- It's another Sammy Hagar Van Halen outing at the Tampa Fairgrounds as the The Best Of All Worlds tour came through on Sunday, July 14, 2024. Sammy, Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani, Jason Bonham, and Rai Thistlethwayte played a setlist spanning the career of Sammy Hagar, including many Van Halen songs that had not been played live in years. Awesome show and a great way to get closure after the passing of Eddie Van Halen in 2020.

I was at that show too and glad it didn't get cancelled by lightning. Long time VH fan but never got around to seeing them live. Once it was announced with Satriani I knew this was the closest I would get. My favorite part at 32:06 "Eddie can do it!" Great show!

Yes, closer to the end than most of us thought...Sammy doesn't seem to have much left in him vocally...seemed to have happened rather quickly/suddenly..of course he lost power and range gradually over the last few years and had to tune it down a notch or two, but he still sounded good...now he seems to be barely able to pull it off..sad indeed...I actually thought Sammy would defy age and keep his voice to the very end....
I hope I sound this great at 76. Wow! And you’re exactly right - this is about having fun with these great songs. And how can you not? This band is great.

We went to the West Palm Show it was great and agreed its closure Sammy said it best at the end of our show...."Its just Mike and I trying to keep this alive" Joe did an amazing job , Jason and Rai also.
He said the same at our show and this tour definitely is keeping the music alive. There are just too many songs that bring joy to VH fans that we haven't heard live in a long time. Agreed on the band sounding amazing as well.
Looks like Joe was killin it. I think Eddie would be happy. Can you imagine them both at the same time. 🤯🤯
Band and Hagar's vocals were fantastic, they looked like they were having an absolute blast and you can tell it was such a fun gig 👍
I think that was Mary's first comment as well about the band just looking like they were having a great time. If this was the end for his shows in the area, it was an amazing way to go out.
They played the best song of all ‘ there’s only one way to rock !!!!!’
Finally, someone got it right. This isn’t about a money grab. All the guys on that stage have enough cash. it takes a lot of energy to get out there at that age and play those shows. This is the celebration of a career that spans 50 years.
It’s about playing these songs(maybe for the last time) and having fun.
I've seen comments saying Sam didn't mention Eddie at all and that this tour is all about his ego, but your video showed him giving a lot of praise to Eddie. I think he and Mike just want what was created with Van Halen to continue on.
Sammy did reference Eddie (and VH overall) a few times. I definitely think he wanted to keep the music alive with the tour.

It's a despicable cash grab and Sammy should be ashamed after all the trashing of EVH...they should have played Montrose, all Solo Red Rocker stuff, chckenfoot, Satch stuff and left the VH alone...sound like crap on it as well...EVH rules!

Was in the lawn, was soaked but still had a fantastic time. VH forever!!!
I was there, it was great!!! I saw Sammy last year at the Strawberry Festival and it was fine, fun short show. But with Satch and good sound and production, this show was definitely next level. They were having so much fun, how about that energy at 76? I have never seen Satriani live before, what a treat. I loved the little extra rifs from other songs he threw in.
I am lucky enough to live only a few exits away and didn't leave the house until the message went out they opened the doors. I would love them at Rockville, but that'll probably not happen.
Styx and Foreigner on Saturday and Halestorm/I Prevail on August 1st.

Every time I've seen Sammy, whether Van Halen or Chickenfoot, you could always tell that they were having fun playing...
They do always look like they're having a great time.
I met Sammy once and we chatted for a bit. A genuinely nice guy.

I was there with my 14 year old daughter. I told her that she was seeing a piece of history. I drove about 3 hours and got there right after the downpour stopped. I thought the show was great.
Sammy's one constant is that he has fun playing for the fans. Yeah he's said some things he regrets over the years - particularly when he and the VH boys were at odds. But he's owned it and has made amends and wanted the fans to get another chance to remember how amazing the VH catalog is, and honestly he couldn't have picked better mates to showcase that. I'm sure Ed would approve. Instead of constantly bitching about it like DLR... Sammy's delivering for the fans. And also unlike DLR Sammy can still perform. CHEERS!

Great video! Well done. I saw Van Halen back in the 80s with Dave and then later at the Van Halen monsters of Rock tour with Sammy. I love both shows but as the years have gone by it's clear that Sammy's still a rockstar and Dave is some kind of weirdo. It's obvious that Sammy Hagar is still going strong at 76 and sounds great unlike Dave. If this was a farewell for Sammy it was a good one! Great show thanks for sharing this video! 😎

I saw Sammy Hagar's Van Halen in September 2004 in Tampa when I was going to college at USF at the time. It was a great show even with Eddie's not so great playing. I am catching this 2024 tour in Dallas next month August 22. I cannot wait!

Super pumped for “space station no 5”, but the VH selections spot on curious if theyll swap out one or two as the tour goes…still waiting years to hear Cabo Wabo live. Awesome for him to do roth era stuff too, bringing it full circle. Awesome video as always.

Hey Kyle, Great video and much like you I'm a fan of all incarnations of the band including Gary. I saw every lineup except DLR with Michael Anthony. I just turned 50 last year and got into the band with 1984. Its bittersweet as the tour represents a last hurrah. I have some wonderful memories tied to the band and music. I think my only critique would be Sam's unwillingness over the years to sing a few more DLR tunes other than the usuals. It sucks that we didnt get that kitchen sink tour that Wolf talked about. That would have been epic. Long live the mighty VH.

I wished I had gone but, I saw Loverboy wasn't listed on where I was looking on their tour schedule for Tampa. I was also looking at getting the yard seats at the last minute and I had never been to the venue and I saw that wicked lightning storm come. The storm was probably worse in Pinellas County. I didn't want to get wet and I was thinking the people that purchased yard tickets were getting drenched. I am glad you shared the show and I appreciate it! Going to the Vegas show. Never got to see VH in any iteration. With Eddie gone and Alex no longer wanting to play, this is the best we have. Things will never be the same but this should be awesome.

But, as well as what seemed like another "GAZILLION," but probably closer to a "hundred or so" up on stage, as a *_"touring_** drummer!!"* And, I still (in the "modern era,") don't have that same feeling of (concert) "nostalgia" anymore, because the one "missing ingredient," despite it's coming on like a hurricane, in a "very legal way," and at the very least, W/regards to "smoking," 🤔 "marijuana smoke!!" Or "any smoke" for that matter, I mean I look around at your concert footage, *AND BY THE WAY, THANK YOU **_"BROTHERMAN"_** FOR RECORDING THIS SHOW, AND DOING ANYTHING ELSE REQUIRED, (i.e. editing, etc.) IN ORDER FOR YOU TO POST THIS SHOW!! ANYWAY.., I LOOK AROUND, AND I DON'T "SEE IT," YA KNOW, "BILLOWING," "PLUMES OF SMOKE," BECAUSE THERE IS NONE, which also includes the "sweet pungent smell" of the same!! *Mind you, I haven't used anything "CANNABIS" in over 27 years,* but it was so much a "part of my identity as a musician" or "concert goer," that not seeing those "plumes," it is just plain old "weird" 😅...!!!
