Me: "Oh cool, these are some cool tricks for me to try"
Me, 5 minutes later: "I don't know how to do any of this lol"
You can start with simpler stuff first, these skills came with years of experience, there is definitly alot to learn from it though
@@yansculpts could you do more in detail about how to add shapes and detail them individually and then smooth them out to connect nicely to the other parts of the body such as the neck to the torso etc?
Pretty damn good, as always
Thanks Bro!
Please for the love of god give us a full character tutorial!!! You’re the only one who creates with such a high quality of style and workflow in blender!
@WolfmansBone thanks man, I’ve watched his gumroad tutorial, but a lot is missing from this entire workflow, like the retopology, rigging, posing, adding accessories, attaching the accessories to the rig etc. And nothing beats the complete workflow. I’ll watch the other guy thanks 🙏
@WolfmansBone thanks for the list, it's great to have a good starting point.
the downside of just searching RUclips is that there's a lot of reeeeally bad ones and it can be hard to know which is which until you know what it is that you were hoping the video would explain and at that point you've spent 6hrs watching junk.
@WolfmansBone Wow man thanks a lot for that thorough and detailed information, I'm more of a structured content person so I'm trying to tackle CGCookie learning flows which seems to be structured upon each other and have good teachers, but yeah I've farmed lots of grant abbit tuts as well, he's an amazing teacher! And I've scattered around youtube for the last decade I think and you're right we're truly gifted to live in such a wonderful time where everything is available and most of it is free, but with overflow of content It's a bit hard to find those hidden gems to not waste your time.
Good luck man! And thank you so much!
Thanks man. I only recently released the anatomy course, i focused on that first because anatomy is vital for character creation, stylized or otherwise. The sculpting for beginner course is focused on the sculpting tools in Blender, this is the reason there isn't things like topology or otherwise.
As for a full character course, it is definitely something i plan to create, just not right away, i am still refining and improving a lot of methods!
@@yansculpts thanks man! You are one of your kind! Keep it up!
My dude, just wanna say you brought the whole concept of 3D Modeling/Sculpting in my mind from an intangible impossibility to a skill that I find really fun with your channel. Been in love with 3D art ever since Toy Story and Reboot, it's awesome to be able to do it myself!
Glad to hear that!
Just bought the anatomy course. I'm on my journey to reach 157% coolness. Noice.
Noice! Hope you enjoy it ;)
Where do I get this?
DarkFlameSquirrel - I'm about halfway through the anatomy course. Definitely helping my sculpting ;)
Which anatomy course should one buy for sculpting?
My gumroad, released one recently
I could seriously just watch you do these all week long
thanks xD!
I see Metroid content, I freaking click!
#MetroidPrime4
Hey Bunni
@@theguardiancustode3962 Heyo!
Man I'm in love with those 5 minutes videos keep up the good work
Thanks!!
I like this type of workflow, keep it up man, post this type of videos regularly.
Will do and thanks!
Thanks Yan, Current watching your Anatomy videoes, it is awesome, I am enjoying it, thanks.
WOW! I love Samus and the Metroid series. This was an awesome video, despite me never using Blender before.
These sculpts are really good! Keep it up man!
Will do thanks!
The title made me momentarily furious that you were able to sculpt a Samus so good in 5 minutes.
Then I realized it meant the video was 5 minutes.
haha if it took me 5 mins to sculpt one character i wouldve done all my fav characters by now!
You are the best modeler I ever seen working. Things seems easy when you do. Amazing work and incredible way of explain !!!
Thanks 👍
Started sculpting not long ago and the biggest hurdle so far seems to be keeping the topology clean. Watching those helps a lot when one gets more acostumed to software itself
Yeah it can be tricky!
So happy that find this channel! Sculpturing is something new for me so thank you for tutorials! I learned how to create hair!)))
cheers!
Beautiful! Love it
Thanks :)
I love your work Yan, it would be awesome if you make a video explaining the retopology part of your sculpts and when to use it
It feels so easy when looking at your work even tho it's obviously result of weeks and month of hardwork!
Been watching these a lot as I have been relearning how to sculpt. Was in Zbrush around 2008, did quite a lot of sculpting and hardbody modeling in maya. When I got into the industry I sort of slipped into lighting/comp, Look-Dev and pipeline; my skillset has evolved around that to this day. So I've been trying to get myself back into sculpting while learning blender. While I know the most important rules of "reference, reference, reference!", operating the tools has been the biggest hurdle; making things shape the way I want them to has been far more difficult than knowing what its supposed to look like for me thus far.
I'll keep going through your video's and practicing, hopefully I can catch back up.
Never too late, it takes a lot of effort and stubbornness, never give up mentality :)
One question: How much time take to you to sculpt everything?
I actually thinked it was 5 mn, so I scared out 😅
Haha, 8 to 10 hours on my latest sculpts
@@MrKnaives Because it's a five minute video.
This is incredibly good! Well done!
This is a awesome work. Im far away from such models. I have to practice more
Thank you very much!
How to Draw an Owl meme)))
Thanks Yan for your Blender tutorials.
You're welcome 😊
WOW! you are as skilled at this as I am remembering how to walk
Me with only mouse and mid end laptop: started looking for blender tutorials on youtube,
"wow this guy made great tutorials"
"He can create a character in just 5 minutes"
"Oh shit, he's too godlike for my mouse and my potato laptop"
If it really takes just 5 minutes it wouldn't be fun xD🤣
Daaaaaaannnng that looks sick!
Thanks xD
I hadn't considered using blender for sculpting. That sounds promising.
Just finished the metroid fusion i love this sculture
It seems to be so easy when he is doing it, OMG, it's so amazingly cool
Man that was amazing and you are a very talented artist.
Very good as always :)
Thanks xD
This is getting me hyped for Metroid prime 4 surprisingly...
MARVELOUS! ALWAYS FANTASTIC! NOICE!
I admit I watch most of your vids to hear you say noice😂😂
Great vid Yan. I was look forward to this one
Thanks x)
She looks really cool! i really want to learn how to do this.
Thanks, step by step you can!
I am just working on the first 25 sec of this video. 🙌
I always missing up the armature :( seeing you applying the armature it in this video so nice and smooth 😁
Thanks! 😊
throughout the entire video, i was just thinking "okay yeah but how does he just know how to do that?" and "what that doesn't work like that, not when i tried it"
THANKS FOR THIS !!!
I like that the crease under her eyes makes her look kinda tired, because I'm sure she is
looks simple 👍 fantastic
Thanks :)
UAU, you make it look so easy! Boy do I have a long way to go!
Great work
Thanks xD
you make it look so easy
Gets easier as you practice!
I don't think that Varia suit is very... uh...
**Varia...**
Joke's aside, that is an impressive job you did! Nice work!
✨Noice!✨ *subbed*
Soo cool
Thanks!
Did you make retopology?
Amazing!
Thank you! Cheers!
With this video she reached 200% coolness
Very awesome
Thank you! Cheers!
Am I the first one to view this beautiful art ? 👍
You got a new subscribe
I love it when you say " Noice "
So to make good sculptures, you just got to increase coolness beyond 100% wow that's so simple, that's all I had to do!
you are great men !
This is a nice piece of work. Love the model. My only criticism of it is the arm cannon. It looks a bit strange to me but that be because I’ve been replaying the Prime trilogy. The issue I have with it is that it doesn’t really blend into the main model itself as it is more cylindrical and not as spherical or as curved as the rest of the model. That and the blending at the end towards where her forearm meets the cannon. I might have suggested a divot or in the spot where the cannon is meeting the rest of her to make it look as though the cannon is given a full range of motion.
Thanks for the critique :)
New fan here 👏
Noice. This video has one hundred and one hundred percent coolness
Very nice! How is your topology so smooth?do you have a modifier for the spheres or you smooth them out?also that curve control for the hair is genius..will check your courses.
you make it look so simple!!!
Dude your work is amazing holy shit
Thank you!
This is cool and very complex.
Still love the prime games Varia Suit, that thing was kickass and still is!
Very nice
Thanks
Hmmm....NOICEEE!!!
I feel 157% more cool for having watched this video.
I feel 157% cooler reading your comment
Dang this is awesome!
thanks :)
This is so Awesome. Is it possible to animate sculpts or will there be deformations?
As a beginner, this is very inspiring.
Power Suit is infinitive coolness ;)
BEAUTIFUL!!!
nice video man! Can I ask u a little question? What do u use to have your XP-Pen tablet up?
It comes with a stand
This look so cool i would love to sculpt but i know i'm Just good in hard surface but It's beautifull too see that amazing work being done by such skilfull person
Amazing! Hope I can get this good someday!
Best of luck! and thanks!
so cool I love it, I have opne question, how do you manahe to do the face diferent in all of your characters? is something with I struggle a lot, you use the same step every time but all of them seem individual, I don´t know, perhaps I have to learn more about proportions or something like that
mm, i know my anatomy that helps, i also try to go for different methods, or force myself to go for a different style if that is what i am looking for. Also starting from scratch helps
God that's so cool!
Hi sir. How about Sculpting yourself?
But.. Samus :( Dono not sure it would be fun tbh
@@yansculpts haha. I think you should give it a Try. It definitely would be Helpful for lot of beginners to sculpt theirselves when you sculpt yourself. It would be fun.
Most usefull chara modelling tutorial ever!
Really satisfying to watch, it give a lot of motivation. PS: why don't you use Dyntopo ?
No particular reason it works too
Amazing model as always!
I've been wondering how did you get blender to display colors in solid shading mode?
Add color in materials for viewport
@@yansculpts thank you!
I have a question: For the keymap (I mean shortcuts) do you use the blender setup or used the industry standard? or that is a very customized and personalized one? which one do you use? (I think it plays a big role in blender become more intuitive
and more easy and faster to use.)
Just to let people/freelancers know there is a huge demand for 3D character models for people who play VRchat. People pay $20-70 USD per model usually on patreon or gumroad. You can find a lot of information on it on discord servers. The only thing is most of the time people want anime style models
Fn love how u say nnnice lol
Magical hand!!!
I think it takes several years to get thah experience?
Probably, will differ from one person to another and how much effort you put into it
@@yansculpts thanks for the answer)
I'm getting pleasure when i see your artwork)
Really noice, one day I want to achieve this level ^^
Can you suggest me some exercises for improve my sculpts? For now I want to try to create an head nearly each day, an half our or a little bit more of sculpting without saving the model, like suggested by you.
I just wish you did a full length tutorial one day, I’d love to learn how to be able to make sculpts.
> these sculpts take hours, not something i would do step by step here sadly. I do videos teaching different parts, and i got courses for longer content
I love the work and really like going to your artstation to see just how much detail I might've missed in the video. Do you ever stream making these or anything? I think it'd be fun to watch the process or a longer timelapse.
Thanks! I don't stream though
Me: adds subdivided cube for shoulders and arms.
Blender: smoothing in the weirdest angles possible.
Also me:
Rigging body and making sure all transforms are applied.
Riggify:
I'll snap your rig far away from the body.
Awesome work 👏👏👏
Don't you do retopology?
The way i modeled the eyebrows and armor is basically retopology
I love the boost in your art from queen's gambit to present.
And I also see you're using a screen tablet. I am curious to know if you feel the difference in your posture and your craft if you compare it with tradational tablets.
Cheers 😀
I've been more regularly sculpting it helps! Thanks :)
Been using screen tablets for a long time, it is a different posture considering how i record the process but no pain for now with how i do it. I stretch too!
This is what I got from this video:
1) Lots of Spheres
2)Coolness
3)Noice
4)Her neck movement
5) I must learn to get my art skills to 157% cooliness.
Noice👌
Madlad, you picked up the most important points!
@@yansculpts I'mma draw Mechs to 157% Coolness and take what I'm going to start learning from you and implement it.
Brilliant!
thanks :D
epic
I enjoy all your videos and they are very helpful, but I wish I could see the polycount throughout since I struggle with that part, I think I tend increase the resolution at the wrong pace.
Edit: Just bought the latest sculpt course you got and hope it can help me in the areas I struggle.
General rule is to try to stay low and increase only when necessary but you can break that rule if you are comfortable with sculpting. Got the anatomy course? Hope you love it!!
is it an order of steps i must learn for blender or im gonna learn all of them while im trying to learn sculpting ? ps. your videos are fire !
If u mean sculpting then you learn as you go, u can look for videos online on the subject, I have some on my channel. For art though it isn't just about learning how to use the tool
@@yansculpts ohh yeah , get it ! also i starded sculpting more constantly because of your videos ! maybe some day im gonna be on your level ! thanks again for the answer !
157% Coolness? Those are some rookie numbers.
I am but only a rookie
Love her face
I want to say coolness 200%!!
Can you share the polycount of this sculpt and your pc hardware? I never used Blender for sculpt due to performance.
Thanks you!
let's give him 1000 likes so we can give her 1000 percent coolness 😉
Let's! thanks :D
