    Hi, liked your video - did you know that there is a dungeon below the victorian prison? Not accessible to the public, it is impressive in size and design. I only know this because I used to train inside it for the fire and rescue service using its pitch black interior for breathing apparatus training.

      I have also been in there. But there is no record if it being a dungeon. There is also nothing to say when it was created. Shame as it would make a good prison.

    I visited the castle several years ago with my then young children, they were bored when I tried reading the magna Carta but were really excited about the executions.

    Thank you again for your video. Incidentally, there is an orginial copy of the Magna Carta in Rochester Cathederal. It did not set out the rights of the public, just the barons, earls and freemen (of which there were few).

    • @allmodcons6
      @allmodcons6 2 года назад +1

      there are only 4 'original' 1215 copies in existence 2 in the British Library, 1 at Salisbury Cathedral and 1 at Lincoln Cathedral. Rochester Cathedral doesn't have one but they did exhibit the Faversham Magna Carta from 1300 for a time

    • @johnhewett2525
      @johnhewett2525 6 месяцев назад +1

      When I was younger (much)the Magna Carta was housed in the Cathedral not the castle and there was no charge to see it. The king had absolute power and the Barons and Nobles did not like this. King John facing revolt signed the Magna Carta 1215. I know this because I got there at 1230 and missed the signing. lol

    Hi just review of Pink Floyd tribute band "On The Run"... Lincoln Castle 8/7/23, firstly what a venue for any type of entertainment spectacular and glorious in Every way and only yards away the 900 year old Gothic cathedral renowned for its sheer magnificence and outstanding prescence worldwide. The night began with KT BUSH tribute band and what a great band they were the sound and light show was as good as almost the Kate Bush in person thoroughly agreeable and well executed throughout. The main performance by " On The Run" was marginally superior, fab musicians and vocals that the audience really appreciated highly recommended and yes I'd go to another of there concerts, downside the food and drink was extremely expensive and no you couldn't take your own tipple inside thanks to security scouring bags of all shapes and sizes, me and my daughter had a great time and it was a surprise birthday gift truly wonderful and chuffed to bits 100%., in the close proximity to us members of the audience had a monster " Skunk Spliff" That drifted our way, being an ex smoker I wasn't impressed but everyone to their own tastes, the acoustics in the grounds of the castle almost perfect and that's why given the chance GO TO FIND OUT FOR YOURSELVES... GUARANTEED YOU'LL BE IMPRESSED, Thanks to Kayleigh and everything and everyone for a classic night out, oh by the way yes I'M FROM LINCOLN 😉TOP NOTCH NIGHT AND UNFORGETTABLE!!! 👍👍

    I didn't hear you mention how the walls were cited by the parliamentary army. They used to be 20 to 30 feet taller. It was done because the walls were impossible to breach. The tours there are awesome. And the cathedral next door has the oldest known tapestry of the story of Robin hood.

      The castle wasn't 20ft higher. The castle was already in partial ruins. In 1335 it was stated it was no longer of military use. The Parlimentary troops climbed the walls and took the castle in approx 15 minutes.
