Lincoln is my home town! Seeing this reaction video really makes me realise how much i take the City and cathedral for granted. You're right on how quiet it is. I always enjoy the peace and tranquility of Lincoln when i do go back, as i live near London these days. Great video, keep up the good work and well done for getting to the top of steep hill!
My home town too and the video opens right where a chunk of my family history is based back in the 1850's. I have only watched a few seconds but I can almost guarantee there will be dozens of buildings my family lived in or ran their businesses from right back from the 1850's to the present day.

So glad you enjoyed Lincoln! I studied here from 2013 to 2016, volunteered at the cathedral, and even slept just outside the cathedral for charity (very cold, but great fun!) Other things you can check out if you return are obviously the rest of the cathedral (you can take tours inside the roof and go outside onto the roof of the tallest of the towers) as well as the mediavel and wren libraries inside (the wren library designed by Sir Christopher Wren), the castle with the magna carta (one of only four remaining copies and the only one still at home in the city it was originally sent to) and it's prison, the Ellis mill windmill, and the museum of lincolnshire life which tells the story of Lincolnshire people and how Lincoln invented the tank! Nice to see American peeps enjoying my home town. I absolutely love Lincoln, old yet timeless and beauty wherever you look, its been a few years since I was there, I live just outside of Doncaster and between Doncaster and Lincoln there are and were many long airfields especially for aircraft coming back from Germany, these airfields were here because its mostly flat and wide open, it was the perfect place for wounded aircraft to come back to when missing critical parts such as rudders and undercarriage, they could land with relative safety, I know that Doncaster alone had at least 6 airfields where stricken craft could land as best they could, thankfully this isn't something that is particularly needed now. You always make such wonderful videos and it's so good to see you all together as a family, it shows that children are welcome and that you can see places of beauty and interest with children, your children are always so well behaved too, take care :)

I trained as a nurse in Lincoln in the mid 1960’s Love, love love the city. Many happy memories, especially The Adam and Eve pub. So many friends and great memories.
You have such a lovely tight knit family and I love how you give thanks before your meals. I was very fortunate about 15 years ago to have the chance to sing in Lincoln Cathedral. When the choir boys and girls are on their school holiday breaks most cathedrals invite in ‘guest choirs’ to sing during their weekend services. I was a member of one of those choirs. We sang at the Saturday evensong, Sunday Mattins, Sunday Holy Communion and Sunday Evensong. That was a lot of singing and in between the services we walked up and down Steep Hill. I don’t think I’ve ever felt as tired as I did at the end of that weekend. Totally worth it though. Wonderful memories! We sang at a lot of other Cathedrals too. My favourite was Worcester. They were extra friendly and welcoming.
The shop next to that sorbet place, Is a electrical shop, much more interesting. Its Been there since the 50s and they sell parts from aircraft like vulcan and Lancaster bombers. Which you can see in the window. Where the shopping center is, was once a cinema. The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix once played there
My wife and I love Lincoln, we stay over once or twice every year and usually eat at Thailand no.1 (near bailgate and the cathedral), highly recommended.
Indeed, Lincoln is one of the hidden gems of England. Whenever I visit the UK, and whilst studying there many years ago, I learned that many smaller cathedral cities had more to offer visitors over less time than bigger, more popular centres, better known to tourists. I think you and your children would enjoy Wells, England's smallest city. Next, there's Ely (these two both boast schools founded over 1100 yrs ago). Hereford and Chester, Truro and Bangor (with a cathedral founded in the 6th century), and of course Winchester (England's capital until the 11th century) and Salisbury (the inspiration for Ken Follett's historical novels), each offer unique attraction. Enjoy them, and great cities further north, such as Sterling, Perth, Inverness, and if you can spare the travel time, the unique culture and atmosphere of Lerwick. You are enabling life-long memories for your children, for which thanks and blessings.
Glad you mentioned Bangor! The Cathedral is fairly modest, but many of the Welsh churches (and Irish and Scottish) were established long before those in England, apart from Cornwall.
I love watching such a detailed and warm video on the city i've lived my entire life. If you are to come again, which i hope you do, i would recommend a visit to The Lawns, a park with a wonderful tapas bar and café. Along the same road there is also an underrated museum called "The Museum of Lincolnshire Life" with free entry
I live near the marina in Lincoln. I’m lucky as it’s an apartment so I get to see the castle and cathedral from my window all lit up at night. The castle holds the Magna Carta and the cathedral is a thousand years old. Glad you liked your visit
Greetings from the city of Lincoln, birth place of the Tank, home to the best Air display team in the world, the Red Arrows, saying that i've seen the Blue Angels afew times and i was very impressed, RAF Scampton was once the home to 617 squadron, the Dambusters, i've yet to try the Greek brothers restaurant in the city center and the first thing i will try is the moussaka, i love moussaka, i hope you're all settling in well and i must ask, have you got the hang of british comedy/sarcasm yet 🤣
I love Lincoln with its castle just across the square from the cathedral. I went with my family for a few days a few years ago and didnt even go near the city centre, there was just so much to see. They certainly weren't wrong when they named the street Steep Hill.
By gum lad, I did enjoy accompanying you and the family around Lincoln. It's funny, but visitors seem to know what is important to see, do and visit. Thanks pal.
Glad you loved our city, I moved to a pretty village just south of here 16 years ago and the quality of life here is second to none. Some of the food in the old country pubs in the surrounding villages (children always welcome) are worth a try also. Just want to say, what a lovely familiy you have. Lucky man!
Lincoln has one of the best Christmas markets. A lot of German traders sell their traditional Christmas decorations. It’s very big and so busy you have to make an early start or park and ride. The cathedral also has a Christmas concert which is wonderful. I’d highly recommend it. I think you can book tickets for it. Great video again x
Hi - I just watched you and your family's tour of Lincoln and so glad you managed to see inside the amazing cathedral. Just wanted to let you know that the "Harlequin" - a black and white Tudor style building about halfway down Steep Hill - was recently an antique bookshop, but prior to that it was a public house (bar) and my great uncle Fred Reynolds was the last landlord there. I am now 70yo and living in Perth, Western Australia, but my brother still lives in a village just out of Lincoln. Should you decide to visit Lincoln again, and I recommend that you do, please spend more time in the uphill area and visit Browns Pie Shop on Steep Hill and many of the shops etc in Bailgate. It's wonderful that your family are able to enjoy these experiences. Keep it up and enjoy. Warm regards to you and yours, David 🙂
Thank you for visiting my home city glad you enjoyed it , if I’ve been away I feel the joy of seeing the Cathedral from miles away and knowing I will soon be home
Grew up near Lincoln and now live in Troy NY - noticed the RPI sweatshirt - the reason our family move to the States. Lincoln is a phenomenal small city and the history is outstanding. People focus on York - which is also great- and pass up on Lincoln. I tell everyone you will not be disappointed if you visit (but yes Steep Hill is aptly named !) it is also the location of cute cafes in medieval buildings, and homes that have been lived in for 700 years so worth a slow climb if you can - or walk down from the castle and cathedral . Special place.
I'm very lucky as I'm only 5 miles direct into the city centre and from the edge of my village I can see the cathedral in the horizon. It's a lovely friendly place and there's always something new to see and visit. I remember years ago my sister walked up one of the towers and boy did she know it the next day which aching legs! It's great you also appreciate what I can see and enjoy your various travels
My home ..so happy u had a lovely time ...the bridge on the canal is the oldest bridge in the UK with a building on it ..1160 it was built. The cathedral is amazing place to see as a family 👪.
Just a heads up, if you come back to lincoln, another treat for visitors that alot of people don't expect is the red arrows. They are based at RAF Waddington, which is just outside lincoln and they train on most days so when its a clear day you get to see them flying around, practicing and doing manoeuvres. Its quite a sight. Hope to see you soon in this beautiful city!
I live in Lincoln, really enjoyed your video, it’s great to see a visitor’s perspective as I have never done the tourist thing here, although I have done the castle and cathedral tours, they are really worth doing
The place i travelled to from around 30 miles away to join up. (45yrs ago) the Cathedral is only around half its original height, it had a huge spire when first built.
I have lived in and around Lincoln on and off throughout my life and to see you take such an interest in exploring it with your family was very enjoyable to watch.
So many visitors to England just visit London - and maybe some other main hotpots like Bath, York, Stratford-upon-Avon. But a lot of the old provincial cathedral cities which are more off of the main tourist route are also very much worth seeing. Lincoln, for sure; but we could also mention Truro, Exeter, Winchester, Salisbury, Worcester, Canterbury...the list goes on...
Hi from Birmingham The county of Lincolnshire is great. Plenty of wonderful small towns and villages and you can visit the coastal town of Skegness. I visited Lincoln back in 1989 and again in 1994 and like you love the canal passing through the city. My late parents and I stayed at a hotel in a place called Woodhall Spa and went out on day trips for the week we were there. Went to RAF CONNINGSBY and visited The Petwood Hotel which was once home to 617 Squadron - The Dambusters.
First time I’ve come across one of your videos- I’m actually from Lincoln and there are laws that mean buildings can only be built a certain height so the cathedral is visible from all parts of the city!!
I love Lincoln live just a 30 minute drive from there in a small town called Louth such an amazing atmosphere across the whole county if you get the chance take a drive through the Lincolnshire wolds amazing countryside and so peaceful
I’m from Cleethorpes and am proud of Lincolnshire, we live in such a peaceful beautiful County. But 🤫 don’t tell too many people, it’s good that it’s unknown and quiet for the people who live here 😊
Great to see my city on RUclips thank you. A very special & important part of UK history yet not many people know the stories. The dambusters where from Lincoln, the tank was invented here,a city the Romans couldn't take,a cathedral that was once the tallest building in the world and much more. There's still more for you to see guy's so you must come back again. We have an incredible art gallery a museum and a war museum that shows how the tank came to be by chance from farmers. Our pre Roman history and post Roman history museum is a joy & the "bailgate" area where the cathedral is has a lot more to see too. Happy to give you a guided tour if you ever come back ,thanks for the video too, great to see Lincoln being appreciated.✌🏼&💙
Another top video, I've been through Lincoln on a train but you have seen much more of Britain than a lot of the natives myself included. That massive chuch is nearly a 1000 years old, imagine transporting the stone & building materials a 1000 years ago up that hill. I hope they got some time off,but I doubt it!
Great video! We love Lincoln Cathedral. It’s one of our absolute favorites. We will be back in about a month, from the US, and this time, we are going to take the full tour. Last time we just walked through ourselves. Lots of hidden things in the walls there. It’s stunning! There’s a pie shop right as you go down steep hill from the cathedral. It’s on the right. If you return, you MUST MUST eat there. It’s the best food this American gal has ever had! Oh, and speaking of Steep Hill, my husband ran it one time!!! Ran it! I felt sorry for him for 6 weeks. Oh wait, that was 5 years ago, and I still feel sorry for him!!!! 😂😂😂
Have lived in Lincoln for 15 years. Got to say it was great to see you enjoying it, you may recognise some images of the cathedral in Joaquin Pheonix's most recent film about Napoleon. Some scenes where filmed in Lincoln and my Daughter was disapointed she missed him as he is her favourite actor since his take on the Joker.
Wow…this really is Britain’a best kept secret because I’ve been living here all my life and had no idea Lincoln was so interesting! 😍 I love that you and your family are getting to explore some really great places here. I have lived in London most of my life (except for 3 years spent in the midlands) so I enjoy seeing life outside of the city. I absolutely love your filming style btw.
Thank you! Will do!
Wonderful trip and experience. Thank you for sharing I loved it.❤️❤️❤️😍😍👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
So the bridge over the river witham on the high street also known as the glory hole is the oldest bridge in the country with a building on top of it
I was in Lincoln myself a few days ago for the first time, I was so impressed! It's beautiful, amazing architecture and so clean.
I live near the marina in Lincoln. I’m lucky as it’s an apartment so I get to see the castle and cathedral from my window all lit up at night. The castle holds the Magna Carta and the cathedral is a thousand years old. Glad you liked your visit
Great enthusiasm as usual, the reason why we watch
Greetings from the city of Lincoln, birth place of the Tank, home to the best Air display team in the world, the Red Arrows, saying that i've seen the Blue Angels afew times and i was very impressed, RAF Scampton was once the home to 617 squadron, the Dambusters, i've yet to try the Greek brothers restaurant in the city center and the first thing i will try is the moussaka, i love moussaka, i hope you're all settling in well and i must ask, have you got the hang of british comedy/sarcasm yet 🤣
Still working on the comedy...
Thanks pal.
Glad you enjoyed it
Glad you loved our city, I moved to a pretty village just south of here 16 years ago and the quality of life here is second to none. Some of the food in the old country pubs in the surrounding villages (children always welcome) are worth a try also.
Just want to say, what a lovely familiy you have. Lucky man!
Thank you
Lincoln has one of the best Christmas markets. A lot of German traders sell their traditional Christmas decorations. It’s very big and so busy you have to make an early start or park and ride. The cathedral also has a Christmas concert which is wonderful. I’d highly recommend it. I think you can book tickets for it. Great video again x
Not anymore, they're not doing it anymore
My home City - lovely POV and walking tour showing off the best of beautiful Lincoln
We visit a lot from Sheffield we love Lincoln ❤
Lincoln ❤
I live in Lincoln & take it for granted - thanks for this - I'll certainly be more appreciative from now on 🤩🤩Thanks for visiting!
Thanks for the info!
@9B4MTheFamily great video man I was born there I am trying to come back. I prefer Lincoln but I have been homeless and I need a job there.
As a local I've always thought Lincoln was crap, so it's interesting to see people visiting
They've obviously kept up the Wharfeside shopping centre in good condition. I was born and grew up in Lincoln. It was built over thirty years ago.
I live in Lincoln, really enjoyed your video, it’s great to see a visitor’s perspective as I have never done the tourist thing here, although I have done the castle and cathedral tours, they are really worth doing
Lincoln is my home town so thank you for showing Lincoln in a positive light ❤
The place i travelled to from around 30 miles away to join up. (45yrs ago) the Cathedral is only around half its original height, it had a huge spire when first built.
So glad you found Steep Hill!
In Lincoln, it's a 'right of passage'!! 😲
It sure is!
Great list thanks...
Lincoln Cathedral is so dominant that on a clear day you can see it from the top of Norton water tower in Sheffield, which is 45 miles away!
Lincoln really is steeped in history. Steep hill and the bailgate are very nice.
I live about 20 miles away from Lincoln, it's a beautiful city. Wonderful to see you enjoying a place that means so much to me.
Our cathedral once had spires, making it the tallest building for 200 years..
The cathedral was actaully the tallest building in the world at one point! Many many many many years ago!
used to live in Spalding Lincs .abot an hour away on the train that hill is something but then we found the little bus
Hi from Birmingham
The county of Lincolnshire is great.
This is my hometown and 0:28 was my secondary school! Fantastic video :)
Great place, too many non binary there sadly
Lincoln is a wonderful city, I live 25 miles away but havnt been for ages
I'm so glad you pronounced Lincolnshire correctly as well 😆😆
Charming presentation

I love Lincoln live just a 30 minute drive from there in a small town called Louth such an amazing atmosphere across the whole county if you get the chance take a drive through the Lincolnshire wolds amazing countryside and so peaceful
I’m from Cleethorpes and am proud of Lincolnshire, we live in such a peaceful beautiful County. But 🤫 don’t tell too many people, it’s good that it’s unknown and quiet for the people who live here 😊
@@cloverite with the amount of new builds round by the a16 it’s only a matter time 😞
Lovely family, glad you guys are enjoying the UK.
Thank you! 😃
Love my local city...love seeing ot through a visitor's eyes too ❤
Go and visit Litchfield Cathedral, great town as well, also there is a roman ruins just before you got to the town, not far from Birmingham.
1🤣
Glad you got to go inside. Some cathedrals and churches allow brass rubbing, which your children might enjoy. Just need paper and a soft crayon.
These videos are really fun to watch and your commentary is great too. I learn so much about the place you’ve travelled to from these videos 😄
Thank you. I am really glad you are enjoying the content... 😌
@@MacandBlair I was born in the UK and I'm trying to move back. I have illegal documents I don't know how I was moved away from England. But I believe I was 2 yrs old I was born in September 1989

You should visit the beautiful St Giles estate, take a stroll through the magnificent ermine and finish off with a picnic on the wecky.
Thanks for the tips!
