    Let me know if you think if I should get rid of my beard or just clean it up a bit ... what a mess.

    • @jeffspinner6579
      @jeffspinner6579 4 года назад +1

      Ha! There are many more factors than you may think about doing what with the beard. Those include but are not limited to:
      1) Do you want to keep women away? When I was in grad school and I wanted women to leave me alone, I grew a beard. Then I messed it up and started to play my unamp'd guitar in a corner of the campus, and that was the end of that.
      2) Do you want to not be targeted by some forms of religious fanatics? Keeping the beard but trimming it just a little differently could save your life. I did that for a while here in NYC to see if people noticed. Experiment was inconclusive. I think I needed better suited clothes.
      3) How much money to you want to spend on razors? I've found it's not insignificant, until you get stuff like dollar razor club or something.
      In the end, most people judge people by the way the look only because most people have the brainpower of a goldfish and less of an attention span, so it is what it is. There has to be google analytics on beard/no beard channels by type and gender (sic). The hard part is getting access to those analytics.

    One other thing of note is that blender will do some color management by default, so if you want an unaltered picture you should change that from filmic to standard, although for most renders like this it's probably not necessary.

    17:23 not having an image view editor during render can save one or two seconds per frame. With cycles this is not that noticeable because cycles are minutes per frame, but rendering with eevee it makes a huge difference cutting render times in half or even more.

    Hey! Very cool video! :),
    Just in case it's work, for your camera framing, check in maya your "Camera Aperture (mm)" in film back tab and if you are same value in blender inside your camera properties>camera tab> sensor Fit (choose horizontal)> and you can see if it's match
    I'm not sure if it's that but you can try :)

    Awesome! Could you also record how to render with textures from the rig and with PBR? Thanks!

    • @lucianomunoz
      @lucianomunoz  4 года назад +2

      On the one hand that particular rig, has no textures, but just as I showed with the "record", if the character has textures and Uv's you just have to connect them the same way.
      but this is as far as I'll go into lighting since this is more of a lighting primer for animators more than a lighting focused channel, sorry about that!
      but there are hundreds of channels teaching lighting and not many teaching and showing stuff directed at animators :)

    As a medium term goal, I'd suggest UE4 as the realtime render engine. So far at 4 months now, I can get most of what I want out of UE4. The limiting factor atm was rigging Darth Vader. I had to do a custom rig and it's almost finished. I didn't make all the drivers and custom shapes yet, but I do have him practicing his force chokes.
    The issue with rigify was the cape and skirt. I couldn't find anywhere a way to understand how rigging them together or separately would work, and rigify and ARP would fail making vertex groups, though I may try again, because after learning how to make a custom rig, I may see something I didn't before, and/or create empty vertex groups instead and assign them myself...idk if "some bones failed" means it won't make empty groups too (!)

    • @lucianomunoz
      @lucianomunoz  4 года назад +4

      Well the point of this video is to just encourage and show animators that a little goes a long way for presenting their work a little better, that's it. And also at the same time dipping their toes into blender can aid them to then do stuff like maybe learn grease pencil or even animate a shot in blender... But unreal is cool.

  • @ValuStudios
    @ValuStudios 4 года назад +1

    Mannnnnnn ... That's a lot of work , but worth it.
    To bad Blender doesn't keep the colors of the materials.
    But it's a little price to pay for 11 minutes of render in great quality.

    • @lucianomunoz
      @lucianomunoz  4 года назад +2

      well thats why it should be done once you're done with the anim but also, if you then export the same objects if you updated your anim you just replace that ABC file, and the materials and whatever you did in blender is kept so its just re-render again :)
      and yeah the render being that fast is pretty much untoppable ... also is a good way to dip your toes in blender if you're coming from other packages.

      It has Viewport 2.0 which now has a new shader that matches Arnold renders, real time renderer is not really used for Animation besides maybe students or quick tests but if one ever going to do it then the best one is UE4 & unlike Blender it imports things properly & faster but personally i prefer Arnold as it gives the best quality.
