For those who have a specific size in mind for the final bag: multiply your desired bag dimension by 0.7 (root 2 over 2) to find the width of your initial chain. The length of your rectangle should be 3 times that intial width as was mentioned in the video.
OMG Amber, you are a riot. Listening to you, while doing this tutorial. Telling viewers, “If you do not want to do it this way, then don’t.” “Why are you using knots? Because, this is what I do.” Plus, you talk to yourself. It makes me feel good that I am not the only one.
As for the pattern, for the bag, I believe it is called Origami Bag, because of the folding technique. Enjoy the day.

I know the pattern you're talking about and yes it was called the envelope pattern, you can also use that same idea, pattern for a pillow case, I thought I was the only one that heard of it, like your videos!!!

I think the selling pattern was called the origami bag. Sort of self-explanatory because you’re folding it sweater like you do in origami. But this is the best explanation of how to do this pattern I have seen today. Thank you for taking the time to do this and share.

@@bridgetloosen1188 this pattern is pretty forgiving, so you can sort of manipulate it to get the edges where you want them, and then sort of press the rest into place. Unless it’s off really badly, then you might need a frog a few rows lol

Put a row of single crochet all the way around it.

No. They are two totally different things. I can do both, and learned how to crochet first. I much prefer crocheting over knitting.
