    This summer I will build one with a 26 inch barrel and after this I believe a 1:8 twist. Soley shooting 75gr, 77gr, and 88 gr bullets.

    Excellent discussion 👍. I have been thinking about building a 22 Creed I would probably use your twist rate of 8 because I'm not a match shooter I would be using it for hunting. With the 8 good I still go as low as 55? I would probably be using the 75 to 80 range but I've also heard that the 60 grain partition nosler is a great deer bullet and the 55 barns is also a great bullet. But I would be fine staying in that 70 and 80 range also. What is your favorite deer bullet? Thank you I appreciate it

    Bryan litz proved that twist rate has such a small effect on velocity and pressure that's its almost to the point of not being discernible.

      Your not wrong, what we are seeing though is the versatility of the caliber is exceding expectations, so were using it for everything more and more.

    Let me ask you this, if you can get 3250fps with the 75gr bthp match hornady bullet, would you go to the creedmoor or stick with the 22-250? I have the bergara b14 hunter in 22-250 with the 1in9 twist.

    Looking for some help on twist and throat. Barrel will be 24" and shooting mostly 80.5 Bergers. Thinking 8 twist with .80 throat. As throat wears was thinking of pushing useful life of barrel by switching to the 90 gr SMK. Does this sound like a reasonable expectation that I would be able to transition to the 90s as throat wears with the previously mentioned twist and throat. Thanking you in advance.

    I have used JBM twist calculator and Berger Bullets calculator for the same twist and bullet im getting quite different stability factors. Berger calculator saying the 88gr eld m will not stabilize in a 1-8 twist at 3100 fps but JBM saying it will am i doing something wrong ?
    I want a 22 creedmoor to shoot 88gr eld m

    What is the top velocity you’ve seen in a 20” barrel with h4350 and 75 grain bullets

    • @Horizon_Outdoors
      @Horizon_Outdoors  5 лет назад

      We don't use 4350, but you could expect somewhere in the 3,150 fps range on a 20" barrel.

    What is the max weight you'd get out of a 1:12 twist. Want a lightning fast 55gr varmint gun too.

    So in a nut shell... for the 22 creedmoor 1:8 twist is like the .223 1:9 (AR) where it can pretty much stablized most bullet weights.

    • @SR-wz2iv
      @SR-wz2iv 3 года назад

      You'd want a 1:7 for the 90 grainers. 1:6 if you're using a 95 grain and shooting over 600 yards

      Out of a 223 1 in 12 limits you to a 55 grain flat base or lighter. Not sure about 22 creedmore

      Twist rate in barrel determines its favorite bullet. My 1/8 223 wylde best for 75 or 77 grain bullets. 80 grain likely upper limit for accuracy.
