Honestly, I just like instrumental songs more than those with lyrics. It's probably because I'm a writer, and like to imagine scenes where the song is in the background.
Have you listened to Godspeed You! Black Emperor? I love imagining scenes or stories to their music. Maybe you'd draw some inspiration from them, too :)
Oh, I'm the same! Except with me I prefer having lyrics to listen to, instrumentals can work but I often get bored halfway through and I like imagining characters singing the lyrics, it's very fun.
I am an avid listener of game soundtracks. i listen to the omori music so much. i have a spotify stats app and i’ve listened to 14,853 minutes which means I’ve spent a total of 10 days of my life just on this soundtrack (9/10 days just in the last year) 💀💀 i also love undertale and deltarune music 💝

Honestly.
I personally didn't notice it before, but a lot of songs I liked where how I felt about life or the terrible relationship I had.
Once I broke up with my ex and actually for once just got to sit there not stressing about anything, getting pulled out of depression was when I realised it.
Now I don't really have any favourite songs though. The past songs I liked just feel kinda weird to listen to now :-:
The only song of those I still like is "Bottom of the pit".

I would say "indie" used as a blanket term is my favorite genre. My music taste is pretty wide and indie generally encompasses most of it, each song seems more heartfelt and they have a uniqueness to them that a lot of mainstream doesn't.
death metal + deathcore's my favorite (as long as the mixing isn't trash, a lot of vocalists are failed in that way.) even if they're talking about things that are uncomfortable or gross, the lyrics are crazy well written (sewage by scumfuck, to the hellfire by lorna shore, any infant annihilator song but especially swinaecologist)

Also, anyone else just love J-metal or J-rock specifically that’s really hard rock-like and you didn’t realize it but it’s really dark and about the world burning? “USSEEWA” by Ado is an example or “Mind Brand” by Maretu, literally any Maretu song is an example. At least for me, I’m a sweetheart who’s very loud and loves a fun time
As a smiths fan, their music does not bring me down at all. It's like, looking at life's worst parts and accepting it with a bit of humour. "Ask" is such a chill song.

I like songs that give off the feel that it’s like the end of the world or like the world is upside down! Some Songs: Alone at the edge of the universe, dum dum x everybody likes you, candle queen, crows trail, Mother Mother wrecking ball, fighting with the melody, the more popular versions of Mind electric, Michael in the bathroom, Icicles, nobody, the room where it happened, and more!!!
A part 2 would be cool especially because of how unique certain types electronic and indie there is. Some cool designs could for sure come out of an electric swing character!

My playlist is like 80% ghost's songs and covers of their songs, 10% vocaloid songs from other producers, and the rest are songs by human singers and musicians
I know my favorites are a mix of nerdcore, funny yet serious bops, and vocaloid, but I would love to see more of your interpritations of these characters, I also loved the hyper pop design.
When you mentioned KNOWER, my heart rate jumped for a second. I ADORE Louis Cole's and KNOWER's music. And I am really into Lemon Demon/Neil and Tally Hall and all those types of creative music out there.

It would be fun to see a sequal with genres such as emo, metal, and punk. As someone’s who’s a big fan of all of the above, I’ve noticed that people (at least the ones I’ve met) usually into the genres (including myself) often are kind people who may put up a darker front on the surface.
emos are literally the nicest people ever! but i’m probably a bit biased…
YES!!! Its such a big genre of music with crazy sub cultures, you cannot just push it into just a single label

This video had pretty lighthearted genres, I think a part 2 should be all of the rage and doom sounds! Metal, punk, post punk, emo, etc.
THIS WAS SUCH A COOL VIDEO!!, you should totally do a part two!!!! My favorite genre of music is what I like to describe as "youtube fancore music", songs by the Stupendium, Random Encounters, DA Games, CG5, etc etc, the five nights at freddy's songs and the undertale songs to the hazbin hotel songs and literally like most fandoms!! Its such a niche that I can't really use apps like spotify too much cause it doesnt have those hidden gems ya know?
Also, for the last category, I will say. Jazz EMU produces some great music for this. Like still waiting, talks about the dvd logo. And the corner of the TV screen, which is great. I think there are some other ones that are really funny by him. Listen to him, he's great, please.

It's a kinda niche genre, but I'd love to see folk music. Whether it be covers of actual old folk songs or modern songs in that style, it's my favorite. An example artist is Heather Dale.

Honestly, the revenge country vibes are my favorite country music. The other "beer, girls, and truck" stuff is too boring and just not my vibe. I need more rock or pop in it.
I also have some sad girl music, but instead I just prefer clever lyrics with emotional or interesting stories with some vibe (Lemon Demon is an example..... turns out you mentioned it at the very end lol)

In my opinion, pop shouldn’t even really count as a genre because “pop” just means popular music. Like, the things everyone is listening to or is doing well on the charts. It doesn’t really describe the sound and feel of the music. Like, under those rules, Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa would go under the “pop” umbrella and those two things couldn’t be FURTHER from each other

I listen to a lot of English covers of Japanese pop as well as just Japanese pop (like Ado, PinocchioP, Deco*27) (English covers: Amalee, Rachie, Will Stetson) and when I do listen to English music it’s normally either boy realist with a hint of nostalgia (like Fin Argus and specifically Shoreline by Littlest Chicken) or femme fatale villainess music (Dove Cameron, Ellise, ect). I often listen to a lot of artists, whatever songs I like, honestly just give me some fire lyrics with a sick story and a sick beat and I’ll probably like it. Ofc I do like the occasional sad vampire blues with a hint of mommy lol

this was a great video! if you end up doing another one could you do goth music, because i feel like when people hear someone like goth music they assume they’re all emo and love to wear black, but just because your a goth doesn’t mean you have to dress like how goths traditionally dress and i find that awesome.

Me personally, it's just video game OSTs. Mostly indie games. Then also a bit of classical. And like, maybe a little light metal. But I don't really listen to like, actual metal. And also, like dumb songs that get stuck in your head like on the radio and stuff. And then like, original piano compositions. And I like guitar though. Oh, and I also love drum & bass music. I’d love to see a k-pop character like this. It definitely has bad seeds who are obsessed with the idols (which a lot of time the companies actually encourage these actions, especially with how albums are full of photos of each of the members, some albums have member versions of the album, and there are many other things that companies push to give fans what they want), but I also think many of the fans really care for their idols (they voice their opinions, they fight for their groups when they think companies mishandle their artists, and even protest trucks and such get set out in front of the companies). I also think K-Pop really markets to people who love performances, who want to see idols who really put 100% into their performances. I also think K-Pop says about the people who listen to it is that you are open minded and really appreciate the artist, since many of them don’t make much money from their music, so basically a caring person who can be obsessive if not kept in check. They also try and stand up for other people online (like they changed an offensive hashtag into something positive on Twitter/X), but there also are fans who aren’t good in the fandoms (like LE SSERAFIM’s fans reacting to merch ad they had a couple months ago having a dark skin model in the ad and basically these “fans” thought she was going to be added to the group and whatnot and basically called her racist names and even stated the stupidest hashtag, keepkpopkorean, which is ironically funny, since many K-Pop songs are inspired by music from the west and some even made by artists outside of Korea and Asia (especially in the company SM Entertainment), and many of the songs taking from black artists sounds, let alone Michael Jackson having been one of the main influences in the creation of the genre).

Whilst lemon demon is one of my favourite artists and I love that genre of music, I also love will wood/will wood and the tapeworms yet I have no idea what genre he is so I’d love if you made one of these on his music or stuff like it!
I think that's why Will Wood's music is so interesting, its the fact that it's sort of a mix of a bunch of different genres. It just makes listening to his music so enjoyable and you always find some new things each time you relisten.

I can respect that perspective on pop music enjoyers. It was surprising to learn that Adam Savage, a great creator inspiration of mine, enjoys it just cuz that music was there for him in through times and he's definitely not very "normal" but is really down to earth.
I’d love to see your take on Lofi and synthwave. Those two I know aren’t really genres to some people, but I’d still like to see how you would visualize them as characters. Aside from pop and rap, pop being my favorite as I mentioned, Lofi and synthwave are my go to genres for chill kinds of music. So yeah, amazing video lavender! both are music genres lol. lofi is definitely a genre, i love listening to early car seat headrest which is lofi. synthwave is an aesthetic but a music genre was born to replicate that aesthetic ☝️🤓
