The grey screen has happened twice to me now, and the first time i completely factory reset my pc it was horrible 😭😭 i found this video and followed it this second time around and discord is running like normal again, you are truly a hero in my eyes

Yeah I always come back to it. If the issue still persists after doing all of that, I've found removing the discord folders from my desktop bin will settle it back into place, too.

the thing in the command prompt doesn't work, it says "discord.exe not found" and i can't delete the discord folder in the roaming folder because it says that it is open somewhere. please help
Good explained Video. But I found a much easier solution for my infinite loop update problem (NOT the Rename-"Update"-File one): Simply as it was, I just needed to delete everything in "...appdata/Roaming/discord/CACHE". May this helps someone.
When I close every discord task in task manager it then gets stuck on the "checking for updates" screen. The only way to fix it is to restart my entire computer

for anyone not wanting to uninstall discord, all you need to do is close discord through task manager and then run discord as an administrator. This will cause discord to open and start installing any updates that might not have been able to before, it might take a couple minutes for all of them to install but afterwards it will launch and run as normal :)

this is a nice detailed tutorial but im gonna say something to save you those 10 minutes, just close discord from hidden icons as it ensures its all closed go on google, login discord on the browser, close it , reopen discord and it should work

if you want it to work on computer, this only works for me, and i figured it out go to incognito window and u can use discord there.

If the problem still persists after doing this, try emptying the recycle bin before you install an updated discord. Worked for me.
