Robert De Niro's eyes spoke volumes in a lot of scenes, the blue eyes were piercing and the emotion without words from the looks, Robert De Niro played one of his best roles here.
He's one of a few actors that can look into the camera and get away with it.
Case in point, When they are eating cereal.
Dont forget the fantastic scene where he looked like an 85 y old gangsta wannabe beating up the grocery guy with the sound effects not being synced properly.

I'll put it on the Rushmore of mafia movies. Storytelling was fantastic, and I'm so disappointed that humans can't live forever, because Scorsese is a storytelling god. 10/10.

J Greg they just never got together on a project they tried a few times but it just didn’t work out.

Al Pacino should win supporting actor
This movie is damn near perfect storytelling. The acting is beautiful, and the plotline is grips you tight. Every actor is amazing - from the young girl that plays Peggy, to Father Morris near the end of the film. Absolutely invredible film.

Pesci really surprised me in this one. I'm a huge fan of Deniro and Pacino, but man, Pesci in this movie, he communicates so much with his eyes, from appreciation to death sentences.

Scorsese is a genuis, Al Pacino dropped a bomb with this film, everyone did. The last big swing with Pacino, Pesci, and De niro absolutely jaw dropping film here.

Every aspect of this film is amazing. There is so much subtely throughout the movie, and the heavy implications comes through effectively.

I'm almost obsessed with Scorsese movies! Especially when DeNiro and Pesci are playing in it. Bonus: Al Pacino. This is another great classic film and I have no reservations about it at all.
Too bad in total B.S. and Di N era fell for the story hook, line and sinker. But Sheerin did not kill Hoffa and he was not incinerated either.
@Lou Contino yeah, and the movie never pretends it's based on true events, it is the story that Frank Sheetan told to a writer and the way the movie is presented you can argue that probably Frank is so old that he's making stuff up.

It is a literal slap in the face that this film didn't get into every single movie theatre. This film is a true masterpiece that not alot have seen unless you have Netflix which thank God Netflix invested in both old and new Hollywood
I love this film. I can watch it again and again and again. The emotion, especially De Niro's, is pure drama.

I love Martin Scorsese's films and listening to him talking about them.
Robert De Niro performance in this movie is really incredible. It's so underrated because he's the lead but gives Al and Joe all the room to shine every time he shares a scene with them. He's the Magic Johnson of the Irishman.

Awesome 2019, we had the joker, Irishman and El Camino

El Camino was meh. Joker was good for what it was. The Irishman,Marrige Story, and Parasite were great.
What I did LOVE about this film was the scorsese didn't spoon feed audiences the answers to everything, which is a very annoying thing Hollywood likes to do. Explain explain explain in every scene & at the end like we're all fools. I noticed that & it was powerful & helped elevate the movie for me.
That's because Scorsese is an actual artist, not many Hollywood directors would come up with dark and complex character study as Taxi Driver.

If this movie was made a year earlier they would win in every category
jeffrey dahmere I don’t care, I was just happy to see that they all still have it. They seemed to have been phoning it in and it was kind of sad these past few years, De Niro had a strong year in 2019 with both this and Joker.
This was an strong and emotional performance from De Niro, he deserved at least a nomination for his work. But Pesci was utterly robbed by the Academy.

I had just received this on DVD last month and I never ever get tired of watching this phenomenal film. De Niro, Pacino, and Pesci together directed by Martin Scorsese? What more can anyone ask for?

The Irishman and goodfellas hands down two of the best movies ever made. Not just because of the mob aspect but the story telling and the incredible acting
Much respect and admiration. They are the type of people who do not half ass things but instead do things and do them well, so well that they end up being masterpieces. Robert De Niro and Marty Scorsese have taught me how to enjoy and appreciate film because when you consider the little bits in every single scene, you begin to understand the work that goes behind and the process of it all. The amount of work that every single person helped create is unimaginable. Grateful for seeing these remarkable actors working ALL together finally.

The Irishman reminded me of some of my favourite novels in the sense that I enjoyed the experience but it truly wasn't until I completed it and let it steep in my brain that I appreciated the magnitude and genius of it.
I loved the characters. These actors work so well together but they really knocked it out of the park on this movie. Pesci as the quiet in control character was fantastic!

Martin Scorsese at his best, which is why he is a constant staple, of ingenious film making. I have so much admiration for him, along with the incomparable acting skills of AL, Robert, Joe and Harvey. Legends.

I watched this movie 3 times! First without subtitle, 2nd time with my language subtitle and finally with english subtitle😝 and in any time I watched this great film i cried at the final part where frank was at room and said don't close the door let it's be open😭😭😭 and right at this moment I felt im frank with a heavy load of sin and looking forward and thinking what's gonna happen to me after death..I will have a long judgement day..
Yeah, that's a sad, heavy scene.
imo....it was not about being afraid of judgement day...its about being lonely at the tail end of your life...having no body to talk...having nobody to connect...having nobody to sahre your feelings...remember before the final scene... frank was talking to some nurse...non stop...he was so eager to talk to her..but she shushes him by saying you need rest and walks away from him...even scorsese said that this movie is all about loneliness at the end of your life...

It's not just film, it's a celebration of many great gangster films, kind of homage.
We just don't get movies like this anymore. Even though it's made through modern technology, its got a certain style and finesse that you can't find anymore in too many productions. Definitely one of Scorsese's best and the culmination of an entire lifetime of filmmaking.

I'm so sad it didn't come to theaters in our country. This movie grew on me, made me think of life, what have I done. Nothing matters at the end. You'll be left to reap what you sow. Like how Frank felt silly, stupid that they would dig their own grave. But he didn't realize he was also doing the same. Marty is one of the kind. It's so sad, this will be the last of its kind.
Please, please, PLEASE release this film on bluray. I'll put it next to Goodfellas and Casino

Poor Peggy, got all he scenes and lines cut except 1 “Why. Why haven’t you called.”
I kinda of miss that too because I like Anna Paquin, but having Peggy's lines cut short after she finds out about Hoffa's death was a right call. It hurts how Frank is never able to speak to her after the fact and adds to the guilt of killing Jimmy Hoffa who Peggy really liked.

I don’t care what critics or so called historians have to say with regards to validity of painting houses . All I know is that this movie is historical in its own right. I advise y’all to watch this movie at least 6-8 times. Then one realizes the incredible performances of the magnificent trio and how even the spaces are thrilling and dramatic. Wonderful direction. That movie was really impressive. The acting was impeccable, I watched it twice so far. I could not believe the actors would 'look' their parts, dumb me. The direction and production is premier, it really is.

Hollywood sucks, Martin tried to make this movie for yeara and not a single studio wanted to backed the production.

I feel this is the capstone on the amazing careers of De Niro, Pacino, Pesci, Keitel, and Scorsese. lastly Rip to Paul Herman, a working stiff who was never a lead but one heck of a supporting actor.

Al Pacino best supporting actor
I really enjoyed this film. Great performances. A historic cast. I think Pesci was flawless. I'm a big fan of Stephen Graham after his role as Al Capone in Boardwalk Empire. Deniro is one of my favorite actors (even if I don't agree with his political views) and he really did a great job at becoming Frank Sheeran. Theres alot of emotion in this film and by the time Jimmy Hoffa is killed, you feel empty inside which was the point. Frank dies feeling empty and alone. Pacino is larger than life as Hoffa. Lastly, I think the soundtrack is fantastic. Thank you Marty for this and all the classics you've given us over the years!

4:24 the best filmmaker ever with the three best actors ever (Harvey Keitel is missing, I wished he had a bit more screentime but who am I to critisise anything about this movie). It would be a honor to just sit next to these legends and just listen to them.

That table must have so many stories they could tell over the course of there brilliant careers that would last a lifetime. I finally got what i wanted after so many years which was the trio together in a movie and this did not dissapoint
