  • In this episode we ride the Lincolnshire Bends loop from the book by Simon Weir called Bikers Britain. Its a 53 mile round trip starting and finishing at Market Rasen.
    Starting on the B1202 we ride for 14 miles on the Bardney Bends before taking a left turn onto the B1190 where we ride along the Bucknall Bends for 10 miles.
    When we reach Horncastle its a left turn again to ride the third stage on the A153 which takes you past the Cadwell Park Race Circuit.
    And finally we join the 4th stage by riding the A631 for 13 miles calling in at Willingham Woods.

    I'm an Aussie and I discovered a little while back that my Great great grandfather (x3) was born and came from North Witham Lincolnshire. I had no real idea about North Witham or Licolnshire more generally. So it is so interesting to see you do this ride...really appreciate it....

    Beautiful ride Steve .I must admit it did bring a little tear to my eyes aas you may remember we where due to be in the Uk from last Thursday. Unfortunately I had a health problem that put me back in to hospital and had to cancel our trip . I’m slowly on the mend but it will take a while before I’m back on the bike even here in Australia . We are planning to do the trip in April next year when I’m back on my feet and visiting my cousin in Hagworthingham . Take care ride safe Mal in Australia

    I only managed half the video yesterday, it inspired me to go for a ride out in the afternoon, I liked this video as I rode to Skegness last week for fish & chips, finishing the video today. I think Lincolnshire may be better than I gave it credit. Ahh - that´s how blue sky looks like!!! Here in southern Germany we´ve had nearly only rain for the last 4 weeks. As a teacher my pupils spent two weeks having a work experience before our Easter Holiday. My job there was to visit them in their different working places and I wanted to use my BMW R 1200RS. Two days were ok, the rest of the two weeks it was raining. Now having 3 weeks Easter holidays this year it´s been raining nearly all holiday so far. Still one week to go but I only have little hope. The weather this year has been dreadful so far.
    However my bike is very clean and polished. :-/
    Just seen those many villages on your map of that area ending with -thorpe or -by. I guess you know that they were founded by the Vikings. 🙂
    Take care, mate!

    • @Steve-Clark
      @Steve-Clark  Год назад

      Yeah the main reason we haven't put out much content this year is exactly that. The weather has either been rain or if not raining to cold to dry out the wet roads. Hope you get out on yours my friend.
      And no I did not know that info about the Vikings, always nice to get additional info on things we ride through so cheers for that 👍

      @@Steve-Clark I studied English, Geography and History some time ago and I found the English history amazing. The Vikings often left injured warriors back in England and left without them. They found wifes and often founded new villages. Yorvik - today York was the capital of east England some time later. The area used to be called Danelaw because it was under the law of the Vikings/Danes. You might know the Yorvik Viking museum in York. It´s worth visiting on a bike tour to York. Another cracking video, steve. if I knew you was passing my front door mate would have put the kettle on and the bacon in the frying pan. then joined you from Horncastle . on my R1200RT. Maybe next time when you over this way. can send you a email address if it can be done privately. so let me know how if you ok with that.
    you mention in the video your sat nav is a huge help with those 90 degree bends. you have the bmw own brand sat nav or other. what is your preference. need to GET me a sat nav for my beemer RT WITH GOOD GRAPHICS for my old eyes. what one do you recommend . Happy touring. regards Paul.

      Hi Paul got your email mate. My sat nav is the BMW Nav 6 some say they are great others have had problems but touch wood mine has been spot on. I believe the Garmin XT fits staight into our cradle and is a cheaper option and people seem to love this model, hope that helps Paul.

      Hi Ivan I use the standard Drift Mic but its clipped behind a slightly larger mic thats for the Sena 20S coms device I have so I think the bigger mic protects the smaller one from wind noise a bit. Hope that answers your question. Ride safe my friend.
