I've lost my daughter years ago, and my wife 3 years ago to then get remarried. I struggle hard with seeing life again and deserving to be happy. My wife introduced this gentleman to me and I'm glad. I will overcome this and with his help, beat this. Thank you Mr. Millman
I had a teacher in highschool who taught a class called "Way Of The Peaceful Warrior" on Dan's book. One of the most life changing classes I've ever took and gave me much wider aspects on school, learning, and how I want to live my life ⚡️
I met Dan Millman years back in 2007 in a day lecture in Athens, Greece...at Socrates place back in ancient time...greatest day of my life, with the greatest lesson I had ever had in front of me!
yes, the movie is good but the book is much better and more enlightening, watching the movie after reading the book gives you much more insight as well
The Peaceful Warrior story had such a great impact on my life. Dan Millman's story made me realize that we are truly capable of doing anything and that nothing is impossible. We are a lot more extraordinary than we think 🙏
This Dan shares the truth... basicly... you're fine being all alone, you're fine being with people, you're fine yelling, you're fine crying, you're fine having pain, you're fine being laughed at, you're fine being mocked. Basicly what he's book told me, that there's absolutely no danger in the world, socially. The true danger, is not allowing yourself, to relax into this moment!.
Peaceful Warrior is one of the best films I have ever watched in my life. Highly recommend! NOW AND HERE! BREATHE AND RELAX! Thank you for everything, Dan.
I had the honor of meeting Dan about 20 years ago at one of his seminars and he just is as real and humble and ultimately as real as he is in this talk. We trained martial arts and kept in touch for a bit via email but he is as down to earth and real as a dude can get. Much love Dan
I love the passage where Socrates asks Dan -where are you? Dan says that he is in the office of a gas station. Socrates asks him where that is. Dan replies that it is in California. Socrates prods him further...in the United States, which is on the Earth, in the solar system,.. in the Milky Way galaxy, ..in the universe. Then, Socrates asks: where is the universe? Dan stumbles, and can't answer. Socrates asks him how he can be so certain about everything if he doesn't even know where he is.
I love when Soc asks him to start peeling the layers off of an onion and he does so until the onion is smaller and smaller and eventually gone, Soc then asks whats left, Dan says "well nothing" Soc says wrong... the universe
Read 'Radical Remission' of Kelly Turner. She has interviewed cancer cases who healed spontaneously by practicing 7 Emotional, mental & Spiritual practices. Many videos, interviews are also available.
2020 :-) Watkins included Dan, my all time favourite in his Most Influential Spiritual People List. Rank 70 (My another favorite Don Miguel Ruiz is on 35 & Dr. Joe Dispenza on 30th.)
Loved the Peaceful Warrior movie - definitely life changing. I am a high school teacher and watched it with my students today! They also enjoyed it. Love this lecture too! Thank you!
Thank you so much, sir! I am happy that I can listen to his great words here, 11 years later. Thanks again and Peaceful Warrior is also a great movie. Totally recommend it! 🙏
"everyone is striving to live with a more peaceful heart, but there are also times in our lives that we need a warrior's spirit. Everyday challenges that call forth that warrior spirit inside of us "
His whole Peaceful Warrior book in 18 minutes :) I have been trying to practice Peaceful Warrior's path for the last 10 years, right after I first read the book. I think I need to read more of his work. It has really changed the way I think and live.
Absolutely love this book series. I have a lot of Dan's work on audio and try to go through the series at least once a year. I definitely recommend reading the main four books in the series. 1. Way of the Peaceful Warrior 2. Sacred Journey of the Peaceful Warrior 3. The Hidden School 4. The Journeys of Socrates Thanks Dan!
"we don't have to pretend to like difficulties when they come, but we need to keep that thread of attention that there are hidden gifts depending on how we respond to it"
Honor, Praise, Felicitation & so much Love to you Dan & Soc and both of your teachings ! Amazing and beautiful person you’re and so your books spe. “Way of the Peaceful Warrior” ❤️☘️
"The more we search for ourselves, the less likely we are to find ourselves; and the more we search for God, and to serve our fellow-men, the more profoundly will we become acquainted with ourselves, and the more inwardly assured. This is one of the great spiritual laws of life."
Read Peaceful Warrior years ago. It is definitely a life- changing book in the best way. My fiance passed & this book showed up. It kept me alive. Again all odds I moved across the country & started a new life... amazing ✨♥️✨
Thank you, Dan Millman. I am so glad I was guided to your Talk this morn. In all my confusion and such, the one thing that keeps resonating in my experience is, "It's always both. Not just one or the other." Balance and Harmony are key. I want to become a better surfer. 😃💚🙏💚😃
Read not just the book, but also the second book, then the journey of Socrates. Then the full message will become clear. The movie, for all it is, cannot give you the deeper lessons. Trust me
".. a little bit of something is much better than a lot of nothing". :-) I read Peaceful Warrior in 1998 and started to do little steps. Everything changed. Most important is that i learned to be happy and friendly for no reason. Actually i'm learning english. ;-)
At the beginning of the year, while reading The peaceful warrior for the second time and thinking about the importance of living in the now , the battery of the watch I was wearing since 2009 stoped for the first time. I had no choice but to accept that the only time was now. The coincidence was unreal.
Dan you have changed my life forever. As a young man navigating this world you have help show me the way, and also helped me trust in myself. I will never forget the gift you have given me. But it's not the teacher, it's the message; as mama chia would say. Much love to you and all that you do for the world.
Thanks Dan ! Here in Brazil I see the movie about your experience with " Socrates" . And I love the real history . And I read the book " Power of Now" . This book confirm all that " Socrates" teaching for you ! Forever grates for you !
Am so glad and very grateful to have stumbled on to this video, and have the privilege to hear words of wisdom from this man. In all the noise, his words brings clarity and peace in my mind. What will you do now? HERE AND NOW, BREATH AND RELAX. Blessings to you Dan Millman. Namaste.
I've listened to his book at least once a year since I brought it. It really helps me reflect on what's going on I'm my life and realise that I need to keep changing but to be mindful of the present. Thanks Dan.

I just love Dan. Met him once in Atlanta, GA. We had a quick nice chat. Though he would never remember me, he was the catalyst that started opening my eyes. I'm still searching for a mentor like him, but doubt I ever find it. However, at least I got a good start on opening my eyes and I cherish that.
You might be surprised. You see, everyone is in development, you might meet a budding Dan Millman someday just as I did. Dan was the residential dorm head when I was a freshman at Oberlin College from 1979 to 1980. He was also our diving coach. He taught us how to juggle during Freshman Orientation. He had a philosophy about visualization that got me to nationals (in swimming) by my senior year, simply based on that one 30 minute juggling lesson.
Loved it. Being in the present always is the best present you can ever give yourself. Also, small but consistent effort is always better than big but inconsistent effort. Simple. 😊😊
Excellent and much needed Dan, thank you for this! I'll definitely listen many times to this talk and try to put these things into better practice in my own life! After all it is the implementation that is where the rubber meets the road!

the movie peaceful warrior is just an inspiration to those who loose their confidence after some point of time. you get an inspiration that if this man can you pursue his dreams despite his bad fate and anyone can achieve provided u should have will power to do this . just do what your heart says and do execute what you think .
Thanks Dan , been a fan for years now, I hear your message but I'm still struggling , Hopefully I can Become a master like you . Thanks for talking , I'm still listing.
It has to come from inside you, the knowing that you are so much more than a thought, so much more than an idea, you are infinite inside you, there are boundaries, but they are there to teach you, you are everywhere and everything. This guy knows.
Just got Dan's Book " Way of the Peaceful warrior" it was not on my to get list, but I stumbled upon it on my adventuers. It's such a powerful book I recommend it, especially if you are on the path of enjoying your journey. -Aux1
My favorite feeling is when people are rewarded for things that they haven’t been rewarded for but they should’ve been rewarded for and things that they did regardless of being rewarded for especially when it’d be easier to just not be rewarded but they knew they should’ve been rewarded and so they did it anyway not in any kind of expectation but in some deeper sense of knowledge and understanding of things that they knew they should do because that’s what they are and that’s the same as understanding who they are and that the reward is far less than knowing what they should do and why they should do it and doing it despite what everything else says.
Peaceful Warrior has been a huge inspiration for me for many years. I've watched the movie more than 10 times and finished reading the book yesterday. What is in that book and movie, is amazing. This has many parallels with plenty of teachings. Where are you? What time is it now? Do you have time?
The last time I saw Dan we were both doing handstands at the Maui writers conference in 99. I enjoyed your Ted X talk, and it's good to see you're still doing handstands :-) Keep up the great work.
Discovered this guy through some shady online course dealer called DailyOm... the course was the 4 minute warrior... they were literally reselling a scan of his video from 1987. Still, it seemed an amazing workout and I am glad I discovered it.
I share most Dan's ideas on this video. The one the I don't agree with is that positive thinking doesn't work. To me it's worked great. I've read many books which include positive thinking as a topic and I've been able to produce a huge change inside myself. The problem is that there's a world around us that doesn't always appear to be positive and can even bring you to your knees, no matter how positively you think. But you'll be able to handle everything better with a positive mind. And to have a positive mind you have to watch your thoughts and correct them when they are negative. There's always a positive and a negative way to look at almost everything. The decision is ours. Hard work at first, but worth doing.
Well positive thinking doesn't work because there is resistance between not being ok with a thought and having to use positive thinking to counter act those "bad thoughts" when in fact it was just a thought that you put judgement on.
Sebastian Celesner I think what Dan meant was: no matter the positive or the negative thoughts, good idea or bad, it means nothing if one is doing nothing. Thoughts, words or even wisdoms are nothing if one is doing nothing. “The knowledge is not the same as wisdoms.” “Yeah? What’s the difference?” “...You know how to clean the windshield, right?” “Yeah.” “Wisdom is doing it.” I think what Dan really meant is action. If you are always in motion and act with your positive thinking, you are okay. Sadly, however, most of people in the world don’t. People get motivated easily. After a event, a movie, a seminar, a music, a talk etc.. but, it’s true, the passion will pass, just like we don’t chase butterfly or fly a kite anymore, We get bore, we become numb to anything. We never feel everything is interesting like when we were toddler anymore. So positive thinking is good, but it might just a stimulant of actions for a brief moment. Then most of us go back to our old self. What Dan try to said i think is that no matter what inspiration you get, enjoy it, get energy from it, but don’t linger on it- keep going with your life, and live at present.
Agree completely Sebastian. He's talking about self-help simplistic positive thinking. The work of Tal Ben Shahar and Sonja Lyubomirsky and Barbara Langer have shown there are extremely effective practices that lead to elevated levels of happiness and gratitude. They are not easy and they run counter to the instant gratification instinct that pervades popular culture. Cultivating gratitude and benefit seeking are hard work but incorporated with mindfullness they can be very powerful tools.
Prepare yourself for the task as good as u can. Than take a moment to clear your mind. Than u can go to the task with a open mind. You have to roll with the punches.
Where are you, Dan? Here. What time is it? Now. What are you? This moment.
Yeaaah, the coolest part of the film!
It really is the best part of the movie…

Absolutely amazing speech. And it's so true what Barbara Rasp said: "The lesson is simple; the student is complicated."
I remember Dan when I worked at the Stanford University Athletic Department where Dan was a couch. 1968.
Great to see him again.

My favourite Ted Talk, brilliant!
I share most Dan's ideas on this video. The one the I don't agree with is that positive thinking doesn't work. To me it's worked great. I've read many books which include positive thinking as a topic and I've been able to produce a huge change inside myself. “The knowledge is not the same as wisdoms.”
“Yeah? What’s the difference?”
“...You know how to clean the windshield, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Wisdom is doing it.”
I think what Dan really meant is action.
Even if the moment you are living is hard be sure that it will not last for ever! That's dealing with hard time wisely.
Don't lose practicallity.
Prepare yourself for the task as good as u can. Than take a moment to clear your mind. Than u can go to the task with a open mind. You have to roll with the punches.

Thank you!
