75 year old gal...cheers...!!!
