Let’s talk about urinary retention and cover a few natural things you can do about it.
Urinary retention is a situation where your bladder is not releasing all of your urine. Urine that’s retained can back up in your system and potentially lead to a lot of complications.
    These complications can include:
    • Edema
    • A loss of protein in your urine
    • A build-up of ammonia (strong ammonia-smelling urine)
    • Sugar in your urine
    • Loss of muscle
    • Fatigue
    • Itchiness
    • Brain fog
Diabetes is a big cause of urinary retention. High levels of sugar damage the capillaries of the kidneys and can lead to permanent damage. On top of that, a person with diabetes typically consumes a high-carb diet, which can cause fluid retention.
    Common causes of urinary retention:
    • Diabetes
    • A high-carb diet
    • Age
    • An enlarged prostate
    • Fibroids
    • Excess sodium consumption with low potassium consumption
    • A problem with the autonomic nervous system
    • Pregnancy
    • Kidney stones
    • Bladder stones
    • Certain medications
What to do for urinary retention:
    1. Cut out carbs and sugar
    2. Increase your fluids (3 liters in the first part of the day)
    3. Consume herbal diuretic alternatives (dandelion greens and watercress)
    4. Consume more potassium foods or an electrolyte powder (at least seven cups of vegetables per day)
    5. Consume a moderate amount of protein (3-6 oz per meal)

My husband wasn’t able to urinate all of a sudden and had to be catheterized for several weeks (which he hated). At first it was thought that he had an enlarged prostate (he’s 75). Then a colonoscopy found that he had severe diverticulosis, and his constipated colon was pushing on his prostate which in turn was closing off his urethra. Now he is on Metamusil for constipation which has helped tremendously. We basically had to figure out the constipation part ourselves as the urologist was clueless about anything not part of the urinary system and prostate.

Dr. Berg ready for this story? I grew up with dr's loading me up with antibiotics which soon after using stopped working. Not knowing anything, began trying to figure out why I was constantly getting UTI's. It wasn't until an ultrasound while pregnant in my 20's, finding out i have an ectopic kidney, but I was told everything is normal and you can go about yoyr business. In turn I asked, well, I keep getting UTI's, along with YI's so what do I do to prevent them? All I was told was to just keep doing what I'm doing....so I told my husband, we are on our own and I will need to find a solution one was probiotics. Here I am today after following you for several years, you have been a great inspiration to me. Thank you for this information and being you.

He is not kidding about the quality of his electrolyte powder! I take it along with the nutritional yeast and the organic wheatgrass juice powder absolutely excellent products! I do HVAC work and took the electrolyte powder that morning and could stay in a hot attic for over 2 hours and work I have never been able to do that! Then after working all day for hours like that of course I depleted a lot of my electrolytes came home and took some more of the electrolyte powder and all the cramping that I had from losing my electrolytes literally went away in minutes! This man is saving lives and changing lives keep up the great work sir!

Not sure if it would be TMI for some folks, but an explanation of the sodium/ potassium pump of cells and onconic pressure effect on kidneys would have helped people understand this concept better. That's what I was thinking about while watching, anyway.
This was an interesting video. As an RN, I've been attempting to help a friend with the whole keto thing and her diabetes. She is doing phenomenal and has been able to get off insulin, but her lab work showed protein in urine. I was trying to come up with an explanation for her. This video is somewhat helpful.

I kid you not…. My grandmother who was born in 1920 told me that you NEVER empty your entire bladder. She would ALWAYS say (no exaggeration) don’t empty your bladder all the way. Leave a little bit to kill off bad bacteria. I have no idea where she got that idea. But she had edema plus she had lymphdema (spelling?) her entire arm was 10X the size of her other arm. Scary stuff. Just to clarify- I do not and have never taken my grandmother’s advice

TFS 👍

Hi Cindy, do check out Dr. Brownsteins vids on Iodine ( Lugols 2%) & Dr. Ken Berrys videos. All quite short. When unwell long vids are too difficult. I'm 64 now & believe me we need iodine. The benefits have been outstanding. Its amazing stuff, I wish l knew all this yrs ago. But better late than never. Yrs of illness & incorrect diagnosis + 💊 almost killed me & led to stroke, heart attack, dementia symptoms, & housebound for almost 2 yrs...In my desperation I took t RUclips & found Dr. William Davis book 'Wheat Belly' & his short vids. (Rec by commentor) Following his protocol for overall health, my heart, liver, Thyroid & fibromyalgia, & other side effects from meds, my health has turned around. Also listening to Dr. Berg, & Dr. Ken Berry esp on supplementation with D3+ k2, B vits,Vit C, Zinc, & magnesium, selenium. It's taken time but l'm the best lve been in yrs. I'm thankful also to God who strengthened me when l was so weak, every step of the way. God bless you Cindy as He has blessed me & more. I also encouraged myself reading the Scriptures especiallyPsalms & Proverbs & having faith in His promises. I'll 🙏 for your health & that you find these suggestions as helpful & beneficial as they were to me. The amount of help from the many generous people that left such helpful comments, suggestions & leads, no price can be put on. Many thanks to one & all.

That is exactly what happened to me after covid. Also, I have lost consciousness three times. It's been a week since I started getting 4700 mg of potassium daily, and it works perfectly 👌🏻. Btw I spent six months with doctors who couldn't find any problem 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ they said it was epilepsy syndrome, but at the same time, all the tests said that my brain was clean and healthy. I can't believe how easy the actual solution is 😳. I don’t have enough imagination to express my gratitude; it’s just huge 🙏🏻

I don't have that ammonia odor, but I do have other symptoms of a toxic liver and kidneys, such as edema, peripheral neuropathy, frequent urination, and moderate (but regular) foam in the urine. I'm obese, on the wrong side of 50, and am well on my my way to cutting out carbs and sugars, but I'm even farther along in IF, in that I'm very good at sticking to OMAD. My one meal is dinner, and I have two questions: *1) Given that I'm on OMAD, I cannot eat more than 5 cups of vegetables in that meal (organic cruciferous leafy greens with EV olive oil and organic goat cheese and nutritional yeast flakes). It's a 5 ounce bag of the greens--is that sufficient? Because I really can't do more in a sitting. 2) Given that Dr. Berg says to consume 3-6 ounces of meat *per meal*, what does that mean to a person like me on OMAD? Can I have more, given it is my only meal of the day? I hope so, because OMAD is only really easy for me if I can eat a lb. of wild caught salmon, or a lb. of grass-fed hamburger (cheese, but no buns, no sugary condiments like ketchup), or a 16 oz. grass-fed steak, or a lb. of wild caught cod, or a lb. of wild caught sardines heated in EV olive oil and ghee. Am I okay eating a lb. of meat in my lone meal per day?*
ps~I should probably add that my daily dessert is about a 1/3 cup of organic shelled pumpkin seeds.

I had tests done and doctor advised to eat green veg more and cut on fat. I suspect also i need to take less protein. But the doctor said protein is important for me. She advised to take more water, greens, less fat and eat with large pauses in several hours. Like if i wake up at 7am next meal must be at 2pm and the last meal at 8pm. She also said intermittent fasting will create other issues if i do it

    • @experimenthealthyketo83

Intermittent fasting is still a new subject that most doctors have not had time to study and experiment with yet. You may want to consult a doctor who has experience with it.

I think the urine strips :) I would recommend the "Combur test strips". There are different types available with 5, 9 or 10 indicators. If you just want to know if there is an infection in your bladder, the "Combur 5" is enough. But if you wanna know if there's a problem with your liver or your diabetes, buy the one with 10 Indicators
