Excited to try this soup out for the first time. I used 1 lb. yellow split peas, some chopped up mushrooms and added 8 cups of veggie broth, plus all the other ingredients. I also added 1 teas. tummaric and 1/2 teas. black pepper. Can't wait to try this soup! Thank you so much. This was the first time I saw your channel.
A group of us watched this video. We thank you very much for a wonderful demonstration. Would you on future videos use only soft music if needed at all....we're all diff't ages & all were annoyed and put off with the loudness & distraction...Would you think about it so we may later subscribe and be part of your viewers on regular basis...So nice to have simple recipe and see a yummy soup. Thank you very much.... :)
I love the music in this video! It adds spice and was my favorite part of my viewing experience! My sister is vegan and I’m vegetarian💖 We love this recipe. Even my picky brother likes it, and that’s saying a lot.
Trying this recipe. The only different thing is that my InstaPot model is different, all of them are depending on when we purchased it. Mine has a Soup/broth feature so that's the one I am trying. Automatically has a time of 30 minutes. Let's hope for the best! Wish me luck!😮😊
I tried exactly as directed. My peas ended up not cooked completely. Do you think the problem might be either something wrong with Instant Pot lid (maybe rubber ring needs to be replaced) or my peas had been in cupboard for quite some time. Maybe they need to be newer? Just wondering why they didn’t turn out like supposed to. After I put in nutritional yeast and tasted, too late to discover peas weren’t completely cooked, so I tried cooking more .. didn’t work and kind of ruined the batch. :-(. Should have cooked more before putting in nutritional yeast. Otherwise, it really was/is very tasty!
Hi! So strange... I do think that it is probably your peas. Taste after the correct cooking time and then taste. You can always cook for a few more minutes. :-)
@@MsHappyvegan Thank you for your reply! Looking forward to trying this again with my freshly bought peas :-). Hate to waste a batch but peas just weren't cooked. Lesson learned! Also learned, do not add nutritional yeast and then try and cook again. It should be added before eating. So maybe if you are not planning on serving whole batch up for one meal, might want to hold off on adding. I understand nutritional content is compromised in cooking. Thanks again for delicious recipe and instructions!
@@1N2themystic I know that "5 minutes" in instant pot really means like 10 to heat up, 5 to cook, and at least 10 to release. Not "guillable". Best recipe for split pea soup comes in a can haha!!
You don't have to use the celery or the carrot. You can actually just use the split peas alone. I also make my split pea soup in the instant pot using 20 minutes, this makes it very smooth and no need to blend. I don't like carrot in the soup because the next day it is too mushy. I do add a few small potatoes if I have them on hand.
Yes. It takes 5 minutes to cook on the instant pot, not including the getting to pressure and the coming down of pressure (if you do a quick release it wil be quicker.) You do not even have to chop the vegetables up if you intend to blend it. Hope you give it a try!
@@clairevargas307 dont buy into this. The reason she is blending at the end is because the peas aren't cooked through. Even in a pressure cooker they need 20+ minutes. Also, pea soup is one of those things like clam chowder where its better the second day. The flavors have time to meld that way.
Thanks, I’m an SOS vegan who is trying to cook split pea soup in my instant pot. Your video gave me fast, solid answers!
My favorite recipe. Thank you. I do add one potato though.
So happy to hear that!

Can't ever go wrong with split pea soup! Yum!!
Isn't it the best?

Haha...You are very kind... I have learned a little bit about making videos since making this one!
I made this soup and loved it. It was my first time using a pressure cooker and it was super easy. Thank you for the recipe!
Really? I am so happy to hear that!
I got an Instant Pot for Christmas last year and am still figuring out what to do with it. I will definitely give this one a try!

@@blborto5989 the real problem is that you are just guillable. Even in a pressure cooker you will need 20+ minutes.

So good ! So easy !
Yup! Thanks!
I love soup & this looks so delicious! 💙
You'll like it! Give it a try! Thanks for your comment!
My sisters making this for dinner!
HI Cleo! Ooo... Let me know how it goes!
Parsnips are really good in this too.
So excited you tried it! Parsnips are such a good idea too!
I try to like carrot and celery, but never did. Any other option to make western soup without these two?
You don't have to use the celery or the carrot. You can actually just use the split peas alone. Did you soak the split peas first? Or can I just add them to the Instant Pot without soaking them first?
No need to soak split peas!
@World Vegan Travel excellent. Thank you. I soaked them the first couple times I made the recipe and thought it was probably unnecessary.
Why nutritional yeast? Just curious! Is it needed?
It just adds a depth of flavor, some more umami!
Well done
Thank you! Hope you can make it!
So this only took 5 mins to make other than the prepping part at the beginning?
Yes. It takes 5 minutes to cook on the instant pot, not including the getting to pressure and the coming down of pressure (if you do a quick release it wil be quicker.)

@@MsHappyvegan well I'm trying to find a faster way of just cooking dried split peas in general. Lol
An instant pot will help for sure.
@@MsHappyvegan is there a way of getting it for cheap some where?

Does it freeze well? Single girl here can’t eat a whole pot of split pea soup
haha says you B4 u taste it. ;)
Hi! Recipe blog link does not work.
It does now!
your link to the recipe does not work
It works now! 😀😀😀
Well done, Brighde :-)
Thank you so much! Our Evason video is coming soon!
great recipe but that music is so annoying.
Thanks for your feedback! I think you're right! :-) Will be more mindful of that in future! ❤️
agreed - good video, irritating music!
Music was fine. Soup was delish! Thank you!
Link to recipe dont work.
I added the link to the recipe in the description.
Love your accent
Thank you!
Great stuff. I see you have no need for a food processor. ;)
Nope! Enjoy!
Damn just 5 mins
It will be lovely with some smoked bacon in it.
As a vegan, I would not be adding (or recommending) that! Hahaha
Worcester ok replacement for liquid smoke?
Some vegan Worcester sauce would give some nice flavour but not the smoky flavour associated with Split pea soup.
smoked paprika will do.
The music is too loud and distracting. Covering your voice.
Very nice. Would be even better without that annoying Musak
really annoying music
