Yes much better. Not only is Nick very knowledgeable, but it's another pair of hands and also a safety back up. With Dan's blasé attitude to safety (and I don't think that will change), it only takes a slip or fall with no helmet and cracking your head open, bleeding and unconscious to die within a very small time. If Nick is there he can stem the bleed and call emergency services to get help within 20 mins. That increases the survival rate from 10% to 90%. And Dan can do the same for Nick. Nobody is immune from a slip, trip, or fall. The buddy system is important. I know some people don't realise the danger of construction sites but this is fact

Yes he’s come a long way from the beginning with a wheelbarrow, shove, bucket and saw.!!! Shoveling dirt out up a plank of wood; and now look at Nick using his machine for the same thing!!!😮😊
In fact that's the special wood used for it that was bred over millenia that had in the end the word in it. We mere humans learnt it from the wood itself.

HOW does one man rebuild a chateau, film and edit, take care of children and puppies, go on TV, meet other chateau owners, and give great parties ( he is not showing you here on his channel the BBQ and dinners he is attending and hosting on other channels like chateau diaries).
Dan, I must admit, the anticipation of now waiting for your videos to come out is well worth it, (checking every day with excitement) to see the progress you are making which is so fast now. You have a new lease of life. Love it! The new tools are doing you proud.

The way you two move those huge iron beams is so clever. I'm happy for you to see that you have overcome such challenges and are moving forward at such a speedy pace with this magnificent project. Stay safe !! and all the best to you !!
Hi Dan, Nick is so smart comes up with ingenious ways to get those metal beams up the stairs. He is worth his weight in gold. A treasure to help you get this chateau renovated. Noggins a nod to noggins.
When the drone looked down into the chateaux cavity and I could see the wooden floor beams I got so excited for more flooring and noggin. Happy dance as we are facing 20 centimeters of snow tomorrow. Happy Canadian spring.
Watching a far more experienced you at work today, I was reminded of a Louise Nevelson quote. (She was a famous American artist who often worked with wood ) When asked how she kept up her energy to work after age 80; " Look, Dear, if you can walk, you can dance." You are living that philosophy, day after day, having learned to walk, I watched you tap-dancing today!

Watching Dan set those beams in mortar I remember a trick we used to use when leveling heavy equipment. The mortar shrinks a bit as it dries so we'd add a bit of iron powder into the mix, there was a recipe but I don't remember it. As the mortar set the iron would oxidize and the iron oxide took up more volume than the iron powder. So the end result was the mortar didn't shrink and the equipment stayed level.
Tonight I watched in awe as two blokes cut wood, hoist up beams, a bit of cement mixing... and then I knew! I knew he was cutting the noggins! 😅what has Dan's yt done to us!?😅
Just a couple of points. If you are milling un kiln dried lumber for your joists, it will dry as it ages in a heated building. The steel I beams will not shrink. As your joists shrink the beams will protrude and cause a hump in your finished floors. Lift the joist at least a 1/2 inch above the beam and lay your OSB to bridge the metal. I am enjoying your project keep up the great work.

So good to see that Springtime has come to France, and that you are so carefully, and persistently pursuing your dream. The work is beautiful -- it is so interesting to watch -- makes me want to do it myself, but my 88 years sort of preclude that effort. Anyway, thank you so many times over for sending this into our homes that we may enjoy your efforts and the results of them. The garden is looking great - and the first flowers are beautiful!!
WOW DAN!! Y’all are flying through this now! 💪🏼😃👍🏼 Impressive! Those new tools sure are handy too! So excited to see every new video, and the more noggins the merrier!’ 🎉😘💋💋💋
There's Nick. Threading an I beam through a camel. I reckon he could thread an I beam through a needle with his eyes closed. Phenomenonal skills with heavy machinery that man.
Hello Dan, great work you're doing! I have a tip for you. If you use a router when preparing the wooden beams, you can work even more efficiently. To do this you will need a router, preferably a small one or preferably a one-handed router, which I think I have already seen in one or your videos. So, you need a round milling cutter with a guide ring that approximately corresponds to the curve of the I-beams. It is now important not to position the milling machine from above, but rather in front of the head. The process would then be: First, as usual, mill the depth with the Mafell milling machine, then mill the curve with the one-hand milling machine and then the other sides, as a replacement for mortising with the chisel. That's how I would do it. I am a carpenter and was self-employed for over 35 years until my sudden illness 4 years ago, also like you, mostly alone with the occasional helper. I look forward to every new video and wish you continued strength, joy and fun with the project. With this in mind, good luck and good health, best regards Matthias
Things are definitely moving faster with all your new gear. Loving the “Noggins”. Great way you two guys have of getting the I beams inside. This room is going to be huge. Good days work. Anna

🎵 Builder Man, Builder Man, Restores the French chateau like a Builder Man caaaaannnn 🎶 The noggin nailing but really brought that to mind. Like everyone else, your videos are the highlight of my days.
My English Grandfather always used the term Noggins when he referred to my brother and myself when we were acting up, he always said he would Knock us in our noggins.
Completely understood the sentiment and echoed in my childhood. (Currently 71). My noggin is a little more fuzzy nowadays. I await ever episode with eagerness Dan. Don’t work too hard, but love to see any post.
Crazy how you worked in the word "noggin" in while making them. Yes, after 8 months, this 71-year-old from the States now knows what they are. Nick and you make a great team together. There should be a better way of getting material up to where it's needed but if there was, I'm sure you would have found it. It looks like you have learned so much and gained a lot of experience doing this.
I’m excited over all the noggins! As they go in it marks that a new piece of floor is ready. You are in a flow now, and the weather is just going better every week. 👍🏼
What a difference a second pair of hands makes in the progress. So nice to see Nick helping out. I noticed 475k subscribers. I love that Stephanie toasted you with champagne when the Chateaulians got together at LaLonde for treasure swapping weekend.

It’s like the industrial revolution when Nick & you get together. Setting lofty goals that you accomplished. Hope your cold gets better
WOW DAN!! Y’all are flying through this now!
💪🏼😃👍🏼 Impressive!
Those new tools sure are handy too! So excited to see every new video, and the more noggins the merrier!’ 🎉😘💋💋💋

Thank you, Dan. I am nogginxited, per your orders. You and Nick seem to work together like magic. The new work shop is amazing. ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉😊
Cute
Now there's a word we need to use regularly.
Hope folks realize how heavy those bags of concrete are. Well done Dan 💪💜! Thats a lot of concrete .
... it’s lime not concrete.
@@consideredwhisper thank you for correcting my mistake, my point was its heavy.
The process would then be:
First, as usual, mill the depth with the Mafell milling machine, then mill the curve with the one-hand milling machine and then the other sides, as a replacement for mortising with the chisel.
That's how I would do it.
I am a carpenter and was self-employed for over 35 years until my sudden illness 4 years ago, also like you, mostly alone with the occasional helper.
I look forward to every new video and wish you continued strength, joy and fun with the project.
With this in mind, good luck and good health, best regards
Matthias
Beats watching the telly! Love these videos.
Fully concur!
I haven't watched TV for years.
So many wonderful tools you didn't have the last time you did this. Going amazingly fast!
it's amazing how quickly these floors are going in compared to the first ones, ingenuity at its finest!
Things are definitely moving faster with all your new gear. Loving the “Noggins”.
Great way you two guys have of getting the I beams inside. This room is going to be huge. Good days work. Anna
DANS SO EXCITED, HE JUST CAN'T HIDE IT...HE KNOWS, HE KNOWS, HE KNOWS HES ABOUT TO LOOSE CONTROL......GIDDY EXCITEMENT. ( The Pointer Sisters song).
I don't need to learn to get excited. I already am ! The speed of this floor is amazing. Having Nick helping you makes a heck of a difference. We'll done both of you
With all your new tools the process of building your chateau has sped up 100% so excited for you. Glad Nick is there to help you he is a jack of all trades and master of all!!! It almost seemed you had the floor built and noggins in one day, amazing!!!!
New tools and lessons learned from the other floors has made this go in soooooo quickly. Amazing work can't wait to see where you've got up to in a few days!
🎵 Builder Man, Builder Man,
Restores the French chateau like a Builder Man caaaaannnn 🎶
The noggin nailing but really brought that to mind. Like everyone else, your videos are the highlight of my days.
My English Grandfather always used the term Noggins when he referred to my brother and myself when we were acting up, he always said he would Knock us in our noggins.
My grandpa was a little more direct. He would tell me, I was I was heading for a butt kicking. That was when I quit being a pest. He meant it too.😢
Completely understood the sentiment and echoed in my childhood.
Cute how the pooch is so nervous about stepping out onto the new floor at about 11:09.
What a difference a second pair of hands makes in the progress. So nice to see Nick helping out. I noticed 475k subscribers. I love that Stephanie toasted you with champagne when the Chateaulians got together at LaLonde for treasure swapping weekend.
Awesome, the transformation in real time. The learning and continuous improvement of skills is remarkable. Excellent job guys!
I miss the daily update but i like that the videos have more to show now. Keep it going.
Having a good friend, Experience, having all the junk already removed, and some awsome new tools, makes moving ahead move right along possible!
Dan, you are so fortunate to have Nick helping. It's amazing what another pair of hands can do!! Chateau is looking good!!!
Can I just say, props to Dan the videographer, above and beyond Dan the master builder! I subscribe to a lot of RUclips channels and this is one of the best filmed I know. Particularly given the daily cycle which you follow Dan. The others at the same level of quality are fortnightly or more! You are amazing Dan!
Ps, didn’t mean to imply you weren’t Ana amazing builder. You are also an amazing videographer!
Dang those new tools are going to speed up the process significantly! Your inspector was quite concerned with your work! Lol
