My dog actually enjoyed watching new york 1 news when i left. I found that he often roamed around my room and sat looking at the tv on the bed. He also bites my teddy bear but didnt play with it when i was there. Only when i was away. Also he probably liked the sounds the ny1 channel made i think. Real attentive at the sounds of the changing news segments. It pleased him.

My neighbors Rotty constantly jumps the fence to my house and spends the day at my place playing with my dogs, even after his owner comes back I’m still the one who needs to take him back because he doesn’t leave on his own. Love dogs

Mine have access to the backyard when we leave, they don't feel so anxious or break things inside the house thanks to that. The owners could leave an open window or something for him to smell and see what happens outside, that relaxes them; but that place is dark, small and closed, not weird that he feels trapped there.
Poor baby.....I had a rottie-girl who I adopted and fell madly in love with when she was 3. Her WORST fear in life, was me leaving to run a necessary errand! She never got over that. I do believe that all rotts are HOGS!!! When I first adopted her (a couple weeks in), I brought home 2 pizzas for dinner. I went to put the laundry away away (about 3 minutes) and in that time she'd grabbed and eaten 1 large pizza, and hid the other--sans the box)under the leather sofa. Pizza sauce smeared all over her face. She passed away from cancer Aug 20, 2019 and I am still so broken hearted. I will always have such a soft spot for rotties!!!! I wish I could love on this guy for awhile ....
@Yvonne Breezy We've got a female Rottie at the house. She's great with my kid cousin aged 5-9 since we've gotten her as a pup. They're very much guardians of the pack - sweet as can be to those they know and trust, but any strangers that come near/in the house she will try to scare off or be aggressive towards, and it takes a few times for her to get used to someone new, like a friend coming over. Though usually if we show her they're alright and let them give her a treat, she gets the hint and settles down. If you do end up getting one, my biggest advice is to socialize them and train them as much as you can, especially at a young age. Take them to a dog park, and if you can afford it, find a good trainer. They can be a handful I hear if they aren't trained well early, but thankfully she's well trained and listens very well. They can also get a bit aggressive with other dogs, especially near the house, unless they're part of the pack or they've been well socialized at dog parks. They're an awesome breed, but they do take a lot of time and effort early on, because once they get big aint nobody bossing them around otherwise. Hope any of this helps! Edit - Oh, and one more thing - males and females do have temperament and size differences. I haven't had any male rotties so I cant compare, but I hear females are a bit more docile than the males, and her head and body mess is definitely smaller than we expected. She's got a slimmer head than the massive adorable fatheads that male rotties can get.

My mentor at the rescue told me why..which made perfect sense. Then i got my introduction to worms. I was lucky because one lady took in a pregnant momma and looked after her and pups when born. Lets say I didn't want spaghetti for a long long time.

I have two dogs and the behavior when we leave is the same. No matter how many dogs you have, they will always waiting for the humans to come back home. Usually they don't play together when we are not home and they just sitting or going around until someone gets home. Both are girls. The bigger one, a dogo argentino is the mess dog, who opens the kitchen closet with the trash can and pulls it out and when we are back we saw a kitchen full of garbages. The other dog is one year younger and she doesn't make any damages.

keep the tv or radio on for him while you’re away so it’s not dead silent in the house! it can cause anxiety for a dog! also lay out some toys for him to chew on while he’s bored

A cleaner that doesn´t contain chemicals. So instead chemicals there is citrid acid, acetic acid, vegetable glycerine and what not inside. Biological cleaner is a real thing.

For them to even document this shows that they're interested in what their dog does while they're away and are willing to invest in that. They even left doors open showing that the dog has freedom in the house. if these aren't good owners a lot of people shouldn't have pets. I have two dogs just for this reason. Hell when I come home, they are sound asleep on the couch or bed and don't even great me, they are chill. Meanwhile someone other than me gets near the house, its on.
The average rottie is around 100lbs in America, so I'm assuming your dog was another mountain/guardian breed. My rottie pit mix is 115lbs, he's larger than most pure bred rotties we've seen. Their aggression and size is vastly over exaggerated often, especially when not an imported dog but bred here instead.

I know how it feels I lost my first dog a little while ago it’s really hard I miss everything about him but it will get easier and just remember he’s in a better place and if he was sick he is no longer suffering. I’m sorry for your loss.
Sorry for your loss. After we lost our Chow Chow a few years ago, it sunk in after work. I thought, "I used to be Teddy's mom. Now who am I?" The lack of routine hurt as well. I just wanted to walk him when i got home. I really missed his steady breathing and the sound of him licking his paws, even though it used to drive me nuts sometimes. 😊

My labrador was 14 years old, he never show signs of illnes and he passed away just 1 hour after the morning walk. He was fine that morning but then in just 30min from home to the the vet he was gone. He was so good that he chosed the time when I am work and gave me that last morning. Me not arriving in time to be there for him is the worst part and is tearing me apart
I literally teared when you two left and he ran to the window looking outside. This whole thing, him just walking aimlessly around the house and crying. I'm actually crying 😢
So Caesar Milan said go through a ritual to let the dog know you are leaving so they won't look for you. I no longer walk out the door w/ my dog standing there watching me. She knows when I'm leaving by my work uniform and we start the separation process. 1. Outside go potty. 2. two milk bones 3. Carry the milk bones to your spot and stay. I don't say bye. If she tries to follow me I say "No, go lay down" and she knows then, she's not coming. She walks away to her bed, I follow her and tell her "No," to convey she's not coming, and "Stay:" to convey I'm leaving and again, you're not coming. She chills out and settles in. You guys are great pet parents, maybe a good bye ritual with you BEAUTIFUL Rotty, will help him chill out a bit more while you're gone.
Rottweilers are my favorite breed. Heart and brains of a brilliant poodle but the courage and strength of a tiger.. The only breed I've owned that I felt if i jumped into a fire, she would have jumped after me. Totally in love with me 😂💯 And I appreciated that.

All I can say is that it’s not good to leave the lid up on the toilet . Not only is it filled with germs and parasites, but the cleaning chemicals that are used to clean the toilet do remain and if you use any type of long lasting toilet bowl cleaner that you drop in your tank, that’s even worse it’s slowly be killing your dog.
My favorite breed of dogs. I was raised by one when i was 5. The last gift my dad got me for my birthday before leaving us and then it died after 13 years and now I have another German rottie who is getting old going on 12 years . Love these loyal dogs! Protect you with their life but always think they are a lapdog even when they are 115lbs...... take up half the bed and eats better than we do lol. Looking for another one soon....
Real Richmond Hi RR, i totally agree! My dear friend, then eleven, passed SEVENTEEN years ago and I miss her still... The saying is, just before they pass, they almost learn to speak. Rottweilers need a lot of work from the day one BUT if the owner understands, what kind of breed he/she has chosen, it doesn’t feel work at all! And, after 2-3 years, they are, till the end, sssooo easy and loyal. Once a lapdog, and when 50-60kg too😊 All the best to your friend!
Real Richmond I had one too. He found us on the street. I say found us because he walked right up to us and sat down like he knew us and belonged to us. He was the prettiest thing I had ever seen. I knew he belonged to someone else but I wasn’t gonna try and find out. He followed us home and stayed for ten years before I had to put him to sleep. I had my first baby and everything. He was protective of her. Man I miss that dog.

Elle Simonee Vlogs my yellow lab gets an item of warm clothing of mine every day , a shorts , shirt, socks, or a shoe and takes it into whererver she lays that day up on the couch or wherever and I always come in to find the item covered in hair and warm. She drags it and lays on it. I like to think it's because she misses me so it makes me seem close. Why else would she? Sue neber destroys or chews on them. It's so endearing !

The owners could leave an open window or something for him to smell and see what happens outside, that relaxes them; but that place is dark, small and closed, not weird that he feels trapped there.

Poor baby.....I had a rottie-girl who I adopted and fell madly in love with when she was 3. Her WORST fear in life, was me leaving to run a necessary errand! She never got over that. I do believe that all rotts are HOGS!!! When I first adopted her (a couple weeks in), I brought home 2 pizzas for dinner. I went to put the laundry away away (about 3 minutes) and in that time she'd grabbed and eaten 1 large pizza, and hid the other--sans the box)under the leather sofa. Pizza sauce smeared all over her face. She passed away from cancer Aug 20, 2019 and I am still so broken hearted. I will always have such a soft spot for rotties!!!! I wish I could love on this guy for awhile ....

@Yvonne Breezy We've got a female Rottie at the house. She's great with my kid cousin aged 5-9 since we've gotten her as a pup. They're very much guardians of the pack - sweet as can be to those they know and trust, but any strangers that come near/in the house she will try to scare off or be aggressive towards, and it takes a few times for her to get used to someone new, like a friend coming over. Though usually if we show her they're alright and let them give her a treat, she gets the hint and settles down.
If you do end up getting one, my biggest advice is to socialize them and train them as much as you can, especially at a young age. Take them to a dog park, and if you can afford it, find a good trainer. They can be a handful I hear if they aren't trained well early, but thankfully she's well trained and listens very well. They can also get a bit aggressive with other dogs, especially near the house, unless they're part of the pack or they've been well socialized at dog parks. They're an awesome breed, but they do take a lot of time and effort early on, because once they get big aint nobody bossing them around otherwise. Hope any of this helps!
Edit - Oh, and one more thing - males and females do have temperament and size differences. I haven't had any male rotties so I cant compare, but I hear females are a bit more docile than the males, and her head and body mess is definitely smaller than we expected. She's got a slimmer head than the massive adorable fatheads that male rotties can get.

My mentor at the rescue told me why..which made perfect sense. Then i got my introduction to worms. I was lucky because one lady took in a pregnant momma and looked after her and pups when born. Lets say I didn't want spaghetti for a long long time.

I have two dogs and the behavior when we leave is the same. No matter how many dogs you have, they will always waiting for the humans to come back home. Usually they don't play together when we are not home and they just sitting or going around until someone gets home. Both are girls. The bigger one, a dogo argentino is the mess dog, who opens the kitchen closet with the trash can and pulls it out and when we are back we saw a kitchen full of garbages. The other dog is one year younger and she doesn't make any damages.

The average rottie is around 100lbs in America, so I'm assuming your dog was another mountain/guardian breed. My rottie pit mix is 115lbs, he's larger than most pure bred rotties we've seen. Their aggression and size is vastly over exaggerated often, especially when not an imported dog but bred here instead.

So Caesar Milan said go through a ritual to let the dog know you are leaving so they won't look for you. I no longer walk out the door w/ my dog standing there watching me. She knows when I'm leaving by my work uniform and we start the separation process. 1. Outside go potty. 2. two milk bones 3. Carry the milk bones to your spot and stay. I don't say bye. If she tries to follow me I say "No, go lay down" and she knows then, she's not coming. She walks away to her bed, I follow her and tell her "No," to convey she's not coming, and "Stay:" to convey I'm leaving and again, you're not coming. She chills out and settles in. You guys are great pet parents, maybe a good bye ritual with you BEAUTIFUL Rotty, will help him chill out a bit more while you're gone.

This is also why I'm a huge supporter of dog kennels. When we put my girl in her kennel, she immeditely knows we are leaving and settles right in.

Rottweilers are my favorite breed. Heart and brains of a brilliant poodle but the courage and strength of a tiger.. The only breed I've owned that I felt if i jumped into a fire, she would have jumped after me. Totally in love with me 😂💯 And I appreciated that.

All I can say is that it’s not good to leave the lid up on the toilet . Not only is it filled with germs and parasites, but the cleaning chemicals that are used to clean the toilet do remain and if you use any type of long lasting toilet bowl cleaner that you drop in your tank, that’s even worse it’s slowly be killing your dog.
Leave some toys out for him to play with.

My favorite breed of dogs. I was raised by one when i was 5. The last gift my dad got me for my birthday before leaving us and then it died after 13 years and now I have another German rottie who is getting old going on 12 years . Love these loyal dogs! Protect you with their life but always think they are a lapdog even when they are 115lbs...... take up half the bed and eats better than we do lol. Looking for another one soon....
Real Richmond Hi RR, i totally agree! My dear friend, then eleven, passed SEVENTEEN years ago and I miss her still... The saying is, just before they pass, they almost learn to speak. Rottweilers need a lot of work from the day one BUT if the owner understands, what kind of breed he/she has chosen, it doesn’t feel work at all! And, after 2-3 years, they are, till the end, sssooo easy and loyal. Once a lapdog, and when 50-60kg too😊 All the best to your friend!

Real Richmond I had one too. He found us on the street. I say found us because he walked right up to us and sat down like he knew us and belonged to us. He was the prettiest thing I had ever seen. I knew he belonged to someone else but I wasn’t gonna try and find out. He followed us home and stayed for ten years before I had to put him to sleep. I had my first baby and everything. He was protective of her. Man I miss that dog.

well he is. if we want him to or not, he feels the responsibility of protecting the house, Bruno has made that his job. He will always do this, till he is very old and can't anymore. Dogs are the best at their jobs, they never take a day off till retirement!! and only ask for love and food in return.

Elle Simonee Vlogs my yellow lab gets an item of warm clothing of mine every day , a shorts , shirt, socks, or a shoe and takes it into whererver she lays that day up on the couch or wherever and I always come in to find the item covered in hair and warm. She drags it and lays on it. I like to think it's because she misses me so it makes me seem close. Why else would she? Sue neber destroys or chews on them. It's so endearing !
