2002 Audi TT…is it still worth it after 20 years?

  • Welcome to this edition of Turn 5ive reviews cars! Today we were able to jump back in time and revisit a car that stole both of our hearts! Both Tyler and I have owned an Audi TT, Chris' was a 2001, and Tyler's was a 2002. The one that we were able to review today was an absolute blast to drive. The all wheel drive system is fantastic, the sound is great, and the modest power makes this package a joy to drive. You would have a tough time finding another sports car in this segment that is as put together as the Audi TT.
    If you are interested in buying this example, it is currently available at our master mechanic Mike's shop: Autobahn Sales & Service.

    Just traded my 08 VW R32 for a 2001 225 6sp, I love it so far. It is fantastic to drive. Tough to beat a wookie but it is earning my respect and affection the more I drive it. It is so smooth.

    Would love to see more TT content .

      @mancsblue same bro. There's just something about this car. I've put so much into it and it rewards me every time. I've loved cars, but never like I've loved this thing.

      mate don't get one with 20 inch wheels it'll do you back in on the highland backroads I swapped for a S3 but I might but a second car with 18 inch wheels in due time, maybe a 225 mk1, but make sure it has a service history and don't go for the cheapest

    I have a 2002 and LOVE IT! Put a good set of winter tires on it and it’s the best vehicle on the road in snow. It’ll plow through anything and hold the road! Now I need to put collector plates on it! ❤

    Ive owned 5 Porches at one time along with multiple exotics, there's something about this car that's just special, and makes you feel special! I gave a 1000 bucks for this example, no maintenance records, however I'll be caught up when finished. Very happy!❤

    • @Turn5ive
      @Turn5ive  2 года назад

      With the current market it is hard to say but anywhere between 5-10 thousand dollars would be likely. It depends on if the car is a manual and all wheel drive.

    Based on the year (2002), exterior (Silver or Misano Red), interior leather (red with the silver ext.; "silver" grey with the red ext.), and the the 18" wheels, you have the American LeMans Series -- ALMS edition there. 🎉 It is interesting that they never put an ALMS badge on it, although they did come with a decal you could put on it.

    I have this exact same TT ALMS edition. Great car, has never left me on side of the road. It's not for everyone, but sure is fun to drive and highway cruiser all day. It coasts in neutral for seemingly forever. Love this TT.

    Ive a 2005 TT mk1 i think they are great cars ive had mine 7yrs . mabey not quite Porsche class but a long way off Porsche price.. the best part is they are well made and dont rust.. yes they are a bit tight in the back seat . But how many times you carrying 4 adults. Mine has 100k miles on and i reckon it will go to 200k i didnt pay a huge amount for it .. £5500 gbpounds thats about $7000 dollars and that was 7 years ago so its gonna save me money. The longer i keep it. I reckon its worth half that now but im happy to keep it until i come into a big chumk of cash .then i fancy a Audi SQ5 at about £20k

    What's the city fuel economy on the quattro? Can this be daily driven without any issues?

    • @Turn5ive
      @Turn5ive  Год назад +1

      It can be driven everyday without issues as we both have done so and since it is turbocharged it is hard to say what city economy will be for you. It all comes down to how much you like to use the gas pedal!

    I test drove the Porsches in 2005. They handled worse than the TT, they shifted worse than the TT and they had almost enough cargo space under the hatch for briefcase, if it wasn’t full size.
    The 3.2L Quattro Sline with DSG I ended up getting wasn’t as fast, but it drove better, cornered better, looked better on the inside, had a better transmission, not only shifted perfectly every time, but would not allow me to go over redline nor lug the engine, protecting my drivetrain. AND it could drive like an automatic when I was stuck in traffic so I could drink my coffee and not have to be constantly working the clutch and stick.
    Add to that it had so much cargo space that I have literally brought home lumber and 10ft lengths of galvanized pipe in my TT.
    And 19 years later, it still drives great and has cost me less to own than any car I’ve ever had.
    Two years later Porsche put a 7 gear DSG in their car which made it better… but they still didn’t have much usable space.
    Nah- the TT was and is the perfect car. Well made. Affordable to own. Easy to maintain. Versatile. And just fast enough to be fun with greater stability on the road.

    Orange guy. Calm down and don't yell! Just explain what you think about the car. Let the guy in blue do the presentation. By now, everyone knows all about the features of these cars. What potential buys NEED to know is the reliability and maintenance requirements of the engine and transmission options.

    I'm looking at a 2001 TT, seems like the convertibles are more common than the coupe. Wondering if repairs are costly. Seems most don't have records on the timing belt and waterpump..??

    This is not an AWD car, Audi uses a Quattro system sending torque to the back wheel when necessary. 99% of the time it works as a front wheel car. But again, oit is not an AWD.
    But it seems you missed to mention that this car is a special edition called ALMS which has a much higher value on the market. Only 1,000 made only on 2002

      The Quattro used in the TT is the Haldex which is a FWD biased system unlike the Quattro Torsen which is a permanent awd system. But then again 95% of awd cars out there are also 2wd biased drives such as the BMW X-Drive, Mercedes 4matic, SUVs etc...
