The Pierce Volterra is America’s first (and the first in the Western Hemisphere) Electric Fire Engine in service, this is only a prototype model so this will be the only Volterra in service for right now. Engine 8 is currently using this as a trial run for one year while their 2019 Quantum is being stored at station 11 as a ready reserve. Great catch! This right there ladies and gentlemen in how a hybrid fire engine should be! Pierce's volterra hybrid and E-One 's vector electric are great examples of a North American Electric fire apparatus. And they probably won't break like rosebrokens tend to do ;)

​@@coloniafire1 Because Pierce's Volterra is technically a hybrid: most of the time it runs off its batteries & thus electricity, but sometimes additional power (for the batteries or what the electric motor's driving: the wheels or the pump) is needed: for that a diesel engine located under the cab kicks in.

Nice catch on that electric fire engine. It's much quieter than the diesel, but the sirens and horns are still loud even though some fire stations are switching to electric.
