    Maximalism being a dragon makes so much sense. Because of course a dragon would collect and hoard as much treasure as they can, so translate that into an aesthetic and you get a really busy overfilled space

      Sad beige can work if it takes a warm, rustic feel where it feels almost like looking at storybooks, but rarely does it end up working that way. I think if people are really set on making a beige house, they should still have a playroom since babies have a difficult time distinguishing shades. Or grab an accent color for some interest! Bright colors don’t have to be artificial and garish!

    • @SunshinePIRRATA
      @SunshinePIRRATA 18 дней назад +20

      I associate coquette with nymphette and lolita (book turned into movies by people who don't understood the story) style, because it comes from there, it's literally the same thing but renamed, it's not based on j-fashion XD
      I do have respect for a certain part of the coquette community, the ones who readopted the term and wear coquette as a movement of freedom from all the ties they were forced into during puberty, at the hands of abusive and unreasonable people that stripped them of their childhood based on how their body looks. And in a way, that part of coquette does resemble the origins of japanese lolita and gyaru, as those were also feminist movements.
      The rest of coquette and it's relation with paedos, EDs, drugs and abuse shouldn't be ignored and I believe we should steer away younger people from the aesthetic as much as posible, at least where I live, it has become a trend between preteens.

    • @RadiantSharaShaymin
      @RadiantSharaShaymin 12 дней назад +2

      That's kind of why I draw myself with the design I do (not my Shaymin profile)
      I wanted to look initially unnerving, but with time can become more welcoming, even though the appearance doesn't change. Humanlike enough to pass as just dressing up, but strange enough that being some kind of monster isn't off the table - as defined by what the world seems to expect. Having only black and white with a splash of dark gray, the only place for color at all is the outline itself. A balance where contrast is the cohesion. Maybe uncanny at first, but the more that's understood about what's behind it, the less the mask has to hide without changing.
      People will see what they want to anyway.

As someone who has spent an unhealthy amount of time around hospitals (pun definitely intended) for both physical and mental issues as I was growing up i find it comforting that people can take those things like being in and out of the hospital and make it so that they’re comfortable expressing that. i really appreciate you not making the menhera girl a monster! a lot of times, people who are severely mentally or physically ill view themself as a monster or inhuman, so not playing into those negative thoughts is a good change! having chronic illnesses and needing to be in hospitals a lot is scary by itself and the ability to make it something cute and removing the scary aspects from it has helped me and a lot of other chronically ill people view their situation in a better light. i think the community definitely still needs to work on separating from the people who romanticize illnesses and s/h, but the fact that there is a space for chronically ill people to not always view themselves as doomed and alienated is amazing!

    “Menhera” is a Japanese abbreviation of “mental health” and came out as an adjacent to the “yandere” character trope.
    As a Japanese, my understanding of the trend is that we put a lot of pressure on girls & women to be cute and appealing, and that the fashion is supposed to be a representation of a girl attempting to “mask” her true-but-struggling, self under ribbons & bows, or “making the most” out of a bad situation by literally and metaphorically“dressing up” scars with rainbow bandages to patch herself together.
    In the past, the take on the trend was rather shallow, but nowadays, it’s grown into something greater about a person’s mental health journey.
    As a society that almost always ignores invisible illnesses, some people find comfort in making some of it visible through the fashion. Personally, I like it a fair bit, as it really has brought the discussion of mental health more into the mainstream.

    i actually kind of like 'sad beige', when i was a kid i had some colorful toys and stuff but the rest of our house was very 'dull' a lot of light grey and beige, and i would often just leave my own room for the 'sad beige' because all the colors and things kinda overwhelmed small me lol, to me it's not sad it's just calm, it's empty feeling but not in a sad way

But when you were talking about the goblin core in the last video with a Maximalism core in this video you made it sound so positive (these are my aesthetics) and not critical like how people at my schools when I was younger, I love how you don’t judge the aesthetic or the people who fall under these categories when you make these characters

    another issue with a lack of color around young children is that it doesn't allow their sense of sight to develop properly. Children have a hard time distinguishing colors and their ability to distinguish colors, not just by name but to visually distinguish them, is still developing in their early years. The bold, distinct colors help to develop their eyes' ability to percieve colors.

    All these new aesthetics popping up every five minutes and here I am wearing the same "beige jacket/denim jeans/white sweater/graphic tee of a band I rarely listen to" style that I've had going on since I was fourteen or younger. And my room is the dino-shaped lamp that I got when I was ten and whatever IKEA furniture I could fit when I decided to rearrange it, with the occasional Lego statue, random homemade plant pot, and collected snow globe. The only "warm colours" is the sun going through the beige curtains and the orange-tinged lamps whenever the sun goes away. As for cool colours I guess you could count the flashing light on my computer that brightens my whole room at night, plus the bedsheets which are sometimes blue.
    I am the pinnacle of interior decorating and classy style

    Thinking on it maybe your subconscious want to keep menhera aesthetic a regular character design rather than a monster could stem from both the fact of mental issues being so monstrous in itself and that being a core principle of the aesthetic and/or the fact that you state that it did actually help you go through such a bad time because I know that at least whenever I use something to cope my brain will almost refuse to associate it with anything that might diminish it or keep me away from wanting to use it to continue coping (thankfully it hasn't done this with anything actually harmful in itself since I don't do drugs, smoke, vape, or drink alcohol but it does do this a *lot* with medias like video games, t.v. series, movies, etc.)

    Please please please do a video on the tma fears. The Magnus Archives is my favorite podcast ever and they have 14/15 entities that embody every big fear so i think making that into a cute girl would be super fun (i’ve been relistening to tma and your videos a lot recently so i’ve mixed them all into this)
    The Eye- the fear of being watched or having your darkest secrets known. also if someone is watching something horrible happen to you and decides not to help. lots of eyes, emerald green, upper class people, academics, archiving specifically.
    The Lonely- fear of being alone, not but literally just that like it’s not that deep (i mean kinda but not really). lots of fog, the sea, moreso physical loneliness but there are a few episodes about loneliness in juxtaposition to others, depression, light blue/desaturated blue.
    The End- the fear of death. usually a calm inevitability, moreso feelings of paralyzing fear bordering on apathy. black and skulls and red strings and random freak accidents are most common with this.
    The Dark- fear of the dark. in a literal sense yes but also in a lack of information way. not knowing what is lurking beyond. children, bedtime, ideas of monsters moreso than actual ones.
    The Vast- the fear of extremely large spaces. like space, the open sky, the sea. the idea that we are but specks in the face of the large expanse of the universe.
    The Buried- totally opposite from the last one: claustrophobia. more in the sense of dirt and being buried alive and choking suffocation.
    The Desolation- the fear of something destroying your life and everything you love in it so completely you are left with nothing, and all this for absolutely no reason, also fire. candles, wax, cultish stuff, it kinda reminds me of the Amish? lack of connections, and of course fire like a lot of it.
    The Flesh- body horror, also cannibalism. it’s really weird. also slaughter houses. meat is meat is meat is meat. also fun fact in one episode there was the meat apartment where someone just stapled meat to the wall.
    The Slaughter- the fear of meaningless violence. has a war (specifically WWI and WWII) aesthetic, if you need/want to listen to any episode then the piper for this one is probably the best.
    The Hunt- the fear of being hunted. being chased by something. although the hunt and slaughter are very similar since the hunt is the first part, the slaughter is the second part. so it’s not any actual killing, just the fight or flight of “oh my god it’s chasing me it’s gonna get me oh my god oh my god.” but one interesting thing is this can never be satisfied. this has animals of predation as it’s aesthetic, also werewolves, and weird enough the police (don’t ask).
    The Corruption- my favorite, the fear of infestation and disease. everything icky and things that make you want to take a shower. worms and ants and fleas and ticks and things that make you itch. mold and plague and disease and things that make you sick. also toxic love, the idea of things that just make a toxic mulch, of things that fuse together like wet books or wasps or a town of sick people. this has all those aesthetics attached to them, infatuation, the smell of a house with sick people, uncared for places in the house that grow more and more mold, making the rest of it unlivable. can you tell this is my favorite?
    The Spiral- the fear of insanity. delusion, things aren’t right but you can’t seem to parse what is and isn’t since it’s all confusing over saturated colors and doors and halls that have 7 right turns in quick succession. and of course spirals. fractals. chaos. the lightning fractal (it has a specific name i just forgot it.
    The Stranger- the fear of the outgroup. the idea that something just isn’t right with them. the uncanny valley. circuses and freak shows and dolls and people that are just piles of skin or literal dolls (i

    The Menhera character invokes so much moe. I understand how the fashion can easily be problematic but can also function as a kind of empowerment for people with chronic medical struggles. Not a fan of gatekeeping but this seems like one of the more justifiable cases of 'unless you are a part of that group (which I am not FTR), please be very careful and respectful if you're going to engage'.
