You have such a lovely tight knit family and I love how you give thanks before your meals. I was very fortunate about 15 years ago to have the chance to sing in Lincoln Cathedral. When the choir boys and girls are on their school holiday breaks most cathedrals invite in ‘guest choirs’ to sing during their weekend services. I was a member of one of those choirs. We sang at the Saturday evensong, Sunday Mattins, Sunday Holy Communion and Sunday Evensong. That was a lot of singing and in between the services we walked up and down Steep Hill. I don’t think I’ve ever felt as tired as I did at the end of that weekend. Totally worth it though. Wonderful memories! We sang at a lot of other Cathedrals too. My favourite was Worcester. They were extra friendly and welcoming.
Thank you for visiting my home city glad you enjoyed it , if I’ve been away I feel the joy of seeing the Cathedral from miles away and knowing I will soon be home
I absolutely love Lincoln, old yet timeless and beauty wherever you look, its been a few years since I was there, I live just outside of Doncaster and between Doncaster and Lincoln there are and were many long airfields especially for aircraft coming back from Germany, these airfields were here because its mostly flat and wide open, it was the perfect place for wounded aircraft to come back to when missing critical parts such as rudders and undercarriage, they could land with relative safety, I know that Doncaster alone had at least 6 airfields where stricken craft could land as best they could, thankfully this isn't something that is particularly needed now. You always make such wonderful videos and it's so good to see you all together as a family, it shows that children are welcome and that you can see places of beauty and interest with children, your children are always so well behaved too, take care :)
Thank you so much for visiting and making a video of our lovely city! Grew up near Lincoln and now live in Troy NY - noticed the RPI sweatshirt - the reason our family move to the States. Lincoln is a phenomenal small city and the history is outstanding. People focus on York - which is also great- and pass up on Lincoln. I tell everyone you will not be disappointed if you visit (but yes Steep Hill is aptly named !) it is also the location of cute cafes in medieval buildings, and homes that have been lived in for 700 years so worth a slow climb if you can - or walk down from the castle and cathedral . Special place.
I love watching such a detailed and warm video on the city i've lived my entire life. If you are to come again, which i hope you do, i would recommend a visit to The Lawns, a park with a wonderful tapas bar and café. Along the same road there is also an underrated museum called "The Museum of Lincolnshire Life" with free entry
I have lived in and around Lincoln on and off throughout my life and to see you take such an interest in exploring it with your family was very enjoyable to watch.
My wife and I love Lincoln, we stay over once or twice every year and usually eat at Thailand no.1 (near bailgate and the cathedral), highly recommended.
Indeed, Lincoln is one of the hidden gems of England. Whenever I visit the UK, and whilst studying there many years ago, I learned that many smaller cathedral cities had more to offer visitors over less time than bigger, more popular centres, better known to tourists. I think you and your children would enjoy Wells, England's smallest city. Next, there's Ely (these two both boast schools founded over 1100 yrs ago). Hereford and Chester, Truro and Bangor (with a cathedral founded in the 6th century), and of course Winchester (England's capital until the 11th century) and Salisbury (the inspiration for Ken Follett's historical novels), each offer unique attraction. Enjoy them, and great cities further north, such as Sterling, Perth, Inverness, and if you can spare the travel time, the unique culture and atmosphere of Lerwick. You are enabling life-long memories for your children, for which thanks and blessings.
Glad you mentioned Bangor! The Cathedral is fairly modest, but many of the Welsh churches (and Irish and Scottish) were established long before those in England, apart from Cornwall.
Thank you so very much for your videos of my home city especially the Cathedral. I love my Cathedral. I have been visiting it from the time I was your children’s age. I love their enthusiasm and interest in everything. I am 79 now and live in a village near Lincoln and haven’t been able to visit since 2020. Your videos and family were a joy. The tour of the city was marvellous. My best wishes to you and your family.Happy New Year 2023
I live in Lincoln, really enjoyed your video, it’s great to see a visitor’s perspective as I have never done the tourist thing here, although I have done the castle and cathedral tours, they are really worth doing
I'm very lucky as I'm only 5 miles direct into the city centre and from the edge of my village I can see the cathedral in the horizon. It's a lovely friendly place and there's always something new to see and visit. I remember years ago my sister walked up one of the towers and boy did she know it the next day which aching legs! It's great you also appreciate what I can see and enjoy your various travels
I live near the marina in Lincoln. I’m lucky as it’s an apartment so I get to see the castle and cathedral from my window all lit up at night. The castle holds the Magna Carta and the cathedral is a thousand years old. Glad you liked your visit
By gum lad, I did enjoy accompanying you and the family around Lincoln. It's funny, but visitors seem to know what is important to see, do and visit. Thanks pal.
Enjoyed your trip round Lincoln. Yes it is a beautiful City. That's my home but you kept calling the river Witham a canal. Still I can forgive you that when I feel the joy coming from you.
I'm a Yellowbelly born and bred. Didn't realise how much I loved my home city until I lived away for a few years. It's basically a student town now, which has replaced the manufacturing industry Lincoln has gradually lost since the war era. Lovely to get an American's take on it. And nice to see so many people from all over the country and the world getting some enjoyment out of living here.
Lincoln has one of the best Christmas markets. A lot of German traders sell their traditional Christmas decorations. It’s very big and so busy you have to make an early start or park and ride. The cathedral also has a Christmas concert which is wonderful. I’d highly recommend it. I think you can book tickets for it. Great video again x
I love Lincoln with its castle just across the square from the cathedral. I went with my family for a few days a few years ago and didnt even go near the city centre, there was just so much to see. They certainly weren't wrong when they named the street Steep Hill.
The shop next to that sorbet place, Is a electrical shop, much more interesting. Its Been there since the 50s and they sell parts from aircraft like vulcan and Lancaster bombers. Which you can see in the window. Where the shopping center is, was once a cinema. The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix once played there
Wow…this really is Britain’a best kept secret because I’ve been living here all my life and had no idea Lincoln was so interesting! 😍 I love that you and your family are getting to explore some really great places here. I have lived in London most of my life (except for 3 years spent in the midlands) so I enjoy seeing life outside of the city. I absolutely love your filming style btw. These videos are really fun to watch and your commentary is great too. I learn so much about the place you’ve travelled to from these videos 😄

Lincoln as a city is over 2000 years old.. the body of water next to the university. The Brayford pool.. is what gives Lincoln its name .. being a roman settlement.. the Garrison name was Lindum Colonia Roman mean for the Pool Colony, Lindum Colonia was Abrevated to Lincoln.
Hi - I just watched you and your family's tour of Lincoln and so glad you managed to see inside the amazing cathedral. Just wanted to let you know that the "Harlequin" - a black and white Tudor style building about halfway down Steep Hill - was recently an antique bookshop, but prior to that it was a public house (bar) and my great uncle Fred Reynolds was the last landlord there. I am now 70yo and living in Perth, Western Australia, but my brother still lives in a village just out of Lincoln. Should you decide to visit Lincoln again, and I recommend that you do, please spend more time in the uphill area and visit Browns Pie Shop on Steep Hill and many of the shops etc in Bailgate. It's wonderful that your family are able to enjoy these experiences. Keep it up and enjoy. Warm regards to you and yours, David 🙂
i live in lincoln and its and beautiful city with lots of history so a good place to come if you are into history and we have a couple of museums as well
So many visitors to England just visit London - and maybe some other main hotpots like Bath, York, Stratford-upon-Avon. But a lot of the old provincial cathedral cities which are more off of the main tourist route are also very much worth seeing. Lincoln, for sure; but we could also mention Truro, Exeter, Winchester, Salisbury, Worcester, Canterbury...the list goes on...
Just a heads up, if you come back to lincoln, another treat for visitors that alot of people don't expect is the red arrows. They are based at RAF Waddington, which is just outside lincoln and they train on most days so when its a clear day you get to see them flying around, practicing and doing manoeuvres. Its quite a sight. Hope to see you soon in this beautiful city!
The place i travelled to from around 30 miles away to join up. (45yrs ago) the Cathedral is only around half its original height, it had a huge spire when first built.
My home ..so happy u had a lovely time ...the bridge on the canal is the oldest bridge in the UK with a building on it ..1160 it was built. The cathedral is amazing place to see as a family 👪.
Hi just enjoyed watching your family tour of Lincoln, I have lived in Lincolnshire all of my life & in Lincoln for the past 20 years, so glad you found our City so beautiful, as do I. You allowed me to see Lincoln as a visitor does, One does tend to take for granted the familiarity of a place. I have to agree with you that Lincoln is a very unique & beautiful City & well worth a visit. I have to add that there is a wonderful view of the Cathedral from Brayford way near the university.
Great video! We love Lincoln Cathedral. It’s one of our absolute favorites. We will be back in about a month, from the US, and this time, we are going to take the full tour. Last time we just walked through ourselves. Lots of hidden things in the walls there. It’s stunning! There’s a pie shop right as you go down steep hill from the cathedral. It’s on the right. If you return, you MUST MUST eat there. It’s the best food this American gal has ever had! Oh, and speaking of Steep Hill, my husband ran it one time!!! Ran it! I felt sorry for him for 6 weeks. Oh wait, that was 5 years ago, and I still feel sorry for him!!!! 😂😂😂
Well I am on the Lincolnshire coast and it was nice to see someone taking the kids out and treating them , well done, I'm sure they slept well that weekend
First time I’ve come across one of your videos- I’m actually from Lincoln and there are laws that mean buildings can only be built a certain height so the cathedral is visible from all parts of the city!!
I live 15 mins south of Lincoln! I’m glad you finally managed to get the kids up the hill to the castle. I hope you get to walk the battlements at some time. The views are fantastic. The Victorian pirison is an interactive museum so good for kids. The castle also houses a copy of the Magna Carta. We love living near Lincoln. It isn’t as full of things to do as York but a much nicer vibe than Nottingham and you can walk everywhere. Steep Hill is called Steep Hill for a reason but it’s 100% worth the climb and the market square, castle, cathedral and Bailgate area are all the best parts of the city. I much prefer exploring up there than down at the bottom, where you mostly were. There’s old Roman walls and archways to see and more unique, independent shops up that part of town. If you walk through the castle to the other side and cross the road, you’ll find a converted hospital called The Lawns. In there is a lovely cafe owned by the coffee company Stokes, which does fantastic brunches, and a great tapas restaurant, called Olé Olé. When you’re on The Straight (the bit that starts to incline, just before steep hill), turn right, just near Pizza Express and follow signs to The Collection Museum. It’s a free interactive museum about the history of Lincoln, especially about Vikings and Romans. If you’re over in Lincolnshire again, Tattershall Castle is a nice place to visit. It’s a National Trust property and it’s an unusual castle as it’s made of red brick, despite being mainly Tudor. Another good place to visit at Christmas is Doddington Hall (just a couple of minutes West of Lincoln, near the A46). This Elizabethan Manor house hosts an amazing set up where they dress the whole house for Christmas with every room a different theme. One year we went and it was different fairy tales, with a huge beanstalk up the main staircase, and another year, they’d set up Narnia! It is so well done and worth a visit. Also has a farm shop, two cafes, a Christmas bauble barn and gardens. Belton House is a national trust property just outside grantham. It has the big house you’d expect but it also has a huge outdoor play area in the woods that children love, including den making, a mini train, loads of climbing equipment etc.
Saw this video before going to visit my son in Lincoln , so I brought him to the Greek restaurant, the waitress remembered serving you , she recognised her arm in the video because of her bracelet !!!
Hi from Birmingham The county of Lincolnshire is great. Plenty of wonderful small towns and villages and you can visit the coastal town of Skegness. I visited Lincoln back in 1989 and again in 1994 and like you love the canal passing through the city. My late parents and I stayed at a hotel in a place called Woodhall Spa and went out on day trips for the week we were there. Went to RAF CONNINGSBY and visited The Petwood Hotel which was once home to 617 Squadron - The Dambusters.
About 5 years ago, my husband and I climbed into the roof of the Bell tower of Lincoln cathedral. A year later we went back and climbed onto the roof of the main tower. I was 68 and my husband was 70. Not bad for a couple of oldies. 🙂
Lincoln is one of my wife and I’s happy places. We live an hour away and go loads. We were there once, a few years ago, and we saw Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita, doing the ghost walk! He was there as some scenes for ‘The Da Vinci Code’ were filmed in the cathedral, standing in for the interior of Westminster Abbey. Great vid! You really did the place justice.

Thank you! Will do!
As a local I've always thought Lincoln was crap, so it's interesting to see people visiting
Thanks for the great suggestions. 👍🏾
You have missed York and Durham.
@@heatherboardman7004 The family did go to York already I believe.
Glad you mentioned Bangor! The Cathedral is fairly modest, but many of the Welsh churches (and Irish and Scottish) were established long before those in England, apart from Cornwall.
Don't forget Ripon.
I live in Lincoln & take it for granted - thanks for this - I'll certainly be more appreciative from now on 🤩🤩Thanks for visiting!
You made me feel homesick. I miss Lincoln. The joy of seeing the cathedral on the horizon, on a visit home to my parents' is indescribable.
Lincoln is my home town so thank you for showing Lincoln in a positive light ❤
I live about 20 miles away from Lincoln, it's a beautiful city. Wonderful to see you enjoying a place that means so much to me.
Lincoln castle has one of the remaining original copies of the Magna Carta, dating from 1215
Salisbury has another
By gum lad, I did enjoy accompanying you and the family around Lincoln. It's funny, but visitors seem to know what is important to see, do and visit. Thanks pal.
Glad you enjoyed it
Enjoyed your trip round Lincoln. Yes it is a beautiful City. That's my home but you kept calling the river Witham a canal. Still I can forgive you that when I feel the joy coming from you.
LOVE that you gave thanks for your food x
brilliant video tour of Lincoln great commentary and a grest family 😁
Thanks
I'm a Yellowbelly born and bred. Didn't realise how much I loved my home city until I lived away for a few years. It's basically a student town now, which has replaced the manufacturing industry Lincoln has gradually lost since the war era. Lovely to get an American's take on it. And nice to see so many people from all over the country and the world getting some enjoyment out of living here.
Long time since ive heard that term ‘yellow belly’ -me too.
Wonderful trip and experience. Thank you for sharing I loved it.❤️❤️❤️😍😍👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Not anymore, they're not doing it anymore
Oh, I laughed when you said '...Americans, we're loud!' 😂 Well, at least you have self-awareness, will be much appreciated I'm sure. Nice video 👏
My home City - lovely POV and walking tour showing off the best of beautiful Lincoln
Lincoln really is steeped in history. Steep hill and the bailgate are very nice.
I love Lincoln with its castle just across the square from the cathedral. I went with my family for a few days a few years ago and didnt even go near the city centre, there was just so much to see. They certainly weren't wrong when they named the street Steep Hill.
Lincoln Cathedral is so dominant that on a clear day you can see it from the top of Norton water tower in Sheffield, which is 45 miles away!
Lincoln has a pretty buzzing university as well.
Great enthusiasm as usual, the reason why we watch
I live here, and I'm glad you and your family visiting. And I hope you make it back to see inside the Cathedral
Great video really enjoyed it! Never been to Lincoln would definitely consider it now!! :)
You should!
The shop next to that sorbet place, Is a electrical shop, much more interesting. Its Been there since the 50s and they sell parts from aircraft like vulcan and Lancaster bombers. Which you can see in the window.
Where the shopping center is, was once a cinema. The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix once played there
Those are great details... thanks for sharing.
@9B4M The Family Adventures
Your welcome. It was a pleasure seeing you guys appreciate the city.
''The hill is starting to get pretty steep''......Lol, you ain't seen nothing yet! Great video, glad you enjoyed Lincoln!
So glad you found Steep Hill!
In Lincoln, it's a 'right of passage'!! 😲
It sure is!
Thank you. I am really glad you are enjoying the content... 😌
@@MacandBlair I was born in the UK and I'm trying to move back. I have illegal documents I don't know how I was moved away from England. But I believe I was 2 yrs old I was born in September 1989
@@MacandBlair do u know anyone who could help me like a Government office I don't know where the hospital I was born.
Lovely and informative. Beautiful family.
They've obviously kept up the Wharfeside shopping centre in good condition. I was born and grew up in Lincoln. It was built over thirty years ago.
Great list thanks...
I love Lincoln it has a great vibe 👌😘🇬🇧
Just a heads up, if you come back to lincoln, another treat for visitors that alot of people don't expect is the red arrows. They are based at RAF Waddington, which is just outside lincoln and they train on most days so when its a clear day you get to see them flying around, practicing and doing manoeuvres. Its quite a sight. Hope to see you soon in this beautiful city!
Thanks for the info!
@9B4MTheFamily great video man I was born there I am trying to come back. I prefer Lincoln but I have been homeless and I need a job there.
Our cathedral once had spires, making it the tallest building for 200 years..
So the bridge over the river witham on the high street also known as the glory hole is the oldest bridge in the country with a building on top of it
I loved your visit to Lincoln. Your children are cute and photogenic! The music you chose for the visit to the cathedral was sublime. Way to go, Mac.
Thank you so much!
Enjoyed thanks for the Tag along guys
Glad you enjoyed
1🤣
Lincoln is a wonderful city, I live 25 miles away but havnt been for ages
I'm so glad you pronounced Lincolnshire correctly as well 😆😆
Well I am on the Lincolnshire coast and it was nice to see someone taking the kids out and treating them , well done, I'm sure they slept well that weekend
We visit a lot from Sheffield we love Lincoln ❤
Lincoln ❤
Great to see you all in fine fettle. Love seeing your adventures.
Saw this video before going to visit my son in Lincoln , so I brought him to the Greek restaurant, the waitress remembered serving you , she recognised her arm in the video because of her bracelet !!!
Awesomeness 😎
hiya hope your well thankyou for representing my city in your vlog lincoln ❤ kind regards lee
Hi from Birmingham
The county of Lincolnshire is great.
Went to RAF CONNINGSBY and visited The Petwood Hotel which was once home to 617 Squadron - The Dambusters.
wow, anothe rgreat vid; love the positive vibe and your appreciatipon of GB and culture
About 5 years ago, my husband and I climbed into the roof of the Bell tower of Lincoln cathedral. A year later we went back and climbed onto the roof of the main tower.
I was 68 and my husband was 70. Not bad for a couple of oldies. 🙂
Not bad at all.
Lovely family, glad you guys are enjoying the UK.
Thank you! 😃
