I guess for the inevitable comments, I wasn't aware that Coven was pronounced differently until after the review was recorded. I probably should have looked it up, but I took my reviewers word for it that I was saying it right when we were in the recording session. Can't do much about this now sadly.

I'd have said it like "Covern" like yourself. You'll always have those people that point it out and be a nob about it. EDIT: I also might as well ask, hows the replay value in comparison to disgaea?
After about an 80 or so hour campaign there is a lot of stuff to do post game.

Pretty sure we'll get it in a year or two. I'd say, 2019 seems extremely likely.
If you can handle EO this isn't too bad. The dungeons aren't as complex as EOs imo. It's mostly the combat that needs a good learning haha.
Fax this game high key looks like etrian odyssey minus the legendary part though

Got the LE on the Switch, and it's easily top 5 on my all-time list for originality, humor, and smoothness. It is just a nicely polished product~ Bravo!

EO is a classic and probably the deepest on the market even tho on my DS I prefer things like Strange Journey. Anyhow these are all traditional DRPGs while Mary Skelter I find more innovative if less refined (it's IF's 1st attempt). I also personally prefer MS's music and artwork I have to say. I am in my 40s, I played Eye of the beholder as a kid and I am a huge Might&Magic fan so I obviously like EO as well ;).
Mary Skelter is 1-2 rank for me in this type of game follow by this game and dungeon traveler 2

So many great games that we have been drowning in ;-; I still have to dive into Dragon Quest XI
I am about 30 hours in to this now (less than halfway still I guess) and I've been enjoying customizing my puppet army with overall pretty enjoyable exploration, epic boss fights and exploration. The anime/visual novel story bits are fine to keep your interest and I think hint at probable plot twists later. My party (brigade) size is around 30 guys now, each with their own equipment, stat growths, personality type. etc... XD

Having played all of the Etrian Odyssey games, I think I might have to give this a closer look.
First 5 minutes of the video and I already know that I have to get it.
I really enjoyed Etrian Odyssey series on the 3DS and Demon Gaze on the vita. Can't wait to play this one.
As a big fan of the Etrian Odyssey series, this was an automatic day one buy.

I love it. You'll feel overleveled when fighting trash, and underleveled when fighting bosses though.

@@ZenXeno1 I do. As a matter of fact, I take all pronunciation and grammar seriously. I guess that’s the difference between myself and the mass ignorance that plagues the internet, and on a larger scale: the entire world.
Glad to see that this turned out well. I was wanting to buy another First Person Dungeon Crawler for a while and that first one that came to switch looked...not that good...
If you have a 3DS, also check out the Etrian Odyssey series. (Only play hard mode, normal is actually easy mode)

Oh you forgot to mention that repairing your puppet requires various grades of parts and that their grade will determine how much repairs will cost.
Any idea if the player can turn the music off and just have ambient sounds?
I played through the demo expecting nothing more than an Etrian Odyssey clone (Mostly because that's the only game in this genre I'm even slightly familiar with), but I got so much more out of it!
I'm definitely picking the full game up whenever I get the chance!
There are way too many games I want on Switch (And some on 3DS, including Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold).

It definitely feels and even looks a bit like EO, but with enough twists and changes (just the fact that you have "squads" of characters per slot, instead of 5 character slots total) to make it look fun and fresh.
I saw this game around but didn't know it was a drpg, i love those kind of games! I might pick this up when I got the time.

Man I'm split about this. I know I already own the TWTHK and Disgaea-series, but problem is that part of me really wants to buy and check this one while part of me is skeptical about DRPG and lack of character models in battle (only DRPG I've played before is Touhou Genso Wanderer and that had the models and franchise I already was familiar of). I also like the character designs in this like in other NIS games. I mean as TRPG-nut, it has that DnD-ish feel, atmosphere and feeling of mystery while in dungeons which I appreciate, but still.
Man I used to download cracked games and tried this one, now I buy games legally and I can't forget about this game ever since! Only play not even halfthrough,now it's on switch I bought it last week

I could not help thinking about a certain game "The Witch and The Hundred Knight" the first time I played it.

Im playing this... But frankly speaking I haven't finished a NIS game since disgaea. Pretty much a tradition for me
I've put hundreds of hours in the disgaea games and haven't finished them... There's just so much RPG haha.

After the third "baba,yaga" Spun one helluva dr.seus.
I need help with Verdant Phenom. Most of my puppets are 46-49, my support ones that can't be attacked are only in their 20s. I entered the garden and uncovered both sections, Bare Flower and Mutton all at once in 1 try. I found the Laibodon... boss monster and I am back at the starting gate. I know it's locked, and I very well could probably kill Laibodon boss but I am totally out of MP, my Reinforcement is 20, and I'm almost exactly maxed of Mana, I just want to exit and save and come right back with full MP to attempt the boss. I guess there is no way to exit safely without committing suicide now and losing most things? I swear NIS hates it's customers, sometimes taking things to extreme. Once I was a few steps from the 1 teleport to the safe antichamber walkway and I was over charged in Mana and a perfectly normal mob turned into the Reaper boss and there was no escaping it, I tried 2 whole turns before being wiped instantly.
I think I want to play this game..

I actually like the game because of the voice cast and the type of jrpg game strategy it is and I do recommend it I'm actually still playing the demo myself because I'm broke and I don't have 50 to $60 to buy it

I kinda like Etrian gameplay but there is something I dont like about it that I dony like that is why I dont play them I also played PQ and Persona 1 so I have a little experience to 1st person dungeon crawlers.

I played the demo and love how charming the characters and story are, except for the molester nun.
Nevah, Has a shit been placed square enix in your hands with the soul purpose of getting the sqeeze and been so faithfully enjoyed: The remorse of this 1-Legged standing is outright depressing to hell.
I don't get any of the puppet creation stuff, sounds too complicated. Can this game be finished without getting to deep into this whole system?

I'm almost finished watching a complete lets play of this on TheTwitGamer's channel. I dislike the chinsy graphics and battle animations but I like the cinematics and story. I like NIS humor and animation. I'm mostly watching it for the story while playing f2p games durring the dungeoning parts.
I cannot recommend first person dungeon rpg's for myself but from my reading there are plenty of people who DO like these kind of games.
All finished watching the complete lets play. My opinion has not changed.
Ahh. Nothing "needlessly" complex about Disgaea 5. Lots and lots and lots of things you "can" do.
Very few things you ~"have to" do.

Im pretty sure because of Disgaea 5 and a little dabbling in older Disgaea games.
Sure it's texty but the amount of freedom you can do in the dungeon like breaking the walls etc, is enough for me.
I love games that lets me break them, without feeling like youre bound to a certain rule or locked content and needs to progress the story.
Speaking of the story, sure, Dronya grinds my gear with the child abusive behavior and i dont find it funny.
Good thing im not a snowflake and can take it a lot more. Story is good btw
A wonderfull desgaea branch off- Shit in the haystack timestake storyline, Just try not to get lucky or have luck for heavens sake it truly only good once.
But was it censored to all hell? Also does the translation suck?
The demo has Bloodborne lesbians so... I don't think anything was censored.

I didn't like it as much as disgaea type nis games unfortunately. Loved characters and story sure but this combat system isn't quite as thought provoking as disgaea for me.
The systems seem really interesting but that first person view ruins it for me, I guess I'll just buy disgaea 5... Unless is there a better one? Anyone?

OMG NIS makes the most confusing, convoluted games.
I like the art style of Disgaea, but I could never get past the impenetrable combat and growth systems.
They feel more like math homework than fun for me.
I tried Labyrinth's demo and watched this video and I'm still SOOOOOOOOO lost.
Never mind, NIS. I'll go elsewhere for fun. =(

Huge plus not mentioned: You can make 3 different flavors of shota tomgirl dancer characters. If that's not masterpiece material there's just no pleasing you
Great art work. Love the anime design characters. However im just not a fan of the gameplay. Could of done it like dragon quest or maybe fire emblem sort of gameplay.

got iton my switch not regret buying it except for the bad luck whit gettign crit byt he weakest mobs and having to spend money to repair my dols :/ that beign said i got the star pact rly early game by waisting a witch bell int he first wall of the first dungeon you can break adn by tryign to bypass to one hit kill enemies thata re too strong for you at that time XD

jin adachi The writing seems to be above average, and the option for Japanese audio and English subs is in this game.
I played the demo and thought the plot was okay. Not great, not terrible. The witch's assistant Luca is pretty cringy though. She's an ultra-high-pitched voiced girl doing stereotypical things.
That's why I switched to Japanese audio.

Meh, the gameplay looks incredibly boring even for rpg standards. It's a shame cause I really like the character designs for the puppets, I thought this game was gonna play similar to disgaea or final fantasy tactics.
