Ron has this innate ability to fuse together electronica, tribal, jazz and soul into an absolutely banging track that transcends genres...his phrasing and composition is sublime aswell, this is why I put him and Kerri Chandler into the 'Gods' category..they're just supremely gifted musicians, engineers and instrumentalists aswell as DJs...and both supremely likeable, lovely people too!! Legends both!
I like most of his releases but I really dig some of his more jazz-infused tribal-like releases. He came to Providence once at a festival but I didn't make there on time.Would have loved to hear him spin
About the You Brought The Sunshine - the Clark Sisters tune...I don't remember Larry Levan killing the record the way it was killed at Club Zanzibar by Larry Patterson & Hippie Torrales and Tony Humphries....Hippie from Newark, NJ who mixed the record...so with that being said...that statement is questionable.
Yeah sorry man, your right i haven't really listened to all his stuff tbh just heard Shark Chase in boiler room once. Was pretty surprised to find it on Shazam

This guy is awesome. So warm and eloquent. And, mark my words, his last records are also superb (if you like deep house sounds)
That floating points track is fire, early days for an amazing artist
Even cooler that J Rocc of all people put Ron onto it! My mind is blown..

I remember my first budget dig

what's that tune at 1:30 again!? doing my head in...
I might be 8 years late but it’s Stand on the world - Joubert singers ! 😅😅
@@grooveanalog9238 just in time for me! thank you
please tell me what's the name of the song at the beginning!
Ron Trent - Altered States, he produced it at the age of 14 before getting it signed a while latter when he was still in High School
That Floating Points record is not the one to get but there are others that he did which is more on Point!
nah man the b-side is a big tune. sure, it's not his best work but shark chase is classic FP.
So you saying shark Chase is a classic FP? Again, I believe he has better productions.
Yeah sorry man, your right i haven't really listened to all his stuff tbh just heard Shark Chase in boiler room once. Was pretty surprised to find it on Shazam
He just sent me a new one that's coming out this month and its hot! To me!
Can u send me the wav? Its probably no where near as good as Shark Chase - Which is his best work
N.1
anyone know the track at the beginning?
Oh yea...it's Ron Trent's - Altered States.
one of the best techno/house/electronic track ever producer. hands down.
song at 2:00?
I should find out why Timex Social Club changed their name to Club Noveau.
Surely Shark Chase!!
You guys used to have much more popular musicians and people in the Whats In My Bag series.....what happened?
Ron Trent is a house music legend FYI, so much modern music owes it's existence to the underground house music scenes of Chicago and New York.
It's noticeable that the black artists nearly always chose black music and never "white" but the white guests nearly always chose black music as well.
+dirkbogarde44 Absolute confirmation bias.
Also Floating Points is a fucking ghost he is so white.
So, you've not caught Death's "What's In My Bag"? You don't get much "whiter" than King Crimson, ELP, Steely Dan, Jethro Tull, and Patti Smith!

dirkbogarde44 There's 3 black dudes in Death!

My bad. Multi-tasking. One group. One segment. Still a minority.
