    I emailed the FAA about the absence of “no PT” from OLJEK to CIGCA on RNAV 36 KCEC. They admitted the error and put up a new NOTAM as of today, 4/22/19, and said that the next revision will include “no PT.”

    I'm not a pilot and not trying to become one, but man is this stuff ever engaging. Brain slightly melted from all the technical stuff and abbreviations, but I still watched both streams in one go. Already looking forward to the next one.

    Watching this 3 years after it was made, they must have listened! It now says NoPT on the leg from OLJEK to CIGCA for RNAV RWY 36 at KCEC.

    1:00:04 Good way to say where do you need to switch to VLOC. Also, I would say to make sure it's within 18NM for the LOC service volume. In the event the LOC has expanded SSV double check the distance and make sure it comes from the actual Localizer antenna "I-OTH". In this case, the distance is measured from the actual OTH but eyeballing the distance to the LOC antenna is withing 18NM

    I learned IFR old school too. 2xVOR, one of them ILS. No GPS. Then got to use GPS for DME and other info, but still no course track.
    I used VOR radials for xcountry waypoints and such for VFR private pilot too.

    On a garmin 530, will I be able to go back and activate the leg? And amazing!!! you are given step down altitudes, that is so helpful....when I find a good job, I might change my 6 pack out for a g1000. Thanks for the information and refresher, I am getting ready to take my cfii and trying to recall everything for Instrument.

    Thank you very much for this lesson. I'm taking my IR lessons now and am always wondering what I should enter into the G1000 after I pick the approach. You also cleared up some questions I had about IAF and IF and PT and this is coming from not only an IR student but a 30+ year center controller. These video's are a wealth of information.

    Adding to the microphone comment, during the question period, it was hard to hear the question because I assume that person off camera was did not have a mike. Otherwise, great presentation. A lot of information presented, and learned, for this starting IFR pilot!

    Great video. Big thumbs up. Couple of points which i think are just being picky but might clarify for people like me who use info like this in the real world. I think you referred to an IF as an Initial Fix at one point, think you meant intermediate and about half an hour in when you said that the PT was required after flying the full approach from OLJEK, i would have certainly not flown the PT unless that was a verbal instruction. Was this a mistake idk?

    Has anyone noticed that the waypoints of the PURLL arrival are all famous musicians? Kiss, (Bob) Dylan, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, etc.

    Well, well, well! Found you by accident. VFR PILOT/ Instrument Ground instructor Morris here. Absolutely informative. I loved it. One of my instructor's drove an 18 wheeler and I also became an 18 wheeler driver. Back in the old days when pilots were always hungry I packed up, change ship and joined the military. I never got out until retired. As for my qualifications, when I find a struggling pilot that needs my qualifications, I help him out/99% free. However, do not look me up because I'm too busy with my demanding spouse and and over grown kids. I send God's blessings for safety and even a successful flying career to the pilots now starting.

    I think the last Turbojet airliner was the B707, or the B720's to Braniff. Almost all are Turbofans today. That said, does the "Turbojet" restrictions include Turboprops like a Pilatus PC12, De Havilland DHC-8, or Embraer TPNG 70? I think the FAA should change turbojet to "fixed wing turbine powered aircraft"

    If you are cleared to an iaf that has a (holding) procedure turn, and you are additionally cleared for the straight-in, how do you tell the autopilot not to do the procedure turn?

    You are incorrect regarding the approach at North Bend and the ADF, DME requirement. AIM 1-2-3 and FAA AC 90-100 allows a certified GPS installation to substitute for the ADF and DME even if it’s “required “ by the approach. If you have an approved GPS unit and an approved TSO installation, ADF and DME are NOT required for the example approach into North Bend, Oregon.

    What if not bolded? I thought holding not bolded on the plate was only executed if told/authorized...checkout Rusos 2X arrival followed by VOR Y Rwy 29 at LGSA

    Cut out that 6 minute intro you have in the beginning of every video which serves no purpose whatsoever. And get rid of the 10 minute preamble that discusses what the video is about (we already know that from the title). Just get right into it. Cut these videos down to 45 minutes.
