I'm an Aussie and I discovered a little while back that my Great great grandfather (x3) was born and came from North Witham Lincolnshire. I had no real idea about North Witham or Licolnshire more generally. So it is so interesting to see you do this ride...really appreciate it....
Beautiful ride Steve .I must admit it did bring a little tear to my eyes aas you may remember we where due to be in the Uk from last Thursday. Unfortunately I had a health problem that put me back in to hospital and had to cancel our trip . I’m slowly on the mend but it will take a while before I’m back on the bike even here in Australia . We are planning to do the trip in April next year when I’m back on my feet and visiting my cousin in Hagworthingham . Take care ride safe Mal in Australia

Hi Steve good to see you out and about my friend, every biker should have a copy of his Biker Britain books and his European tour ones as well if they are keen to tour Europe. A friend of mine contacted Simon and gave him a list of places he wanted to visit in Spain and Portugal last year and Simon planned a route for him ( there was a fee involved ) the lad had a ball Stay Safe out there my friend .
Nice ride out Steve, seeing you with a written route reminds me of my first bike tour in 1988. I had the route written out and stuck onto the petrol tank of my 250 superdream. Route was from Kent to Jedburgh in Scotland😮did it in 1 day, slept well that night for sure. Will look forward to following your adventures, would like to do that ride myself. May take a day trip from Essex, if you are ever Essex way look up Fintchingfield it is a very popular spot with bikers.

Lincolnshire has some amazing riding/driving roads. best to do them before the lunatics arrive for holiday season. I've got plenty of experience driving and riding these roads visiting my caravan in Chapel St Leonards, after saying that though this one is new to me, one I'll definitely add to my ever growing list of rides.
@@Steve-Clark-1200rt I did the route a couple of weeks ago. It's fantastic! I agree with what you said though, you have to be careful with some of those bends as they do jump out at you. Overall though a great ride with lovely scenery. I'll consider taking my new pass (last September) son on this to get him more used to bends. Taking it steady at his pace I think he'll love it!
Ahh - that´s how blue sky looks like!!! Here in southern Germany we´ve had nearly only rain for the last 4 weeks. As a teacher my pupils spent two weeks having a work experience before our Easter Holiday. My job there was to visit them in their different working places and I wanted to use my BMW R 1200RS. Two days were ok, the rest of the two weeks it was raining. Now having 3 weeks Easter holidays this year it´s been raining nearly all holiday so far. Still one week to go but I only have little hope. The weather this year has been dreadful so far. However my bike is very clean and polished. :-/ Just seen those many villages on your map of that area ending with -thorpe or -by. I guess you know that they were founded by the Vikings. 🙂 Take care, mate!
Yeah the main reason we haven't put out much content this year is exactly that. The weather has either been rain or if not raining to cold to dry out the wet roads. Hope you get out on yours my friend. And no I did not know that info about the Vikings, always nice to get additional info on things we ride through so cheers for that 👍
@@Steve-Clark-1200rt I studied English, Geography and History some time ago and I found the English history amazing. The Vikings often left injured warriors back in England and left without them. They found wifes and often founded new villages. Yorvik - today York was the capital of east England some time later. The area used to be called Danelaw because it was under the law of the Vikings/Danes. You might know the Yorvik Viking museum in York. It´s worth visiting on a bike tour to York. I have visited it several times and I´ve always enjoyed it. Take care, mate!
I only managed half the video yesterday, it inspired me to go for a ride out in the afternoon, I liked this video as I rode to Skegness last week for fish & chips, finishing the video today. I think Lincolnshire may be better than I gave it credit. As I would normally do derbyshire instead, I know the city of Lincoln is nice and would be good for a base, if people aren't from the county.
That's a cracking route Steve, some of those roads I've ridden many times and some I've never ridden at all, but maybe I will be doing at some point in the very near future. I've got a few of Simon's books so I'll be plotting this route on the Tomtom and having a ride over from Derbyshire, thanks for sharing 👍
@@Steve-Clark-1200rt Good of you to share the gpx file Steve 👍 The TomTom will accept those files, but to be honest I'd created my own route in My Route app and sent that to my sat nav, purely because I wanted a door to door route which incorporated Simon's route along with a couple of extra bits added in. I rode it a couple of days ago and thoroughly enjoyed it 👍
@@stevew3012 happy days Steve know exactly what you mean as the route door to door for us was actually double the length we rode. Have been looking at that Myroute app and it looks quite good but you have to pay 🤣
@@Steve-Clark-1200rt I did 175 miles in total, can't remember how many of them made up Simon's route but I had a fair few to do to get to my start point at Wragby. I prefer My Route app for planning, I just find it more user friendly than the TomTom software, but yes, it wasn't cheap but for me it was worth it 👍

Steve the section from Market Rasen to Wragby is definitely not the section of the ride known to us locals as The Bardney bends. Great route have ridden all those roads many times
That's my 'back yard' - I didn't realise how lucky I am until you showed me! I ride these all the time to visit friends or to find a bank branch that's still open. By the way the - A631 from Rasen to Louth is soon to be made a 50 limit.
@@Steve-Clark-1200rt To extend the route a bit try turning right just after Ludford onto the B1225 towards Caister. Then left onto A46 back to Market Rasen, then left back to Willy woods. Beautiful scenery at this time of year.

Hi Paul got your email mate. My sat nav is the BMW Nav 6 some say they are great others have had problems but touch wood mine has been spot on. I believe the Garmin XT fits staight into our cradle and is a cheaper option and people seem to love this model, hope that helps Paul.

Hi Ivan I use the standard Drift Mic but its clipped behind a slightly larger mic thats for the Sena 20S coms device I have so I think the bigger mic protects the smaller one from wind noise a bit. Hope that answers your question. Ride safe my friend.

I’ve only just started my chant and have tried all sorts of mic set ups I think I may have finally got the right one now I’m using an old Mic off a scala and adapted it to work with my DJI 3. Sometimes on the straight between Market Rasen and Willingham Woods (60 limit), and depending where you're coming from, the A631 through Middle Rasen (30 limit)

These 50 mph limit's are popping up all over the place nowaday's, some are needed but a lot in my opinion are not Clive.

you mention in the video your sat nav is a huge help with those 90 degree bends. you have the bmw own brand sat nav or other. what is your preference. need to GET me a sat nav for my beemer RT WITH GOOD GRAPHICS for my old eyes. what one do you recommend . Happy touring. regards Paul.
Hi Paul got your email mate. My sat nav is the BMW Nav 6 some say they are great others have had problems but touch wood mine has been spot on. I believe the Garmin XT fits staight into our cradle and is a cheaper option and people seem to love this model, hope that helps Paul.

Hi Craig I use Sony Vegas Pro 14 think it's up to version 18 now but 14 is the one I know and learnt off RUclips. Ride Safe mate.

Love your videos mate. What mic do you use as you get low wind noise with an almost open face helmet
Hi Ivan I use the standard Drift Mic but its clipped behind a slightly larger mic thats for the Sena 20S coms device I have so I think the bigger mic protects the smaller one from wind noise a bit. Hope that answers your question. Ride safe my friend.

I’ve only just started my chant and have tried all sorts of mic set ups I think I may have finally got the right one now I’m using an old Mic off a scala and adapted it to work with my DJI 3. Love your videos mate I love to explore the roads like yourself hopefully I will get a lot more done this summer
