Nice vid. Haven't heard of bunch. I wonder if it's similar do what shortcuts can do. I have a "Time to Write" shortcut that open all the apps I need and starts playing the songs I like, but I've never tried changing wallpapers or organising the apps that just opened. I'll have a look at this bunch. Thanks.
It's a peculiar thing, but I never thought of using Shortcuts to do this but you're far from the only person who does. I do have some Keyboard Maestro actions that do some of it, but somehow I got Bunch before I really considered all we can do.
After subscribing the other day, I was perusing your videos to find the next one I would watch. I chose this one because I figured a bunch of essential writer's apps for the Mac would be right up my alley. Realizing my misunderstanding of the title, I almost clicked away. Great Scott! This is EXACTLY the app I have wanted practically since the appearance of the MultiFinder! Now I'll have to watch your Keyboard Maestro video-I've shied away from it because it seems too complex. Quick question: is your writing book really not available in ePub format? Also, here's a tip you've probably already figured out-ChatGPT can create Automator workflows! Automator and Applescript have been too complex for me to play with (my typical conundrum: I need a way to do something quickly, but I don't have the time to learn how to do it), but ChatGPT whipped up a workflow to batch convert HEIC images into JPGs.
I am so pleased you like Bunch, thank you for telling me. And I thought my book was on Amazon in a Kindle format; has it been done in some peculiar format and not ePub? MultiFinder, though: I think you've just carbon-dated both of us.
@@WilliamGallagher Well, I've made progress in my search, but it's still a bit confusing. BTW, by ePub I just meant digital book, sorry to confuse things. On the U.S. Amazon site, it seems a simple search only turns up the softcover. Normally that page would also show the Kindle availability. But a search specifically in the Kindle category finds the right title (and I imagine what is an earlier version, "Filling the Blank Screen."
Wait. WHAT!!!! It’s like workstation setups? Or the equivalent of workspace setups in Adobe (I also to design). Almost like grouped partitions if you will?!!!!???!!! I. AM. SHOOK!!!!!!!!!
I also have adhd and autism so forced shifts on screen is EXACTLY what my spicy brain needs!!! And even at work when shifting from writing to marketing to designing to developing. GAME CHANGER!!!!!
It looks like there is a lot of overlap between Bunch and Keyboard Maestro, so is there an advantage of one over the other? Can Bunch get to features Keyboard Maestro can't? Or is Bunch easier to configure/debug in certain circumstances? Your example of changing Focus mode, seems more Bunch centric. Obviously you have both so, what sort of tasks are better for Bunch?
Doubtlessly you could use Keyboard Maestro to do all of the opening apps, changing wallpapers and so on. I think it's telling that for all I use and adore KM, I never used it for that. Bunch's simplicity tempted me into trying it and that was that, I was in. Although I do use it to call a KM script to do some bits with arranging windows.
@@WilliamGallagher How funny, I went the opposite route. I used Keyboard Maestro to create workspaces. I had macros to launch and quit apps based on the project I was working on. Then I added macros to close apps while I was screen sharing so they wouldn't ding or pop up notifications. Even that little bit convenience was a huge timesaver. I'll have to see what sort of magic Bunch can pull off.
Excellent, William. Never heard it before, but I have downloaded it now. It’s Bert Terpstra I see-a guarantee of quality if ever there was one.
Sorry, should be Brett, not Bert!
He is remarkable, isn't he?
I love to see how you work. I do note how often you say you fiddle, but I am certain it is not a distraction.
I'm going to be self-conscious about that now. For at least an hour.
@@WilliamGallagher Tell me if you fiddled while it rained today. Tell me about the rain.
It apparently rained. But I didn’t look away from my Mac. I have let you down.

Plain text configuration - nice! I'll have to check that out.
Aha! You're a plain-speaking guy, I see.

@grkongjie phew. Thanks for telling me.
Quite useful app. Thanks for the recommendation.
Thank you, that's very good of you to say.

For multipotentialites this will change the world.
I'm so pleased I got to be the one to show you Bunch. Do let me know how it is for you after you've used it for a while.
Another great video. Just curious, when you activate a selected bunch, does it remember the last screen size and position?
Thanks. Bunch doesn't do any window management at all, but if an app and the Mac remember where it last was, that's where it will open again.
Great tip as usual, thank you!
Thanks.

Hey, loved your contents, are you also in audea?
Thank you. No, isn't Audea just for audio? I haven't looked into it. Hadn't even heard of it until you said this so thank you for that, too.
