- Florida and Washington played on day 3 of the 2024 Little League World Series. Florida entered with a 1-0 record, while Washington played in Williamsport for the first time this year.
Covering sports in a unique way since 2018.

One of my favorite accomplishments is revolutionizing the way sports channels create thumbnails. I've adopted two different styles, one with logos on the left and a game snapshot on the right, and the other with the logos in the middle and game snapshots representing both teams on either side.
I have a combined 4 years of experience as a Baseball & Basketball Play by Play announcer, which is where I learned my skills for commentary/breakdowns.

It's going to be Texas or Hawaii vs Venezuela for the title. Kid from Venezuela throws 81mph fastballs and has other pitches. Venezuela going to win it all.

How do they not get legit umps for this? Ive seen a few umps take like 5 seconds to register an out or strike call. That obstruction call was garbage. No one wouldve argued that he did, that was just an ump who had his mind set on something and called it
Go from ump to...ch ump in seconds...
Cause little league already pays for travel, meals, and housing for these umps they are volunteers.
I hate the delayed strike call because it can get a pitcher out of his or her rhythm

Yeah definitely, 2 runners on with no outs. You have to put the ball in play. Three Ks in a row. They got lucky with a passed ball with 2 outs to score a run but man you need to have those kids be aggressive at that point. Good things happen when you put the ball in play.
The swings looked defensive is why I say that.

@@cryptoexplainer4697 except for at 4:51 when the shortstop is basically blocking out the runner from the base before he has the ball. if he was straddling the base or had moved into that position with the ball he was fine. without possession and impeded the runner. sorry but it was obstruction

He's got skill. The problem is that he knows it at too young of an age. As he moves up the ranks and meets players as good or better than him, he'll calm down.
The Puyallup pitcher couldn't concentrate solely on pitching because he was adjusting his hat on every pitch.

except for that the SS was called for obstruction. he was impeding the runners ability to reach the base without the ball. so actually you are the wrong one here.

I think Texas lost in the regionals but the team that beat them was disqualified for stacking their roster

The team Texas lost too should have been here. They probably would be the top US team. Anyone interested go watch the YT videos on it. Although it sounds like it was a travel team assembled for LL. So I understand why.

Question: Are these regular catchers or maybe recruits filling in as part of the all-star team in the respective hometown? I ask because I see a lot of passed/mishandled pitches that are not so far out of the strike zone. I understand pitches in the dirt or way out of the zone, but after watching all the highlights so far (thanks, Wheels), just seems the gloves are not quite there, esp. for US teams. Just asking, and yes, I played baseball from the time I was 7 until second year of high school.
Some of these pitches are coming in at around a mlb equivalent of 100 mph. You go catch it. I played college baseball and never saw anything moving over about 94 mph. You damn sure never saw anything near it as a random sophomore

That strike call at 11:19 was atrocious! That ball was 8 inches outside the plate.

I've like Florida since the watching them in the regional.
these games are fun to watch, but as a coach , you have to tell these kids with two strikes you better swing, A lot of these games, these kids are striking out looking , at least with a foul ball you get another chance and run up the pitch count, maybe get a walk on the next pitch, but was a good game, a couple bad calls on the umpires, probably wouldn't of mattered, you have 1st and 3rd, 0 outs, and the coach doesn't bunt, IDK

Two things are clear. Little League catchers absolutely suck. The number of passed balls is ridiculous. Second, how does the plate umpire set the top of the strike zone for any particular batter when his eyes are at the same height as the batter? The PU eyes should be set at the TOP of the zone for each batter. That means if he has to track the pitch on an upwards trajectory, it's a ball. It also means that he loses perspective on pitches at the knees. I don't know who is teaching these guys, but they are doing the umpires and the players a disservice.
I guess because so many MLB players are endorsing Florida, the Umps are HEAVILY in their favor.. So many bad calls shifted the game their way. I hate when that happens. I'll be watching for the team that eliminates them! Umps can't protect them forever lol
