- Join us on our Alaska Adventure. We are traveling in a 2003 seventeen-foot Road Trek van from East Tennessee to Denali National Park in Alaska.
I am traveling with my 84-year-old dad in a 20-year-old van. 6 weeks and 10,000 miles of rough roads and rugged country. Make no mistake it is an adventure, not a vacation. A lifetime of memories and experiences.
Week 1, we traveled from Tennessee all the way to Jasper National Park in Canada. We spent 2 days enjoying and exploring Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota.

Ms Becky, As difficult as some days were for you, I know it was hard on your sweet Daddy! The sites were so beautiful looking out across the mountains and streams. Seeing your Daddy standing there looking out across the land reminded me of my Daddy and how he would have loved it to see this with his family! He's seen it before back when he was a truck driver but not with his family! Ya'll please be Safe Sweetheart on this magnificent adventure together! I know ya'll are in God's Hands and He's watching over and protecting you both! I will keep you both in my prayers until you return back home! God is always First in everything I do! The part I always loved most about Alaska was all the mountains & waterfalls. Seeing the bears along the road & people riding bikes. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. I pray you have a safe trip & enjoy all the beauty before you.

I love about 30 mins out of Indianapolis. I live in Lafayette Indiana. Chicago is crazy. Making these memories with your dad is so amazing. And recording then. You can watch them over and over.

Yes such a trip, Anchorage has slow downs when everyone is going to work and all going home and you will be surprised of there buildings too.

Oh my goodness, what a wonderful trip! You covered some of the same territory I was at in 2021. Camped in the same campground at TRNP. Love it. Great memories. One thing of note is, where you saw the flying geese sculpture is the northern terminus of the Enchanted Highway. If you go South from there, there are many huge sculptures along the way to the small town of Regent. Giant grasshoppers and pheasant, anyone? There's one dedicated to TR, and the underwater scene is spectacular! After the fact, I found out that zooming in on Google Maps shows approx locations and some photos! Maybe you can catch it on the way home. Have FUN!
In the 90s I drove through Chicago and I was shocked by the speed, aggressiveness and at times congested diving. Trying to drive on those roads was nightmare. No GPS back then relied on maps. Then there were the tolls. Ugh. Never seen them before. Anyway, before I entered into Chicago I noticed an out of state trucker/rig going same direction so I followed him half for safety and half cause I felt like I should. Once inside Chicago I kept my eyes on him. Moving thru lanes when he did. Tried to stay with him so I wouldn't get pulled off on some other direction. When we got to some tolls I got scared I didn't have correct change or enough money. Finally my turn and toll lady told me the trucker paid my toll and had noticed me not leaving his side and he was looking out for me! Sadly at the clearing out of Chicago I had to go another direction and he had to continue on. I will always be grateful to my guardian angel trucker.

I'm glad you and your dad are safe and having a wonderful time, in spite of the drive. Something you said really helped me tonight. I've been feeling like something was wrong with me and I couldnt figure out why. I've been depressed, easily annoyed and just plain miserable and unhappy. When you said "if you don't have God your not enjoying anything". It made me stop and think, I must not be putting God first in my heart and in my mind. I read the Bible every day. I've read it through many times, but I've read it like a novel sort of. You're supposed to do Bible study, but I don't really know how, I guess. Anyway, lately I've been kind of dreading saying my prayers at night. Its just repetitive I pray the same things every day. I still do it, but it's become like a chore. I hate that. I have to get back to focusing on him more. Thank you so much. Stay safe. Lots of love, Carol.
enjoyed your video a lot. i did a lot of van travel before the pandemic, not much anymore. its not always easy, but so rewarding. take it easy and have fun, don't be in to much of a hurry.

This is so great. I went on an adventure out west for 2 weeks in 2016 with my Daddy! He has some health issues so we alternated tent camping with overnight in a motel every few days.
I live in the suburbs of Chicago and I can't even handle the interstate traffic closer to the city.

during the pandemic my uncle billy went over to the philippines and rent out a room and him and the family he rent the room from they got close so he decided to move there and live with the family that he rent the room from and he got married to a filipino woman
