Smackdown 2 had a great season mode, but it was mostly random in terms of cutscenes. No Mercy and HCTP easily had the most enjoyable career modes, but SYM will always have a soft spot in my heart because if you held all titles at once, it said "WWE Grand Slam Champion" in your entrance ☺️

Wow, hard to believe No Mercy is going to be 20 years old next year. Such a great game, and yes, the best story mode I've played. Day of Reckonining 1 and 2 and WWE 2k19 also had good story modes.
Unfortunately, a sign of the times. Watch some old episodes of Raw from when HHH & Stephanie were first running it. They dished out matches like this a LOT. 😂
I vividly remember having to face the APA in the back and I remember it was a HAVE TO WIN scenario and it literally taking the life out of me and brought nightmares for the rest of my years. But all in all I loved the game. 4.5/5. Handicaps was the only flaw I felt as well.
Wish I had an easy way to replay this, but my N64 and cart(s) are 7000 miles away. When my boss said he wanted interactive cutscenes in SVR 2010’s Road to Wrestlemania mode, I knew branches were vital. But with the cost of cutscenes, we had to be clever with it.

I noticed older people liked Wrestlemania more cuz they stopped watching wtestling after prime Attitude era. (Owen hart days) where i was still into wrestling until the last SD vs Raw game
I remember on my PS2 I had an undefeated streak with Jericho on HCTP. My ps2 was on it's last legs and would play up. I was able to play every PPV and defend the title. Until, Backlash against John Cena. It would always freeze during the entrances. I had to skip the match which in HCTP- you always lose when skipping. It still hurts to this day.

It was a story mode that would involve using your created wrestler from the cancelled GBC version of No Mercy and it had you going through 10 matches in a linear story where your character didn't play much of a role in the story and at the end you'd win the world title and your GBC wrestler would be saved on the N64 version of No Mercy, this was all going to be possible via the N64 expansion pack. Although as we know, that GBC version was cancelled however the storyline remains in No Mercy's Data and can be played via Gameshark codes and is fully functional. Just figured I'd post a comment about it since I don't hear much about it, and it existing would only further the point that championship was stacked with content

Win get one path, lose get another, if you eliminate 18 opponents then lose you get this awesome Stone Cold storyline where he's beefing with Vince and the Stooges. What also makes it special it's at a time when the Roster is at arguably it's peak, reason why HCTP is amazing is due to the depth of the Roster, and the same can be said here.

Depends on which storyline you're doing. If you bump into ROCK in the storyline, he'd usually talk the way he does IRL. If you're playing as the Rock you'd have to actually go down paths that led to and through Rock story's from IRL, but often you would come in and out of those. For a few weeks you'd be ROCK then you may be in EDDIE's role.

Hopefully 2k20 they go deeper and make it last at least a few years and make universe more with more chaos. I want invasion of brands unexpected things to take place. Decisions in universe mode would be awesome. For explain if stone cold and HHH were team mates and they had a rivalry with Kane and undertaker and HHH is a title match on the screen it should distract HHH with them kidnapping Stone cold if you go save him something happens and if you stay behind you get snuck with a chair or something and the match continues and from there things take place to develop a more realistic universe mode.

When doing the European title challenge there's a point where you have to win a handicap match you have to there's no progression other wise you have to keep doing it and I still to this cany beat that match
Never played these games when I was a kid. Just started watching gameplay videos and know I’m strongly considering buying a 64 and no mercy👍👍 especially since today’s wrestling games suck donkey ass! Hope Yukes new game will be something close to these types of games

Pick a belt to go for - play through branching storylines. This should still be the standard for wrestling games.
