    England’s Most Beautiful City? 👉🏻 ruclips.net/video/DnMQuge1PsI/видео.htmlsi=cgBdNuK3rWP89R4C

      There used to be a bench halfway up Steep Hill. It was great to flop out on, if tired climbing the hill. It looks like it's gone now (looking at this video.) I miss Lincoln, I must admit.

      The graves in the tower are where they buried the executed convicts. The gallows used to be in the tower.

    I grew up in Lincolnshire before moving to Essex for work 30 years ago. Ive always said Lincoln is the greatest 'undiscovered' city in the UK and I never could understand why. Havent been there now for probably 20 years and your video has made me decide to plan anotger visit. Awesome city, well done for capturing its splendour and charm.

      We’d totally agree with you there. We love a visit to Lincoln, it’s a great city to just walk around…. Until you get to Steep Hill that is 😂

    The Bomber Command ‘Spire’ signifies the length of one Lancaster Bomber wing btw guys. Great video, Lincoln is a lovely city with a 1000 year history.

      Oh interesting fact, thanks for sharing. It’s a great city and we will be back some day as still lots of it we haven’t seen!

    • @concise707
      @concise707 5 дней назад

      The Spire memorial is 102 ft tall the same as the TOTAL wingspan of a Lancaster, just in case anyone interprets your comment as being one wing. However, it is also the height at which the Dambusters transitted from RAF Scampton to the centre of the Ruhr valley.....at night, with no navaids, map reading all the way.....

    Great video, guys. I've lived here for over 24 years (retired ex RAF) and love it. You need to come back for the Usher Art Gallery, Museum of Lincolnshire Life, The Drill, The Theatre Royal and much more. You were spot on with Curtis the cake shop, and the cafe at the International Bomber Command Centre does an amazing breakfast !!!

    I studied in Lincoln and mostly I enjoyed the evening ghost walk and the inside view of the cathedral.
    Went there by motorcycle. Quite sorry my time there was too short to adventure more. Friendly people, nice pubs. Still have a picture of the cathedral by night. Fond memories there

      Tom Hanks da Vinci Code was filmed in Lincoln. One ghost walk story was of a body guard who fell face forward, something got hold of both of his ankles...
      GB has so many wonderful places to visit:
      Coventry, Exeter, Leicester... Unfortunately, I need an ETA for my next visit. Until then, I put your vlogs on rerun.

    I lived in Lincoln for 3 years in my 20s with my husband ...we loved it. I remember one time i was pushing my toddler up steep hill in the snow and ice, ill never forget it , the snow was thick and stopping the wheels from turning. Those were the days 😊

      @@JJExtra if you travel down the A15 you will come across RAF Waddington's viewing area (where the Red Arrows are based) another must visit place would be Tattershall Castle which is a good place to view RAF Conningsby, perhaps I should be a tour guide of Lincolnshire, lol, ps don't for get St.Botolph's Church, Boston where the Pilgrim Fathers left from all those years ago

    Lived in Lincoln years now and the cathedral is probably the most stunning feature of Lincoln. You can get in for free some days although i dont think they post about it on any media or anything its just a case of turning up and walking round. The stained glass they have is great and a unique feature and as well as the area for quire singers and organ make it feel amazing and strange as you walk around and see all the gravestones, stained glass and separate worshiping areas. You can see it for miles as well, pretty much anywhere in the city minus a few minute walk to get buildings out the way.

    The cemetery is all the people who died in the prison and all them executed in the castle

  • @AndriyValdensius-wi8gw
    @AndriyValdensius-wi8gw 13 дней назад

    The prison was based on the Pentonville prison design. Prisoners weren't allowed to speak to each other and wore head coverings with shades covering their lateral fields of vision. Silence was enforced. It was like a permanent state of isolation. The only allowed reading was the bible. That's why the chapel has those little doors separating prisoners, to prevent communication. The system was a failure, because many inmates became insane. The East Pennsylvania Penitentiary in Philadelphia, is apparently also a Pentonville style prison. Al Capone was an inmate there for a while. He was mentally ill as well, although in his case itwas probably syphilis.

      PS You CAN walk into the Crown Court while a case is in progress (or you COULD back in the day.) I have sat in the public gallery on one occasion, in Lincoln Crown Court for about an hour. It was a long time ago (the 1980s). It was disappointingly boring. (Nobody gets sentenced to transportation or to be hung by the neck until they be dead etc. Unfortunately.) At least it's free. ☺️

    Lincoln person here, Lincoln is hardly THE prettiest city. There’s plenty of others - York, Winchester, Norwich… that could easily rival it.
    It’s beautiful, absolutely is. But it’s not number one in my opinion. As soon as you venture out of the uphill areas and walk down Steep Hill -> The Strait -> and finally, the high street beyond the Stonebow, it begins to get uglier… and uglier… and uglier until it appears as characterless as any other town or city.
    It’s a nice city though for sure and has a lot to offer tourists!
