Having a music teacher that will listen to what you're interested in learning and teaching you accordingly in a way that still lets you learn is so key!
Big influence on another band I love, ALVVAYS, and I was fortunate to see both this year........and now an Amoeba vid. Happy days! Hope they enjoy the tour as much as we fans :)
@Cagolapedna belle and Sebastian, orange juice, sedition, the exploited, Cocteau twins, teenage fan club, bis, boards of Canada, the list could go on and on.
First heard Camera Obscura on a John Peel radio show donkeys years ago, really good band. Always loved their album Let's get out of the Country, it's truly beautiful with some of the purist vocals i've ever heard
Fun fact, the guitar solo on the great Roches track Hammond Song is provided by the records' producer, prog rock guitar hero extraordinaire, Robert Fripp.
I think it's wonderful that Camera Obscura was so supportive of my favorite hometown band Agent Ribbons after they toured together. They knew a good thing when they heard it! Check out Camera Obscura's video for "Lloyd, I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken" if you haven't seen it yet. Tracyanne's dour mood in contrast to the bright sets is quite something to see!
Are you kidding me, I was already in love with this band but to hear that they were inspired by Take the Skinheads Bowling by Camper Van Beethoven is just wow. I hope to see them live again next year!
Cocteau Twins are SO good. But Innervisions man...what a f***ing album that is. Flawless. For an Anderson .Paak fix, I'd really recommend the first NxWorries album he did with Knxledge, it's excellent.
Holy shit "Shine like a new pin" is one of my favorite CO songs but I knew nothing about Camper Van Beethoven or that new pin borrows directly from "take the skinheads bowling" wow
Yes to everything here. Yes to the Beastie Boys, Yes to Blondie, Yes to the Cocteau Twins and yes to Innervisions being an absolute juggernaut of a record from Start to Finish!
No guilt. And that isn't to deny strangeness. Just in the outer world, no guilt. The issue that follows is what average people do to leverage power and at the tax of who?

God I absolutely love this band. Saw them in Portland and was utterly floored.
I really appreciate their music!
Transphobic band
People are going to be obsessed with Elizabeth Fraser for years to come. Such an iconic voice.
......and perhaps Jeff Buckley...."All Flowers in Time Bend Towards the Sun"
Love her in Cocteau Twins and even more so with Massive Attack (Tear Drop)! Grangemouth, Alba(Scotland) 🏴!!
The Other Two - ‘Selfish’ - great track !
Do you think Tracyanne told Randy Newman,
‘Get my name outcha damn mouth’? 😅
I saw Camera Obscura at the Wiltern in June, a fantastic live performance.
Big influence on another band I love, ALVVAYS, and I was fortunate to see both this year........and now an Amoeba vid. Happy days! Hope they enjoy the tour as much as we fans :)
My Maudlin Career is a special album for me. French Navy and Swans are tracks I regularly go back to. Great to see them on here finally.
@@_-LK-_ same here, it's very very special ❤❤❤
Heaven and Las Vegas.....one of the greatest albums of all time❤
Blue bell knoll and victorialand are way better.
@@verystripeyzebra Garlands is even better
Starting out SO STRONG with the Roches pick!!!! Criminally underrated band!
Great selections, almost all new to me. And they have interesting things to say about them. They come across as really nice people as well.
You gotta love a rich Scottish accent.
Love Steve Marsh travel vids :)
God bless Scotland.
Considering the size of the country. A very large amount of great bands come from the place!
and the miserable folk that dwell there
A buddy of mine used to say ´if it ain’t Scottish, it’s crap!´. 😂
@Cagolapedna belle and Sebastian, orange juice, sedition, the exploited, Cocteau twins, teenage fan club, bis, boards of Canada, the list could go on and on.
@Cagolapedna I mean, you’re very wrong. Teenage Fanclub alone are worth the entry.
Always heard of this band, like heard their name, never heard them, but I did, just recently, and I liked what I heard.

Produced the record! Also Leo Kottke. This band has great taste.
Innervisions is a certified classic
Good to hear some fellow Scots on here.
What lovely people! Good taste as well.
Great choices! Loved it! ❤
Love this band!
Great to see someone representing Camper Van Beethoven
Tom Baker is the greatest doctor ever. And it was mind blowing as a kid who also watched Monty Python and saw John Cleese appear.
Such a fabulous and underrated band. They were slogged of as Belle and Sebastian rip off, when they definitely are not at all!!

I adore Camera Obscura. They were a huge inspiration for my roommates band "The Afternoon Naps". :)
lmao thats a great band name
@@TC-lk2ev it really is. I was jealous. :)
Are you kidding me, I was already in love with this band but to hear that they were inspired by Take the Skinheads Bowling by Camper Van Beethoven is just wow. I hope to see them live again next year!
Love them!
Randy Human is one of my faves.
Dr Who 'City Of Death' is a fantastic choice 👏👏👏
13:07 lol, great editing!
Great band! They've definitely got their own thing going. I'll have to pick up the new album!
First US television appearance in 2009 on Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, French Navy, on RUclips, fellow mate from Glasgow
Love love love the Obscura
The Roches, produced by the mighty Fripp!
I love Camera Obscure 🥰

And, like the lady said, the Anderson .Paak Tiny Desk concert is a fine thing
@@RayZappa Also excellent, agreed.
Mudlark is a great album and you can pick that up for under $10 usually
Holy shit "Shine like a new pin" is one of my favorite CO songs but I knew nothing about Camper Van Beethoven or that new pin borrows directly from "take the skinheads bowling" wow
I've heard great things about City of Death
Hey Tracyanne, I'm ready to be heartbroken 😊
Camera Obscura is ❤
Lloyd Cole is a fan.
@@davidellis5141 is he?? That's so sweet 😋
He's a huge Limmy fan too
Whenever I see Camera Obscura I think, "you with your dietary restrictions, said you love me with a lot of conviction."
@@mikemarkoeVideo I LOVE that line!!!! Their lyrics are just the best 🥰🥰🥰

I love you Camera Obscura.
I am happy when it's not only Bands I never heard of 😂
Someone should let her know Robert Fripp produced that Roches album and it was his wild guitar solo.
Hey Lloyd, I'm ready to be heartbroken
That’s not ‘Lies’ or ‘Little Lies’, but instead ‘Everywhere’ by Fleetwood Mac.
Viva Stevie Wonder.
so goated
The woman in the purple top has the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen
That's Traceyann the lead singer of Camera Obscura who I saw live recently....and yes I can confirm that she has the most beautiful eyes! ❤
Camera Obscura es una banda que se escucha en mi programa en Radio Nacional Esquel, Patagonia Argentina...
lol anderson paak is here❤😂
!
Nice guys
Tracyanne more like Fattyanne
Some great picks but also some stinkers. Like meeting Liz Fraser in a lift and Randy Newman farting horribly
hipsters. I thought they were all dead of covid by now.
Velma joined a band?
No guilt. And that isn't to deny strangeness. Just in the outer world, no guilt. The issue that follows is what average people do to leverage power and at the tax of who?
Average and below average. What is more important? Good art or unremarkable people who know how to talk good and talk about TV?
camera obscura de Nico
Camera Obscura or possibly a bunch of random people at a bus stop.
Disappointment. I would have loved to see them buy something from Whitehouse.
Got to be in the right mood for Whitehouse.....an evil mood😊
I found Wally 🤓
To not paint a kettle black
surprised they didn't buy a load of JK Rowling books
Where’s Waldo? Alive and middle aged, shopping at Ameba 😂
I see Tracyanne kept her transphobic comments to herself in this. Probably because it's San Francisco.
you mean standing up for women's rights? Traceyanne has said nothing wrong and women will not be silenced . You will be get over it ,hun. ❤❤
