Sam's video using AVP in public: • Using Apple Vision Pro...
With the release of Apple Vision Pro, a risky bet on an unproven type of computing, there are a lot of new features and ways to do things that we’re used to. Today I decided the best way to get used to the new Spatial Computer from Apple is to live in it. For 24 hours. And to spice up my Vision Pro challenge, I won’t be connecting to power at all, and I won’t be allowed to use my iPhone or Mac unless absolutely necessary. I will be truly immersed in visionOS for a full 24 hours (yes overnight as well).

The story, the drama, the comedic timing, this video was top notch
Yeah, I had a laugh or two.
Luke, you wore the wrong band for this! ouuuuch!
That band's preferred by some of us.
Yeah that’s gotta hurt
Honestly I didn’t find it that bad!
@@lukemiani awesome. Max Tech’s video showed that they didn’t get uncomfortable either. I am definitely buying one now!
@@Epicgamer_Mac Max used the other band for the 8h challenge, not the same one as Luke's
at 3:24 Can we talk about the name of Luke's Airpods Pros? lol
Yikes !
What is it lol I can barely read
probably some friend joke lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dayumm must be his gf AirPods 🤣
Can’t believe you did that without the overhead strap
Don’t believe everything you see 😂
Hey Luke,
Just saw another video about the Vision Pro. Apparently, if you turn on trave mode before entering the car, the screens will stay put and you can use it inside the car, but the author stated that you have to do it before you start moving. Hope this is the solution to the car problem.
Brave video by the way 😉
What if you forget to do it before the plane takes off and you can’t use it for a full 12h flight? Might be a dumb idea to not allow it while moving.
Lots of VP videos out, but this one for me has been the most interesting, with real life examples of use. Nice job, Luke!
ditto
Great, so now not only do I have to wander around the house to find my keys, now I have to go from room to room looking for where I left my notes app open.
You can hold the crown button to recenter all the windows in front of you
SMH, you just donno anything about how it works
Bro. Why does no one know about travel mode? That’s how you use it in a car or a plane. You have to turn that on.
I expected at least the big tech channels to know this. I think it’s in control center. Please test it and update so people know about it.
Travel Mode also Doesnt work very well
Don't drive with it.. DON'T!
cooking not a good idea. Steam will end up inside. No doubt Apple will have moisture sensors in there for when its stops working
I CAN NOT WAIT until Apple glass comes out with all of this tech in a pair of glasses!!!!!
I really want a Google Glass design, Apple Vision Pro feature product in the future.
This is such a great time watching tech youtubers! Apple Vision Pro is setting a standard. I‘m gonna save for version 2 or 3. Being in Germany, I currently have no possibility to try one out. Hopefully we‘ll get it in 2024.
I did the demo when picking mine up & it is amazing with all of the refined Apple shots. The immersion is next level & the spatial photos & videos are very striking. Viewing my own panoramas taken on vacation in Ireland & Scotland was an amazing way to remember the trip.
My main observation is Luke went to the gym, worked out with his coat on and the presumably did not have a shower afterwards. Then did a pod cast and went out to dinner. Was probably a bit smelly !
Some people don’t get smelly that quick
If I don't do cardio or the sauna, I rarely break a sweat just doing weights.
Luke coming out of Vision Pro after 24 hours. Was like Neo first coming out of the Matrix.
I like Luke Miami so much I watch his videos everyday and I must agree of all things that he says in the video.
Keep up the good work!🤩👍
One more time Apple make the difference, first time with the iPhone, and now with Apple vision great job. Thanks for your videos. Great job! Love from Portugal.
Man I loved this video! Great review as always. Keep 'em coming......
16:47 "The WHOLE floor is wet"
This was very well done. I look forward to rushing home after work to play with mine. I got it on 2/2 but haven't had a full weekend with it.
Yeah- VR is going to need some type of personal AC system around the forehead and eyes. Seems like no matter how good the headset is, everyone's forehead ends up getting hot. I also find it rather annoying that I need to wait about 10-15 minutes for the fogging to go away around the lenses. Until the overall comfort is addressed, it's still going to be just a novelty that people eventually jump on if it becomes more affordable.
At least when someone wears the Vision Pro's out in public, it looks like they are wearing a pair of Oakley's modern ski googles. Apple nailed the look!
When I game for awhile in my quest 3 my eye area gets so sweaty that I have to wash my face afterwards
That’s true, it might look goofy, but at least it looks stylishly goofy
The pico 4 headset actually has a fan that prevents sweat.
However Apple will release a Vision pro 2 with i-cool and tell the fan boys it is a new invention in VR (in mean spacial computing).
Yeah but people who walk down the street wearing ski goggles tend to get laughed at and called names, no matter how shiny they are.
Great video Luke. I see this becoming an everyday tool in the future. I believe we will get to a point where we can't live without it for at least some of the day much like we can't really get things done without our smartphones.
After 7 days of 24/7 usage you’ll have hundreds of windows floating around all over LA.
😂
Good point, how do you force close apps so that they don’t stay open in the neighboring city or something crazy?
What a video Luke. The things you do for us…
Good stuff Luke!!
Cool challenge and way to showcase this device. How did you face feel? Any imprints left?
This video is so cool to watch and interesting ! Thanks !
Great freaking video. Curious why you choose to use the Solo Knit Band vs using the more comfortable Dual Loop Band for this 24 hour experiment? I too got my Apple Vision Pro on day one. Delivered Friday 12 Noon on the dot. But still love watching your take on it Luke. Thanks for doing this.
I was wondering about cooking with the Vision Pro. I actually have an idea for a cookbook app (would not be surprised if there already is one) to use while cooking.
You guys are dorks. Love it~!
Loving the coverage …keep it up..luke
How ironic, Luke sitting with Apple's future on his FACE, and directly behind your HEAD is the 38 year-old Macintosh Plus!
What’s the irony here?
@@Suscida Uhum! "the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect." --->> Apple's super potential Future on Luke's FACE, Apple's glorious PAST behind Luke's head. If you can't see the irony. I'm sorry cover your face with a Dummy Vision Pro!!
@@savagepro9060Irony would be if the Mac was on his face and the Vision Pro was behind him. I believe the word you’re looking for is symbolic. “How SYMBOLIC is it that Luke is looking into the future on his face while the Mac’s beginnings are behind him.”
Great job on the video still watching on a macbook i bought 5 years ago from your advice. Definitely need a new one tho lol
This video is everything my coworkers and I talked about will happen when the Vision Pro would be released. 🤣
I really do want to try one as soon as we can in Canada
If you put in full immersive ambient it works inside the moving car?
Because they advertise to use it in the airplane
"This is just an issue I put upon myself. I have no one to blame but me."
That says it all!
BRO RREALLY CLEANED HIS WET FLOOR WITH SOCKS ON. YOU REALLY ARE FROM LA 💀💀💀🤣
The more we are connected, the less we connect. I really don't understand why people voluntarily isolate themselves even more with this thing and visit a shrink or therapist at the same time because they feel so lonely.
Because it's fun.
Wow, that's sooo deep. Definitely NOT a fucking stupidly pretentious statement lol
Yeah I just hope lots of people not gonna adopt this. Seeing through a camera.. is not reality. It's going to be really awkward once I walk into a restaurant and I'm like take that sh"t off so I can talk to you!
It'd be great to be able to see an edited version of pass-through that makes it look more like it does in reality and compare to a similar video of the quest 3. People are out there comparing screen captures of both thinking that the Quest 3 hasn't got a tonne of noise
@Luke Miani I have two questions. My first question is can you use a remote desktop app to potentially use a remote windows screen next to connecting to your mac screen or maybe even launch an multiple remote app more than one time to get multiple work screens? My second question is does apple vision pro work with any older intel macs or does the mac need to have a m based processor chip to work with the vision pro?
Thank you Luke for the video; I really enjoyed it and look forward to an exciting future. I can see immense productivity gains stemming from one's ability to become laser-focused in their work , let alone what is available outside of work. It will be interesting to hear if people experience any muscle, back, and neck pain after prolonged use of the device.
In my personal experience, having worked in the engineering software field for over four decades, it was quite 'normal' to clock in 60 to 70 hours or more per week. Let along using computers outside of work. Which I did. Now, at 61 years of age, my early years spent on a computer have led to continued issues with my neck and back. Correct posture was never emphasised back then so Physiotherapy could be a growing industry as well. 👏🖥
"I don't look weird at all." Ha!
Doing this during the historic firehose of rain! Impressive!
Just a really fancy 3-D iPad stuck to your face, in my book.
and a very overpriced one at that
@@johnfloy Actually, adjusted for inflation, the Vision Pro costs half of what the original Macintosh cost in 1984, and that was considered "very overpriced" at the time, too.
How to oversimplify something to the point of being ridiculous...
Can’t wait for mine! I definitely wanna try a few apps, and am hoping they’re available, like chrome Remote Desktop. That should allow windows computer mirroring but it won’t be as smooth as running Mac mirroring
How Bad do you guys build your houses? Thats hilarious!!
It'd be really interesting to know how much power you used over that period :) Would it be the same as using for instance a macbook pro for 24 hour straight?
Can't wait to see what dosdude will do with those Vision Pro haha
Luke and his boyfriend are really cute. Definitely need to try a Vision Pro.
Great video. Why did you not use travel mode in the car?
Quick question:
You couldn't use it in a car because of tracking, which makes sense.
But what about a multiple hour bus drive where you want to use it as your Mac display? And what about the same for train and for flying in a plane? Would those be possible?
I think the eyes would look better if they were cartoon Bender eyes. Then they'd be well out of the uncanny valley. The Juno app should implement a "scrub lock" or "gesture lock." Or maybe "gesture lock" could be built into the Vision OS? (EDIT: Dude, Bibim Bap isn't pronounced to rhyme with Dippin Dots!)
I think that when you have your mac display connected you can actually use its keyboard and mouse in visionOS apps
I could definitely see someone attending virtual classes through the vision pro. i wonder what other potential uses and experiences there are for people with disabilities, however it seems like peripherals still need to be connected for the experience to be smooth.
This looks hilarious!!
its pretty amazing what you can do with it
Wait I thought the vision pro had a travel mode. Does it not work in a car?
Hi Luke, I have a question have you tried to mirror your iPad instead of using a Mac laptop or desktop
what a time to be alive. the only issue is battery life this is not a apple problem, its a VR industry prob. em
This is borderline dystopian. Progress must not be stopped I suppose, no need to think about it…
Thanks for the video though -interesting experiment
Watching this video I kept thinking about when I went all in on Google Glass at $1500. I got the same reactions by everyone I met, wanting to see how it worked, trying it etc. I also told myself that there was no way that Google would just abandon it. I spent way too much on it, various updates were coming out, apps were made. Then they even updated the hardware and replaced users devices that were having issues with the new models. Eventually they did announce they were no longer going to be updating it and I thought for sure they would release the source code so the community could update it or maybe Google would provide a new version of Glass and allow all of us early adopters to have a free replacement. Unfortunately, it now sits on my bookshelf as a reminder that I need to be a little more cautionary.
If Apple can sort out the moving car problems as well as get the size down of the headset itself, even to something like a pair of glasses I'd be down to buy one and wear it all the time, it doesn't even need to have the power of an M2, even if they put in an A16 to cost it down it would still do pretty well.
Hey Luke, at 9:06 in the Vision Pro car segment, maybe you could try an experiment in which you watch a video while pinching and holding it as if you are placing it in space, but only in a moving vehicle. This would help us see if the video will travel along with you.
I feel in the long term, Vision Pro with a few gens and size/weight improvements could be good for posture and nerd neck. Not having to look down all the time at a phone or watch
would it work in the car when you have somekind of screen in front of you? So it doesnt see everything when moving?
Wonder why not have iPhone pro lidar function of doorand handle etc recognition (accessibility) would seem logical next step for avp
Well done for your endurance! I.was surprised there doesn’t seem to be stabilisation - eg, when watching video at the gym. If there was a projector, could you share what you’re seeing with someone not wearing an AppleVision? Can you share what you’re seeing with someone else who is wearing an AppleViaion Pro? And lastly - could use that Mac Classic behind you while wearing an AppleViision? Really want to see that.
You can recall all the windows towards you by clicking the button.
turning your house into a tony stark like workplace is awesome. just wait till the headset gets more intergrated.
I died when he cracked an egg on the stainless steel pan and it IMMEDIATELY got stuck
Question... if you are in a car with an environment... Is this still failing to use?
Interesting. Some users are saying Siri is very good with navigation and assistance in the VP. Why use the virtual keyboard when inside if you have Siri?
And people hated on wearing Google Glass in public.
Would have liked to see you editing using the iPad/Apple Vision Pro version of Final Cut Pro instead of your Mac version.
Travel mode for using the Vision Pro in the car?
I would have thought that, when you move far enough away from a window it would just follow you? I thought that the entire point was for your windows to be surrounding your periphery at all times?
Also I think it would make sense for your Apple Vision Pro to connect to your iPhone (or other Apple devices on you) when outside, as a stable reference point for all your windows to follow? Is it just me or does that not make hella sense?
Good job. 👍🏻 😀.
Why didn’t you turn on the travel option so you could still do work without anything disappearing in the car?
i'm surprised your not using the head support strap .
I’d love to see an update in the cameras, so that you can see better than we can actually see. You could see better in low light or completely dark situations (on that I think Apple could also add other types of cameras, IR ,UV etc. or make a headset for industry.)
Realise that’s not anything connected with this video - although I think it’s one area of application that could be a cool area to explore. Rather than just replicating what we see via the cameras and display, these could be pretty amazingly enhanced.
Wait Luke works out 😱😱😳😳
This is reminds me a awful lot Apple's greatest hits of the past: The Lisa, Mac, Apple IIGS, Newton Message Pad, iPhone, and iPad... All of which introduced new ideas and ways to interact with technology. The Vision Pro could end up as a colossal failure like some of the items I listed above, or it could be the first in a long line of similar and ever improving products. Regardless of the outcome, it will have a PROFOUND effect on how we use and interact with technology in the future.
Although, if I had my way about it, I think I will wait until they come up with an iteration that's perhaps a little lighter and maybe a little cheaper!
doesn't travel mode work in a car when u activate it before u start moving
quality video
If you're in a car or plane or train, turn on Travel Mode and avoid moving too much and it should still track fine....
Let’s go for 1 week Super Extreme!!!!
For now I have pre ordered and Real Air 2 Ultra as a pseudo replacement.
Isn’t there an iPad version of Final Cut Pro
Well you answered a question I had, and that you can use external battery packs. I would use it that way most of the time if I owned one to try to help extend the life of the Apple Vision Pro battery pack.
Apple Vision Pro it just might become my daily driver a few years down the road for content consumption when I replace my Apple M1 MacBook Air. I am impressed.
Please keep on top of third party solutions for this environment. The thing I'm looking for is a cap type solution that would allow you to attach the battery on the back to counterbalance the weight of the headset.
Now for the weight. When I first started as an Little League Baseball / Softball umpire many, many years ago my face masks weight was more than the Apple Vision Pro and hung off the front of my head. Now I got use to it. These days of course they make ultralight face masks. So I am looking for third party solutions to replace the Apple head gear to better balance the weight on my head.
I was on the cutting edge in 1984 with the purchase of the Apple Macintosh. Not going to be with the Apple Vision Pro.
you have to put the headset in TRavle mode, when mobile
The music at the end had me ☠️🎻
Well, someone had to do it 😂
Red marks on your forehead 😮 !!!! 😅 great video Luke, hope you are enjoying LA. It only rain about once a year here, honestly 😂 sorry about your apt leaking 😢
Worst:
Missing scratchers for the rainy days... 🤪
Apple definitely didn’t do a good job advertising Travel Mode. No one knows it! Not even tech RUclipsrs. Unfortunate.
Is there a karaoke mode in Apple Music on Apple Vision Pro?
Will EVERBODY be wearing these at Burning Man this year?
People in the street be like "dude, you dropped your email app !"
This is going to be an Avg day once it becomes the size of a compact/fashionable spectacle and replaces the phone 📱
How did you shower with the vision pro after the gym?
24 hours sounds like a nightmare....
