I do find it interesting that most people seem to simply walk by, almost trying to ignore your presence. I wonder how many months it will take for all of us to have seen the Apple Vision in public? The workflow to build the interior could be awesome.
    Like 3D scan the van and create everything in 3D.
    Put the 3D model into the VisionPro and project it 1:1 into the vans space.
    Now you could take the individual 3D parts, like wood planks, put them next to your actual wood and use them for scale and more.

  • @incredibilistic
    @incredibilistic 10 месяцев назад +4

    Maybe I missed it but did you actually use the Vision Pro before going to the airport? I get understand your schtick of trying out tech for travel but a lot of the issues you seemed to have with the Vision Pro could've been figured out and/or resolved had you spent quality time with it before going to the airport.
    Case in point: you seemed confused by the fact that the Home Screen and windows you set up weren't following you while walking. That's the most basic characteristic of the Vision Pro that wouldn't feel so surprising had you spent time with it at home on the couch then got up to get a drink only to realize that everything you were playing with was locked into place based on where you were last. In fact, I find that feature to be one the coolest aspects of the Vision Pro. Imagine that you had some chores to do and you pinned them to certain objects in different rooms. Rather than having to carry around a list you could just walk into a room and instantly see what you need to tend to.
    Another really cool feature I saw someone else use was setting timers over pots. One pot is boiling noodles and the other is searing chicken. Having a timer over each pot with the recipe pinned above your cutting board feels like the future.
    But I digress. Your "review" was pretty cool and while it showed some of the amazing advantages of the Vision Pro you also found some of its weaknesses.
    Safe travels.
    Cheers!

      @gravel.travel  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for your comment! Well, we probably should have said in the intro of the video that we aren't tech reviewers first, we are travelers who happen to love tech. We got the headset on Feb 2nd (day of public release), used for the day and then flew with them on Feb 3rd. So the concept was to give as real of a first time use on an airplane as possible. Apple's main product perk is that they are very user friendly, even in a tech that has never been used before like this one. Even with a lot of beta features, it was indeed user friendly with a lot of surprises as we've never used a spatial computer while walking hahah. Appreciate your curiosity towards our POV and watching the video!

    It doesn't have a USB Type-C right? So we can't attach an external drive full of movies or content to watch and that's a bummer :(

      To our knowledge that is not possible (yet!) Im sure they'll make it possible!

    I have ADHD- boredom is painful for me so I live to take gadgets on international flights. I’ve owned numerous VR headsets since 2016, and have taken various mobile HMDs on economy flights. We get to lock out the world around me and watch films and shows in literally what is essentially our own private theatres.
    Now the Vision Pro is out, I am supremely jealous (I can’t justify $7,000 Australian dollars for it,) but I understand it, and what it means for the future others do not yet see. For better or worse.
    In the interim, I use Xreal glasses and something called an Xreal beam, where I can only watch my content, browse, or read my brooks on a single screen. But I don’t need to wear a cumbersome headset, just a pair of rayban-like shades. Pros and cons, amirite?
    Very good review from a strikingly handsome couple. Exceedingly socially attractive; you both draw people in.

    No, you can turn it off my holding the digital crown and the shutter button at the same time for around 5 seconds, and then the "slide to power off" screen will show, just like an iPhone with the power and volume button. After that, then you can disconnect the cable.

      We can’t get that to work, it just brings up Force Quit App window. If you own them lemme know if I’m doing something wrong!

    Having to hold windows while walking seems... not right. I wonder if travel mode does actually account for that.

    After you walk through the display you can regrab it at the bar at the bottom and the display reorientates to you pov

    Planes are tight as ever. What is the polite way to say, "quit pinching in my space"?

    Looks very non-starter as a replacement for anything during actual travel. I'm glad it's a small step forward for functioning on a plane with an XR headset, but it's just too much bulk and complexity to watch movies or type with compared with highly portable smartphones and earbuds.

    How about you actually read up on the device your using/reviewing and use the airplane mode option to see if it works as designed?

      Yup, it’s supposed to change the way the sensors work to get rid of things not working right on a plane.

    About productivity, may I just say that if you're compelled to get the device for the butterfly experience more than the virtual mac screen, that sounds a bit unreal -in a bad way- ?
    If you edit videos and photos, having a resizable display is something EXTREMELY useful. And wait till Apple will allow multiple mac virtual screens!

    • @gravel.travel
      @gravel.travel  10 месяцев назад

      Yeah 100%. I think the Mac screen was so good that it didn’t feel shocking like the butterfly was. Just felt like a normal screen.

      @@gravel.travel If it feels like a normal screen, that's already very good by itself, since it's a virtual and not physical one XD

      It just doesn’t really work like that. If I’m in a window seat and I try to put the Lego game outside. It will look like it’s 10 feet from me but still inside. Does that make sense.

    Here I am deaf... I am wondering if a dictation (subtitle/closed captioning) would show up if someone tries to speak with you? I think it would be awesome to have this tool for me to listen to what my hearing family, hearing friends, and hearing workers say.

    What is it like going through security with it? And was this airport typical with the level of security?

      We put them through the scanner like any other bag inside their Apple travel case! And yes, an international airport so full level security.
