    We had 2 rotts at one point and we had the perfect split: our female absolutely did not care if you cut her nails. Our male acted like a complete drama queen: would mope, tried to hide his feet, acted like he was being put on death row. Never aggressive, never showed teeth, just a baby about it

      @@ladyspartafitness Barking isnt neccesarrily a sign of aggression. Its literally a guarddogs job. I have meet plenty of guarddogs (growing up in the countryside) that barked at you to make it clear, that you are not allowed to enter the property, while wagging their tail, basically saying, "i have nothing against you, but if you go over the fence without my boss being here, we will have a problem". And thats exactly what they are supposed to do. Which is also why mail boxes, when there are free running dogs around, generally are not at the house, but at the gate (well at least in my corner of the world).

      I briefly had a pitbull who did the same. She pulled hard on the leash when people walked by and it looked like she wanted to tear their face off. But when they were past, she whined and cried for them to come back. She was amazing with people and dogs at the dog park, but did have a bad habit of jumping on people. She fell in love with one of the guys at the park who didn't mind her flopping all over him, though I felt awful about it 😅.

    • @kpturn42
      @kpturn42 8 месяцев назад

      @@ladyspartafitness my positive interactions with dogs do not in any way invalidate your negative experiences with untrained, aggressive, and reactive dogs. I know that I’m incredibly lucky to have routes with very well-trained dogs that are excited to see the mail person, and that my experience is not the norm. I always test a dog’s reactivity and willingness to interact positively before taking the personal risk to deliver. There are definitely a few houses on my routes where I do not interact with the dogs because they have shown obvious signs of real aggression towards myself or the truck, and others where interaction is not in the best interest of the dog because they are working livestock guardians.
      A lot of my knowledge of aggressive behaviors and telltale signs of potential risks for aggression have actually come from watching the more “dangerous” and “reactive” cases on this channel, and that knowledge has helped me immensely in keeping safe in my interactions with dogs while delivering. I’m not looking forward to the day I get bit, but I’m sure I will eventually.

    I know a rottie-pittie who was likely bred to fight but is the biggest smoochiest snuggliest baby! He was literally rescued from the snow at 6 weeks. He had a missing muscle group on one leg and had a slight limp & appears to have been just thrown away while alive. He was likely rescued pretty fast, he was in good health and with exercise, his gait was fixed completely. He is a massive adult dog, but even when he believes there may be a threat, he does not choose violence. He’s very much the “let’s lock the scary thing in the bathroom/garage and let mommy handle it” kind of good boy. I am always cautious around dogs who are stronger than humans, that’s just common sense, but he is an absolute angel. And it’s beautiful that his missing muscle ended up saving him and giving him a wonderful loving family ❤

We had 9 glorious years with her until she succumbed to bone cancer at 11. Hands down, she was the smartest, the most loving dog I have ever been blessed to share space with. I still miss her every day. Thanks for sharing Rhonda with us. Although seeing her be so brave and stoic during her bath made me cry thinking about my girl it was joy to see this beautiful dog today.

    I met a Rottweiler once who was waiting outside a shop with her human, and the second I said hello and held my hand out for her to sniff, she threw herself against my legs and essentially forced me to cuddle her - nearly knocked me over. The guy gave me a knowing chuckle and said "now she's never gonna let you go". The sweetest giant.

      A properly trained and socialized Rattweiler only becomes agressive if someone or something is threatening their family. Same as with the Bullmastiff, German Shepherd, Doberman, Cane Corso, and even the Labrador and Bully breads. .
      The most agressive dog I have ever seen is the Chihuahua. Good thing they are not big.

    • @sirennightshade4977
      @sirennightshade4977 8 месяцев назад +19

      I would argue that if any breed deserves a negative reputation, it's chihuahuas. I've watched a lot of breeders and trainers on youtube and generally they all agree that the honestly meanest dogs are the smallest ones -- not because they were bred that way, but because most owners of little dogs treat them like pack leaders instead of giving them any amount of discipline. I've been bitten by dogs twice in my life, once by a German Shepherd and once by a Chihuahua, both because I was trying to pet them. The Chihuahua's owner didn't even acknowledge the bite or take responsibility for it.😐

We brought him home when he was 11, he spent 4 great years with us and passed away in our living room at 15. The biggest baby, scared of his own shadow, lovable guy. I miss his goofy smile and his habit of sticking his head in your lap right after drinking water. He was incredibly trained, thanks to his previous owner so we could never take any of that credit but was poorly looked after. We got him vet treatment, proper diet and exercise. Just so happy to have been able to give him the best remaining years of his life. ❤ I love Rotties

    We had a rottweiler when I was a kid. My mom put a spike collar on her at first since she was unsure of her temperament, the kind that digs into her neck if the leash is pulled hard. We took her hiking and my mom was pulling hard as she was afraid and the dog was so big and strong, then the dog bit my mom's arm very very gently so as to communicate that the spikes were hurting her. My mom immediately understood what a sweet and controlled dog this was and took off the spike collar. She was the sweetest dog I've ever known.

    Thank you for highlighting how INCREDIBLE and misunderstood Rotties are. Rhonda was an angel.
    I loved the bit at about 6:13 and about 7:06 when you put the blow dryer or her shoulder and totally hit THE SPOT!! She loved that!!
    I have a Rottie cross (with a bichon frisée) and my mum started with all the stereotypes about them. “What if it’s aggressive? What if it hurts your daughter? What if it hurts the cats? What if it bites you? They’re aggressive aren’t they?!” She is one of those things. She is a registered Therapy Dog with a charity here in the UK and I take her to see patients at the Mental Health Hospital in the nearest town and also to a junior school to spend time with some of the children there that have various struggles and also to my daughters secondary school where we spend time with the Autistic children and then children with either anger issues, or they’re upset or struggling for various issues. Also my daughter (14)is autistic.
    My mum changed her tune so fast when she actually saw how incredible she was. To the point of even looking after her for me (which she would have never done before with any dog).
    She just wants cuddles and affection all the time. She’s scared of my cats, although she did raise one from being 5 weeks old that my daughter found abandoned. As for training, my daughter trained her (with my supervision) and she is so obedient and does as she’s told and can even do a few tricks!
    She’s 7 now and she is totally amazing. The best dog I could have hoped for, for both me and my daughter.
    So thank you so much for highlighting how wonderful they are. Xx

    YOU'RE SO RIGHT !!! IT'S GREAT TO SEE AND HEAR FROM SOMEONE LIKE YOU, WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS THE TRUTH ABOUT THE BREED. BEING A PROUD OWNER OF FOUR ROTTWEILERS SINCE 2000, I'LL NEVER GET ANOTHER BREED OF DOG. MY LAST WAS AN ADOPTED BOY NAMED ARNIE, WHO WAS 7YO. HE TURNED OUT TO BE AN INCREDIBLE DOG. EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT HE WOULD LITERALLY GO CRAZY IF YOU EVEN APPROACHED HIM WITH A NAIL CLIPPERS, OR MY TOOL OF CHOICE, A DREMEL TOOL W/THE SANDING DRUM. I WAS WARNED IN ADVANCE BY HIS PREVIOUS OWNER'S DAUGHTER. HER MOTHER SADLY DIED, SO SHE TOOK HIM IN BUT COULDN'T KEEP HIM BECAUSE SHE ALREADY HAD TWO DOGS OF HER OWN. SHE TOLD ME THAT TO DO HIS NAILS HE HAD TO BE SEDATED AT HIS VETERINARIAN. I FOUND THAT FOOLISH & A DANGEROUS RISK TO BE EXPOSED TO ANESTHESIA & A POSSIBLE ADVERSE REACTION. SO AFTER 1 YEAR, MY BOY WOULD LAY THERE FOR ME, ON HIS BACK SOMETIMES, LOL, WHILE I USED A QUIET, BATTERY POWERED DREMEL TYPE TOOL, MADE FOR PETS ON HIS NAILS. HE WOULD EVEN LET ME USE MY SOLO MICRO TOUCH SHAVER TO TRIM THE HAIR BETWEEN HIS TOES. HE EVEN HAD HIS OWN SHAVER HEAD, LOL. FROM HIM LITERALLY TRYING TO BITE THE CLIPPERS, DUE TO HIS FEAR OF NAIL TRIMMING (BECAUSE SOME IDIOT WHO DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO TRIM A DOG'S NAILS THAT ARE BLACK, WHERE THE QUICK ISN'T VISIBLE, HURT HIM ONCE, & THAT PAIN THEY NEVER FORGET) TO A DOG THAT WOULD LAY THERE AND LET ME TRIM HIS NAILS AND HAIR BETWEEN HIS TOES, TO ME WAS THE GREATEST SHOW OF TRUST & LOVE FROM A DOG, THAT I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE. I WILL NEVER FORGET ARNIE. HE GAVE ME FOUR INCREDIBLE YEARS. HE SHOWED ME THAT IT WAS OK TO LOVE AGAIN (MY SADNESS AFTER LOSING MY 3RD ROTTWEILER, WINSTON, 3 YEARS BEFORE MEETING ARNIE) AND HOW MY CHOICE TO ADOPT AN OLDER DOG, WAS ONE OF THE BEST CHOICES I'VE MADE IN MY LIFE. EVERDAY OF OUR 4 YEARS TOGETHER, I FELT SO GOOD INSIDE. KNOWING THAT I'M GIVING THIS DOG THE BEST AND HE GAVE ME MY LOVE RIGHT BACK. WE WERE INSEPARABLE. SADLY MY BEST FRIEND, ARNIE, PASSED AWAY ONE & A HALF YEARS AGO. SOMEDAY, WHEN THE HOLE IN MY HEART CLOSES SOME MORE, I WILL DEFINITELY ADOPT ANOTHER ROTTWEILER. LIKE THE BEAUTIFUL GIRL IN THIS VIDEO, THERE ARE A LOT OF GREAT ADULT ROTTWEILERS OUT THERE, NEEDING HOMES.
    THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO TELL MY STORY. BE KIND, ADOPT, AND GIVE THESE DOGS A GOOD HOME. BELIEVE ME, IT WILL GIVE YOU A SPECIAL FEELING INSIDE THAT WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU.

    AS a former dog warden in training ,Its all about the training Rotts get, so some very vicious ones, but owners taught them to be that way!! Unfair for the breed...I like them!😊😊😊

      I have trained my dog to be a guard/alarm dog. I have not trained him for violence. Instead he just starts yelling and barking an bouncing and causing a scene when someone's around and may accidentally knock them over in his quest for petting and attention if i don't stop him.
      Dogs don't have to be trained to attack to guard and i hate that there are people out there that do that still.

    I had the joy of owning a Rottweiler, Chewy was the sweetest, friendliest, most well behaved dog I ever had. He loved people, other dogs, cats and especially children. I cannot say enough good things about him.

    As a kid I remember getting to pick out and name our little "rotten-weiler" from the litter. So I named her Angel, and hearing you ask Rhonda "Are you an angel" made me think of her. Miss my Angel!

    What a difference the dog makes! The last one I watched was blind and deaf and was screaming due to age and condition. Big beautiful Rhonda is blessed.

    Rottweilers are a truly misunderstood breed but this was a prime example of a well rounded Rottie with a calm demeanour. Anyone saying they’re an aggressive breed still don’t understand that it’s is almost always the other end of the lead that is the problem with aggressive dogs.

    My brother had a 3/4 Rottweiler 1/4 St. Bernard. He was huge, very smart and super friendly and loving. He would even give small children rides. He was an awesome dog and we miss him.

    Growing up one of the neighbors had a rottie named Miss.Kittie and she wandered the neighborhood just to say hi to all the kids out playing. Now of course that I’m older and have much more knowledge of dogs that should not have happened, but she was so so sweet and loved everyone.

    There are so many dogs that have a bad reputation just because they are BUILD strong so they were USED to fight. Which is awful and so sad.
    Showcasing these types of dogs with their usual sweet temperaments is really important and this was super heartwarming.

    There is a series of children's books by Alexandra Day about a Rottweiler named Carl who helps a family look after their toddler.
    This breed was once known as "nanny dogs."
