Your mic audio was very low during the intro to the video. Good list! My own experiences put me in general agreement with these recommendations. As you said, a number of things on your list are unlocked by logging in a character while the account is VIP. Go VIP for one month then create and log in as many characters on as many servers as your time and patience allow. Those characters will get all their trait slots unlocked, get swift travel outside the starting zones unlocked (and logging in a toon while the account is VIP is the only way to do this permanently), gold cap removed, +30 inventory bag slots, and they can even can get riding skill free just by doing a quest if the character is Level 20 or higher while the account is VIP. While VIP you get a base of 7 character slots per server. And when the month is over your account drops down to Premium, it will never fall all the way down to F2P again - Premium has a base of 5 character slots per server among other benefits. Even leaving riding skill aside, those unlocks from a single quick login during a single paid month of VIP (which any other game would call "a subscription") make a month of VIP one of the best values in the game when considering things you can buy for real world money while doing your best to spend as little as possible. And if you don't own the non-expansion content already from one of the giveaway codes of the last two years, a VIP subscription includes "rent" of all that non-expansion content. Yes, that means a monthly sub to be able to keep playing in that content but it's a good value at $10/month when paid 3 months at a time (3 months for $30 vs $15 for a month-by-month subscription). Not to mention the 500LP per month and 5x faster crafting speeds and access to the "Legendary Servers" and other nice things that go along with being VIP. One other real money purchase I recommend for new players is the Samwise Gamgee Starter Pack. It's available only at retailers such as Amazon. For $10 US it includes: -Basic riding skill and a mount for every character, which can be used as soon as the character gets out of the intro zone and into the full shared game world (roughly Level 5) -15 additional inventory bag slots for every character -Removal of the gold cap for every character -If the account is F2P, the account status is raised to Premium because this is a real-world-money purchase Getting riding skill and a mount right out of the starting gate is a huge convenience and time-saver, if you play more than one character or play on multiple servers this is more than worth the price of this starter pack all by itself.
best thing to buy is subscribtion 1 time it will give u 5 character slots and permanently unlock gold cap and riding skills on character u make when sub is active when it runs out u will keep those unlocks, so make 5 characters and at least log in with them to get those unlocks
For newbs, it changed alot since this video, you can get most of this stuff for free. Also, you as play up to level 90ish before you may want to buy a expansion or sub.
PPL That Wan to play this game for free only really need to get at start : (Gold cap remove) and (Riding trait). Join a Kinship(Guild) After learning the game and doing 1st instances and Deeds you start to get alot of Lotro Point. Character Look for SALES % before you use your LP . Reputation in areas gives you ability to buy a Return map like Milestone. So each zone you can get a teleport there. Buy a House (gives you teleport and you have a Storage there too. you can Teleport form House area to main Citys) If you do Deeds and want to delete a character to start over use storage form House to leave valuable items. (Vault keeper can sell you bags of Gold that you can store in House for main Character. Hope that helps new players that want to be Free in the game.
Holy shit, this game. Every single time I try to start playing it, I just can't force myself - I get discouraged even on the character creation page. Whenever I see all the classes, races, quests, bag slots and even some character power slots need to be purchased with microtransactions I give up on it. They lose so many players because of the greed it's insane :( It's a shame, I would love to play but it's just too much hassle. With WoW I just pay the monthly sub and for the new expansion and I get it all, here... I need to buy like 80% of the content one by one. Immersion doesn't exist in this game because of the huge paywall - and you are getting reminded of it all the time, wherever you move basically.
I understand that entirely. I heard that they have had internal talks about changing the pay structure. First impressions are not good as currently constituted
You pay twice as much for a yearly sub in WOW and all fun things are locked behind a possible 1% raid drop. I left after 12 years of WOW as I couldn't keep up the Raiding schedule for just a chance of fun things. Here you have an option to grind out free things. Allods Online was pay to win and I don't miss that.
I believe you have somethings wrong, mind you I have not played Lotro for the past 3 years so I have no idea if any of these were changed. As I recall, you can earn the riding skill around lvl 15 after completing a quest, you don't need to buy it. Milestones cooldown is not necessary, it is convenient and nothing else (there are plenty other ways to travel fast). More Milestones are not needed, you earn many locations from reputation, deeds, or class quests for Hunter/Warden. Crafting guild is nice but again not a must, you can actually sell your hides/ore/wood (auction house/direct trading) and pay someone to craft what you need. In most cases players will do it for free as long as you bring them the materials.
This shows how high of a paywall/f2p grindwall LOTRO has, it's kinda disheartening when compared to other games like FFXIV which give everything at a pretty much one time roughly $60 cost. I understand though, LOTRO has a far smaller player base so it has to do this
It’s super expensive. I hear that there is talk of reworking the pay structure. It’s desperately needed because the lotro store turns off more than it’s share of would be players.
@@AdventureGameHotspot Mhm love the game to death, but am taking a break until the necessary changes. Especially with the pandemic it can be tough for many of us to take the leap and spend so much. Amazing video though man appreciate it
yea i just started and already thinking about quitting again because of that. For new players its so much. I even got VIP which i hoped would give me everything i need, like eso plus. But theres still so much to buy. even stuff thats normal in other games like shared storage, or really bad, riding skill without vip. And its not even just expansion which other games have too, but also Quest packs....u have to pay for quests (again not with vip).
This is insane; I'm going back to ESO + monthly subscription, it not cheap but I get everything I need to play comfortably and competitive at once and don't have to constantly analyze which purchase is worth the money.
Yea it's absolutely ridiculous what they expect people to pay. In other mmos if you pay a monthly subscription you're good to go through all content without barriers everywhere. LOTRO needs a new publisher not these greedy SSG dudes.
Lifetime account here for the last 10 years and I never been past level 30. I just can't stick to this game but keep coming back. Until I remember the grind. I can pay to get past it with my nearly unlimited amount of lotro points accumulated over the last 10 years, but then it's just boring. 1st world problems. Also all the friends I tried to get into this game hoping it will help me stick with it, quickly left. Because of the limited chat bullcrap.
I've been playing this game for 10 years now, I'm never getting tired of it. I have two accounts ; for one I pay a VIP subscription, but not for the other one. And to be honest, it's pretty easy to progress trough the game without paying anything but the expansions. ^^ Most of the ''must have'' items can be bought in the store, using lotro points, and if you don't have them yet, it's still possible to play without them For example, you can get the riding skill at level 20, by doing a quest. As for money, in the last update, the gold cap has been removed even for all players. :) And you can easily stock money in your storage, by buying coin bags. (these are items that you can buy and sell for the same price.) Let's remember that LOTRO is a free to play game, so the only money it receives comes from the small things the players buy in game, the expansions, and the VIP subscriptions. Without these, the game would end up closing, like so many other 10+ years old mmorpgs.
@@AdventureGameHotspot I've had a lot of fun with the one for Minas Morgul ! it was amazing to discover the Mordor Besieged and to finally complete the Black Book storyline. But I think that my favorite will always be the Riders of Rohan. I made so many great memories, exploring Rohan with my war steed and the whole story and the quests of this area are just amazing. Also I'm not done with Gundabad yet, but I'm really enjoying it so far. ^^
