I appreciate this video so much as a licensed cosmetologist. So many people on RUclips think you can buy pro products on Amazon and have a go at anything and it's so easy...it's really not. There's so much to it and having done a full cosmetology program I can tell you the nail training is some of the hardest and most intense material that's covered. You're awesome Cristine! Thank you!
One semester?? My course was a year long and they taught me only basics for the gel nails themselves (zero art, not even how to apply glitter) but went into depth on sanitation, and nail disorders and fungus. Been a fully qualified nail tech for 5 years and I still learn new stuff! I don't understand how one semester could possibly teach you what you need to know!

I have been a licensed Nail Tech for going on 7 years in the U.S. To get my license I had to do 300 hours of school, and then take the state exam which included doing live demonstration of a basic manicure and proper clean up. If I move, I can transfer my license to be valid in certain other states, but not all states accept licenses from other states.
Spider 300 hours is 12.5 days so technically if you didn't have to go by pre made schedules yes. (I don't know what the schedules are I'm 14 planning to be an architect. Not nail tech)
Spider About two months if school is about 40 hours per week (8 hours per day, 5 days per week). Much longer if school is just 1 or 2 days per week while being an apprentice at a salon the other days. Homework hours probably don't count towards the requirement, as that can't be checked for most students and it would be unfair to only count it for some students.
I was on an accelerated course which was about 6 months, but that was only because i was home for a very short time while my husband was in the military. Most colleges has the nail tech course as part time and take about a year. I had to do so many hours before i could start practicing on clients in the salon. And since we didnt get that many clients coming in for nails, i had to practice on other students and my manikin hand. This was for the state of michigan. I was lucky and did not have to get licenses in other states since i always worked on military bases which always me to keep any license i have in my home state.

I started watching the Naio Nails channel recently (because their nail artist, Kristy, is AMAZING), and yeah. I had NO IDEA there was so much chemistry involved. And physics! Very scientific stuff.
I guess they should be able to identify if you have any kind of disease on your hands and feet because they can refuse to do your nails and suggest a doctor appointment. It helps them stay healthy and stops the fungus, infection or whatever that is from spreading

I started watching the Naio Nails channel recently (because their nail artist, Kristy, is AMAZING), and yeah. I had NO IDEA there was so much chemistry involved. And physics! Very scientific stuff.
I guess they should be able to identify if you have any kind of disease on your hands and feet because they can refuse to do your nails and suggest a doctor appointment. It helps them stay healthy and stops the fungus, infection or whatever that is from spreading
