As a DJ and a record collector with decades of exploring music and sharing that music, be it to friends or a crowd, those were fine choices good sir. Music feeds the soul, the soul feeds love, love feeds us all. Respect peace and big love to you!
This vid shows how humble and kind Michael is. Not only is he a hugely gifted singer/songwriter, he is also an absolute gentleman. He pronounces the Italian titles and names perfectly, but makes an apology for his supposedly "bad" pronunciation. Nice touch of class, man.
Michael's new album "Small Changes" is my favorite album of the year. I'm so delighted that Amoeba Music featured his visit to their Hollywood store. His picks, while unexpected, are choice! Thank you Amoeba and Michael Kiwanuka for making my day.
When I heard the live session version of Cold Little Heart, I knew Mr. Kiwanuka was a marvel. From what I can gather, he is EXACTLY the kind of musician I love most. Humble, profoundly gifted, educated in his discipline and well-versed in its history, his contemporaries and predecessors, and he seems to inspire a lot of loyalty which, I think, speaks to his integrity and character.
Miles Smiles… arguably the greatest album of all time from arguably the greatest band of all time, regardless of genre. Listen to that one with open ears kiddies!
I love when they pick an artist who has also done a What's In My Bag, and then the link for it shows up under the video. Now I get to watch Jessica Pratt's What's In My Bag! ❤
very very cool records luv his tastes miles smiles I had forgotten that record, also Roland Kirk, cool guy, seemingly very nice ,thanks so much,Happy Holidays guys👍🎄
I will always remember discovering this guy just before and through lockdown 2020. Cheered so hard when he won the Mercury Music prize too....................all of his picks seem similar to my nighttime, garden music listening during those weird covid times.
Ooo Archie Shepp one is a must buy...As is the Johnny Otis and PF Sloan and the italian one. Just as well I have the others otherwise this would be an expensive watch.
Yes: Judas and the Black Messiah’s soundtrack and sound design were genius imho. Also, MK’s new album is solid as expected but in particular, soundwise is (sadly, very) exceptional.
IT'S THE LEAST LIKELY OF RECORDS THAT ARE THE REAL BANGERS!!!!!!!! AND FOR THOSE WHO AIN'T KNOWING.....IT AIN'T NOTHING TO RECORD DIGGIN....IT'S WHAT YOU'RE FEELING IS WHAT CATCHES YOUR ATTENTION.
Archie Shepp had to pay the bills and made money with dinner jazz. He should be up there with Ornette Coleman IMO, but he doesn’t have the consistent body of work. In the words of John Zorn: “Jazz Snobs Eat S***”.
Thanks for having me ❤
Great picks!
Thanks for the latest album!
Thanks for being awesome! Great picks 🍻

…and thank you for being have’d ☺️

Love it when true musicians just happen to be true music fans as well. Thanks for this one, Amoeba!
I am 54 years old and genuinely learn about a new artist on practically every episode of WIMB. In this instance it was Karen Dalton - Thanks Michael!
There's a great documentary about her from a few years ago. I'm 53 and learned of her from that!
@@gwts1171 Thanks dude, will seek it out!

Get this man a Grammy!
A man of taste, and in my opinion stands as one of the greats himself.
Michael Kiwanuka & Jordan Peele = yes!
not surprising, but what a cool and genuine dude, with lovely music choices!

Exceptional selection by Michael. And such a nice person at the same time, no wgo whatsoever.
You could tell the host truly related with Michael Kiwanuka by the number of times they interjected to engaged with the artist.

The real deal - his records have such beautiful arrangements and (yes) vibe that he obviously has listened to lots of great stuff
Amazing picks! Also an amazing artist!
I will always remember discovering this guy just before and through lockdown 2020. Cheered so hard when he won the Mercury Music prize too....................all of his picks seem similar to my nighttime, garden music listening during those weird covid times.

F yeah!
Karen Dalton sounds like 2024, damn.

I wanna leave a comment here just in case that Jordan Peele collaboration ever does happen
PF Sloan sounds like sex funk era Tim Buckley
Archie Shepp had to pay the bills and made money with dinner jazz. He should be up there with Ornette Coleman IMO, but he doesn’t have the consistent body of work. In the words of John Zorn: “Jazz Snobs Eat S***”.
Karen Dalton really put hundreds of young girls trying to sound like her and making the workd a little bit less bearable in the process.
Man he makes boring overrated music. Like The Lighthouse Family level of boring. Big snore.
great musician and singer so underrated!
