Sidebar, the Montrose band went with Sammy when Ronnie broke up the band..Bill "The Electric" Church, bass, Denny Carmassi, drums. He picked up Gary Pihl, guitar who went to Boston when he joined Van Halen. Denny went to Heart when they got signed to Capitol.
Regarding discussion of Fitz at 42:59, I saw him play keys for Sammy opening for Boston in '79 with an extended solo opening "Young Girl Blues", just as it was on the live '78 "All Night Long" LP; so presumably he played keys with Sammy from about '76-'79 (credited on '76 "(Red)" LP but not '79 "Street Machine").
Fun fact: Sammy did a couple of these Donovan covers at the request of his original wife, Betsy--a fan of Donovan, to counter-balance Sammy's proclivity for sci-fi tunes such as Silver Lights & Station #5.
I just adore MikeyMojo! The combo of the two of you reviewing the concert with such passion and positivity is awesome! It made me grab my phone and go look for tickets in the nearest city. Alas, I won't be attending in Dallas (too far for me) but I will live vicariously through the two of you and others who are putting up footage. I hope you both get to go again and I wish you could meet up in L.A. to do so. Wouldn't that be amazing??? I have been watching the NJ show on YT and Mikey is so dead on with his rundown. Thank you both for coming at this from all angles and really giving an honest and uplifting review. Kudos to Sammy, Mikey, Jason and the one and only Satch! Long Live King Edward! ❤🖤🤍🎸👑
I caught the show in CT and it was awesome, fun and great to see this band play! I knew Joe would pull his parts together yet do Ed's parts justice. I'd live to see the show again. Yes, Joe nailed that 5150 tone!
Hey guys great show, just caught the Toronto show super hot and Sammy was outstanding, the band was tight and loved hearing those songs again. Budweiser stage was packed 15,000 plus . Joe was a pro. Love to go see them Again!! 👊😎👊
I'm going to the Phoenix show. I watched the first two shows, and Sammy's voice and the tempos worried me. But by the 3rd show....Atlanta was on fire, and Sammy's voice was strong. It did bring the feeling of 91.
Im most impressed with Jason s..drumming..he does it justice..not swinging like alex but his time is on point...Sammy to me was over doing it with unnesssary screaming...but as front man hes under pressure ...and its his show
Going to see the show this weekend, and can’t wait! And I agree this may be the last time we get to hear these songs live! I hope not, but you just never know! And lets be honest, their will never be another Edward Van Halen, but Joe is fully capable of doing the songs justice and for one, I hope the guitar parts aren’t note for note the way Eddie did them. I’d rather here Joe do them justice than try and copy Eddie note for note
Yeah, that was great seeing Hagar and the guys on Howard Stern a little while back. I didn’t notice anything unusual, they just went for the impromptu jam of Mean Street. Satriani’s tone was gnarly, his guitar looked pretty killer too. The haters complaining, are probably just a bunch of guys that don’t even play, ha ha. 😝🤘🏻🇺🇸🎸
Great interview! I'm glad the boys still got it. I saw VH with Hsgar in 1986 at Alpine Valley in East Troy, WI. I then saw DLR with Steve Vai in 1988, in Austin, TX. Yea, there were at least 20K people at the Alpine Valley show!
Sammy Hagar is the weakest link, his vocals are weak. Mikey & Joe Satriani are doing a great Job......its not Eddie, but it's done lovingly & respectfully. Jason is great but it lacks the swing ......needs a more triplet feel. Its great for the fans but I won't pay to see it

@@hollylewis5302 thanks Holly!
Thanks Holly!!!
Proof that rock n roll keeps you young..Sammy and Mikey are in there 70s and satch is in his 60s and they can still get it done.

Van Halen DLR era sold 54,100,000 albums total
Van Hagar sold 24,355,000 albums total
And 25 million of those albums were sold after Sammy joined the band.
People went back and bought them. So.....thank Sammy.

Awesome dudes! Looking forward to seeing a couple shows myself.

Going tomorrow and can't wait.
Have fun!!!
Great talk. Thank you both!
I have tickets for the Forum show can’t wait hoping Alex Dave or Wolfie show up since they all live here in LA

Lol! Joe probably wasn't coordinated enough to do the 'walk' together with Mike and Sammy.
It's "MIKEYMOJO" said in the UTB style!!!
