@@drummerw17 No way, omg that is so awesome. Where i am from in Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia Canada, we are some really huge Priest fans. I missed the concert they did in Halifax N.S. I really hope they come further down the next time if they come back.
Based on his work in Judas Priest, Racer X and even FIGHT I'd say that Scott Travis is the quintessential Metal drummer. Not saying he's the best ever, but if you want Metal drumming done right he's the man! He's steady, groovy, and he can get technical when it's needed in the song! A true professional!
And he created the drum part for Painkiller.

I saw you guys on the Epitaph tour in Reading, PA, and flew to Chicago for the British Steel anniversary tour. Went to that show with my 2 best friends from HS. Thank you again for all the inspiration.
Great to see a super metal drummer not killing himself but giving a 100 percent and having some fun too, also not playing so loud that it chokes the drums, this is why we use mics, nice one Travis!

Double bass drum work always interested me, especially a song like Rapid Fire. Used to be a drummer and I could do somewhat of a drum roll on a single bass drum, kind of double, maybe quick triplet. The synchronization of Scott with those super long arms does look almost effortless.

Travis was a big fan of Les Binks’ playing. I think that’s where part of his style came from.

The irony is that for all the great drummers that Priest had (Les Binks, Simon Phillips, Scott Travis), their most well-known era was with Dave Holland, who was limited at best.

I used to see Scott play with Racer X all the time in LA. Great drummer and a great guy.

I dont like talking crap about other drummers but i think scott is better than the drummer they had back in 83. Scott is more relaxed and has more dynamics behind the kit

Went and saw them live very recently, gotta say he caught my eye the most throughout the show. His technique is so fluid and relaxed, it’s so smooth with little aggression, which is hard to find in a metal drummer, and even harder to pull off in a metal act. Never even knew his name before the show but he knocked my socks off, I’m not a big drum guy either I’m more into guitar lol

Could use a better microphone. Scott Travis is a fantastic drummer, I'm happy he joined Priest.
It's VERY DIFFICULT to get audio. It sounds exactly like this back there....exactly. All drums...almost no vocals....and Glenn's amp blasting (since he takes the backs off). The mics get overwhelmed.

it's difficult for a mic to not get overwhelmed from the
volume...mostly Glenn. We've used many different types. The last one
I did (it's not posted yet), it's Zoom recorded from the board...the
problem there, is there's no drums! The drummer doesn't have drums
going into his mix. The last attempt, I tried to mix the board with mics
onsite behind the kit and merge. It's THE RAGE, btw.
@ScottTravis what kind of sticks are you using now?
Very cool video! I'm guessing the sound is the mix that Scott hears during the show. I'd want the guitars mixed way down too. For one, they need to keep up with him as he sets the tempo. Two, it's Judas Priest and they play effing loud!

He currently uses Vater drumsticks. He initially used his own signature sticks by Vater in a silver prism finish with the Judas Priest logo on them, but now uses just the regular Rock model. @ScottTravis How about Zoom Q3 HD? They may not give as good video quality, but they use condensator microphones wich records sound very nicely.
