Seen these guys in Norman Oklahoma back in 1982. They dropped like 20,000 ping pong balls from the ceiling at the end of their set. I'll never forget that show.
i was in 2nd row. thought the sound mix was off and sounded too distorted. guitars were too loud and i couldn't hear the vocals very well. my buddy clocked it at 121 decibels. they blew the F off that place. we clocked Priest at 105 a few days later so SAXON was really pumped up. thought the mix for Uriah was better. was happy to see these legends!

Absolutely fantastic. Saw them back in 79 when they open for Motörhead during the Overkill/ Bomber tour at and they were just releasing their debut album…Legend has it that Lemmy almost threw them out because they were drinking tea w biscuits and not partying like them. 😂😂😂

His old colleague (Steve Dawson, ex Bass player) has just been sent to prison for r*ping a 7 year old girl in the mid nineties...hope he rots in jail. Out of the current band, Nigel Glockler has been there since 1981, Nibbs Carter since 1988, Doug Scarett Since 2005 and Brian Tatler joined to replace Paul Quinn this year as he retired playing long tours. They sound just as good now as they did back in the day. The last 6 albums have been strong to excellent.

After all these year Saxon has remained true to the shred. They have influenced so many guitarists and bands, rock for life!
They were never a "shred" type of band imo. The guitar solos are generally never like that with Saxon, more bluesy and oldschool rock oriented.
I have a lot of respect for this band
